- Passive Protection - Once deployed, Quetzal's act automously by intercepting incoming fire. In the event they perceive heavy ordnance they will attempt to intercept, destroying themselves and possibly the projectile too.
- Modular - Quetzal's can be programmed to fulfil support roles, integrating with armour systems to function as probes rather than combat droids.
- Small Targets - Quetzal's have a small profile enabling them to move quickly and better evade non-focused fire.
- Limited Range - Quetzal's are designed to offer personal protection for Avali against energy based weaponry and heavy ordenance, as a result their effective range is restricted to 50 meters.
- Sonic Weaponry - Sonic weapons can wreck havoc with their onboard conversion field projectors ultimately causing them to collapse and fail.
- Fragile - Quetzal are reliant upon their shields to protect themselves and their users, once disabled it's likely the unit will be destroyed. Equally, heavy kinetic weapons (such as high powered rifles) may be enough to destroy a Quetzal outright.
Due to their unique physiology, Avali armour design has moved away from traditional plated armours more commonly worn by bipedal species seen across the galaxy. Instead, Avali warriors wear armour that relies upon remotely controlled drones to intercept incoming fire. The most common of these is the Quetzal, which are equipped with directional conversion fields designed to intercept blaster bolts and similiar small arms fire. However, in the event heavy ordenance is detected the droid will sacrifice itself to ensure the safety of it's paired user. Meanwhile, the armour provides the necessary software to control and power to recharge Quetzal and similiar units.
