Thelonius is a tall, dashing young man with bold blue eyes and medium length hair that is meticulously groomed. He bears a scar down the left side of his face from a duel he fought near the beginning of his career as a pirate.

It would be an insult to the common populace of the galaxy to say that the early life of Thelonius Teramo, later to be known as the pirate Qarai, was average. The common populace of the galaxy did not grow up with tutors that charged more than the GDP of some small star systems, nor did they grow up attending parties and galas of the galaxies most elite rulers, and the common populace of the galaxy most assuredly did not grow up with a personal bodyguard to teach them about the rest of life. Thelonius did have all of these things, though there had been nothing singular in his early life that would stand out as the point in which he began to turn from the life of luxury towards the life of crime, at least so far as his family is concerned. In reality, what had been a fairly typical experience in his adolescence, so far as the wealthy were concerned, was the window that opened Thelonius’s eyes to the life and times of the galaxies pirates.
At the age of thirteen, Thelonius had been en route back to Serenno from a gala for the daughter of the Queen of Alderaan, when his transport was interdicted and captured by criminals. The ship was held for only a matter of hours, as his personal guard and he were able to affect their escape and commandeer the pirate vessel. They took that vessel, with their transport along as well, back to Serenno and had it adjudicated as a lawful prize. Thelonius was allowed to handle the money as he wanted, most of it went to the crew of his transport and bodyguard, and the rest went into savings for future use. It was at that point that Thelonius’s desire for the pirate life began, not out of wanting to be like the criminals that he had faced that day, but to prove that a pirate was so much more than a random person hijacking ships.
At the age of twenty-two, Thelonius was off at a University on Ossus. He was there studying astronautical engineering, spending most of his spare time being tutored by Jedi at the local Jedi temple in rudimentary force use. He was traveling home during a break in his studies when his transport, unaffiliated from his family but still packed with wealthy people, was interdicted and taken by pirates. This band was far more organized than the crew he had helped defeat as a younger man. He was kept prisoner for several weeks, often being told that he would be either killed or sold off or ransomed soon. After these weeks, he began to be assigned to various duties aboard the ship, his studies in astronautical engineering paid off for him in that he was quickly working in the engine room alongside the pirate crew.
A month went by, then two, Thelonius was enjoying working on the ship. However, the turning point came when the pirate ship was caught up by a system government in the rim. The ship was boarded and the crew arrested. Thelonius, being still a prisoner, was on the road to his freedom. The thoughts that passed through his head that day would forever change the path of his life. As they were being loaded onto the system guards ship, Thelonius attacked and killed several of the guards, even employing the force in his attempt to free the pirates. His attempt was successful, the remaining guards and civilians were locked on the old pirate vessel with a beacon set to emit a distress signal while the pirates, with their new brother Qarai, took the system defense vessel and jumped for new horizons.
Since then, Qarai has taken part in many heists, going under various pseudonyms and working his way up to the point where he ran a ship of his own. His goals are quite lofty, but they are tightly kept in his mind until such time as he can make them come to fruition.
