  • [SIZE=11pt]Once per battle, a ship equipped with Quicksilver can suddenly move forward half the standard starship engagement speed worth of distance. If using a hex map this is usually 5 hexes. This move must be in a straight 2D line.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]In the same post/round this is used the ship using it may not fire any weapons or launch attack craft. Additionally shields cannot be recovered.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]The ship may move ‘through’ other ships and debris, but not planets or moons and may not appear in the same space as another ship.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]May only be placed on ships of cruiser size or larger.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]May NOT be used to ram ships or stations of any size or type.[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=11pt]Phasing. A ship with the Quicksilver can quickly jump closer to an enemy, potentially making a very slow ship suddenly appear very closely.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Blockade. With its ability to jump ‘through’ an enemy’s position, the Quicksilver allows a ship to pass through and behind an enemy battle line.[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=11pt]Holding. When the Quicksilver is used, that ship cannot fire or launch attack craft in the post/round it is used in.[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=11pt]Blocking. It is possible to prevent a breakthrough by positioning ships in such a way that the Quicksilver cannot be safely used.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=11pt]DESCRIPTION[/SIZE]
[SIZE=11pt]The Quicksilver is basically a very precise micro-jump hyperdrive. By calculating distances exactly, it can jump into lightspeed for mere seconds, which is a vast amount of real distance. Doing this allows even a large ship to close rapidly with an enemy or to escape from danger.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=11pt]Due to the precise calculations and the fuel needed, this can only be used once during a battle. It also temporarily leaves the ship using it unable to fire or launch attack craft due to the diversion of power.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=11pt]Originally used by the Contingency when they invaded the galaxy from the Rishi Maze, wreckage of this technology was recovered by Archangel in the aftermath. Since both Garnet and Enyo had briefly worked with them they were able to locate a working version of the Quicksilver aboard an under construction Battlecruiser.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=11pt]With the data and a prototype recovered Archangel was able to make enough of these to use them in their new capital ship designs.[/SIZE]
