SPECIAL FEATURES

Railgun - The Quarrel was designed as a long-range gunboat, featuring very few weapons, just two laser cannons, aside from its railgun. It is this weapon that is responsible for the Quarrel’s high weapons rating and popularity. The Railgun is able to launch projectiles at high speeds, covering vast distances across the battlefield in the blink of an eye, leaving the Quarrel acting more like a space-based sniper than a regular gunboat. While most ships outfitted with a railgun were limited to firing solid projectiles the Quarrel was designed to allow its railgun to be switched between three possibilities, each firing their own ammunition. The HR-0C Slingshot Slug Railgun is your standard Railgun, designed to accelerate solid chunks of metal to insane speeds so the energy released by their impact would devastate any ship it hits. The second railgun the Quarrel can mount is the Incinerator class plasma railgun, a weapon designed to accelerate bolts of plasma to high speeds, doing significant damage to any shields or ships they would impact. The final railgun that could be fitted to the Quarrel is the HR-IO4 Ion Railgun, capable of accelerating ion blasts to strike an enemy’s ship from across the battlefield, wreaking havoc with shields and ships systems. It is important to note that the Quarrel can only mount one railgun at a time, and altering its loadout requires significant attention from a trained work crew, not the kind of procedure you can perform quickly by yourself.

Strengths:
Sniping: The Quarrel’s railgun is able to strike at extreme range.

Weaknesses:
The Quarrel is slow and not very agile. While it might have a long range if you can get close to it the gunship has no chance to escape from you.
Weak armaments: Outside of the Railgun the Quarrel is only armed with two laser cannons, giving it less than intimidating teeth.
Exposed weaponry: The Railgun is in a very exposed position, making it an easy target for anyone able to direct their fire against the gunship.

Description:

The Quarrel was a gunship designed during the Old Republic era as a long range attack craft, built primarily around one weapon, it’s railgun. The Quarrel lacks in many other areas, being slow and not very agile but, if it was far enough away you’d be dead before you even knew it was there. The gunboat wasn’t designed for comfort, or a large crew, and while it did have a hyperdrive, it was primarily intended to jump with a fleet and to spend more of the journey aboard a capital ship. In the same manner as an X-wing can be used to travel from planet to planet so can the Quarrel, it might not be the best choice, but it’s perfectly acceptable.
