Quarterly Check-In Survey

As your newly anointed god-empress humble presumptive leader, I would like to take some time each quarter to have a frank discussion about how we're doing as a faction, what we're doing right, what we could do to improve, and how your staff can assist in creating the type of faction the members want to support. I know that we'll never be able to please everyone, and I also know that we have a very specific vision for what kind of faction this is, so we may not be able to entertain and implement every idea that is provided, but I do want to get everyone to feel that they will have their voices heard and their ideas considered.

To that end, I'm putting up this survey, and asking for your thoughts and comments below. Please feel free to add anything that isn't covered by the survey, in your comments.

Thank you, everyone, for your continued hard work in making this a great faction!

And so it begins.

Today a survey, tomorrow she'll have us in concentration camps where we'll be forced to endure power point briefs...

As far as the voting, I'm rather happy with the status quo and wouldn't change any of what we're doing. But that's from the guy with the purple tag so... take that for what it's worth.

I know I'm just coming back so I can't say much as to how things have been. I hope to change that. I understand making the faction enjoyable for everyone, so I will say this. Keep the activity level consistent, and provide opportunities for people of all parts of the facfion to be involved.

In regards to the dominion question - more or less; I think we should think about organizing our dominions a little bit more going into them. Not necessarily more, and not necessarily less of the actual dominions. But I think we should try to work within the post limits of the various dominion tiers to tell a complete story. The practice of ending a dominion right when the magic number is hit, regardless of where the story has progressed, is a little unsettling to me.

I understand the reasoning behind it, but it feels like it smacks in the face of the point of all of this. Perhaps a compromise of sorts would be a more fleshed out and organized dominions where players have, say, the knowledge that they have to complete their portion of the dominion story in X posts. Those posts could be spent inking out a condensed mission or whatever, completing a task of some kind.

That way it isn't just a rush to the end number and then a cessation of the thread. It's people moving towards an inevitable, defined goal. Sure, it may take some of the spontaneity out of the thread, but it will allow it to be something we could be proud of as an end point, rather than just a means to an end for some meta-mapping.

I have personally participated in stories in dominion threads that continued way after the dominion was completed. I was hoping to get my story done in under 120 posts, but I've had to stop short of it.

First Order State Media: it's wonderful. You're wonderful. Don't change a thing. I don't think anyone else in this faction has a better vision for what this should accomplish or do than you, [member="Natasi Fortan"].

War? What is it good for? ... I won't finish the quote. Not appropriate. What is appropriate, however, is that we actually have skirmishes before we go full on war machine. I think that a warm up or two will help considerably with getting our teamwork together as well as just some valuable experience before we start taking on invasions. There are those of us who have never participated in those before (and let's be fair, a bloody huttball match is not indicative of ALL pvp).

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
Only real comment I have is with regard to Lore. Overall it's pretty clear and well established, but there's some ambiguity as to how the government is structured with the Supreme Leader and all.

The way I've got it in my head is sort of like Iran, with Ren being the Ayatollah and Ms. Fortan the President. While absolute authority rests with the Supreme Leader, actual governance is run by the Grand Moff.

Which may well be wrong, so basically I'm saying it could be elaborated on. More fluff never hurt anyone, as I see it, and the possibility of internal power struggles in government is always entertaining.
