Description: The Qwyrad Swarm Device is a missile that releases of 200 Qwyrad swarm drones. The missile can do one of three things, hit an armored target, embedding itself into it, releasing the drones inside, it can imbed itself in the ground, releasing the drones all over the ground, or it can explode in air, releasing the drones over an area or over a target. The missile is designed to be dropped from a fighter onto or into key armored targets. The drones themselves are small swarm drones with lasers designed to easily punch through durasteel, and it can also cut through duranium with relative ease., though the drones will have major trouble punching through quadranium, it is theoretically possible, though it would require probing for a major structural weakpoint, making it highly impractical. The drones attempt to overwhelm defenses via mass numbers. The drones try to cut their way inside, if they are not already. Once inside they climb onto any occupants and kill them with the cutting lasers. After they kill the occupants they get to work dismantling the vehicle into its core components before the drones automatically self destruct. If the droids are destroyed they are designed to self destruct to prevent study. The droids have a hive intellegence allowing them to coordinate to get inside a structure. This comes in multiple variants, one is an air to ground missile, that is designed to hit armored vehicles or emplacements. There is also an Air to Air version which is meant to be launched at things the size of large fighters (though it can obviously shoot anything bigger if it can penetrate the armor), things such as shuttles or bombers. The missile stores the drones in the warhead, where they are stored and deactivated until the missile is launched. The operator or droid selects one of the three modes, thoug they all operate under the same release mechanism. There are three panels on the warhead, each one is about .5 meters in length. The panels auto detect if they are embedded in armor or not, and then deploy if they are unblocked. The drones then swarm out of these open panels. In the embedding in the armor, the missile attempts to get inside the vehicle if that is its target via finding the thinnest place in the armor that still has interior using the radar scans it uses for tracking, when it finds that point it heads straight for it embedding itself into the armor, then it releases the drones into the vehicle. If penetration fails, the drones cut their way inside by cutting through the armor. If the missile aims at the ground, the missile embeds itself in the ground releasing the drones out of the back most panel, releasing them onto the ground to attack any enemy vehicles. Now the third option is an air release, this option automatically activates if the missile detects a critical failure in order to attempt to cause some sort of damage, but it can also be activated in order to spread the drones over a wide area. Both the missile and drones are affected by emp's which render them useless.

Could you give me an estimate of how effective this is on a variety of metals, starting from alusteel, going to durasteel, and then up to something a bit more sturdy - maybe quadranium, or perhaps beskar if we're a bit daring (or both)? Or just a summary of its limitations would work just as well.

How, if at all, would the missiles be effected by EMPs?

As this submission is for the missiles rather than for the drones, I would ask that you minimize the description of the drones and emphasize the missile. Explaining how the drones are released, stored, etc, is important, but please try to keep information pertaining to the missile itself more present than the droids inside of it.
