FORCE SENSITIVE: Droid.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
Strengths:

  • Cortosis Weave: Cortosis is deemed one of the most durable and sough after metals in the galaxy for good reason. With a natural resistance to both blasters and lightsabers, PT-31-A and its (his) ilk very successful in their task of hunting and exterminating Jedi.
  • Substantial Physical Strength: Needed to successfully overpower the force abilities of Jedi, PT-31-A and its (his) ilk rely on physical strength to bridge of force gap. As a plus, that strength is their primary form of combat.
  • Advanced Processor: Needed to properly track and combat Jedi, Purge Troopers are fit with state-of-the-arch processors capable of calculating countless possible outcomes in a situation.
  • Guided Missiles: Should a Jedi, or any other foe, attempt to negate PT-31-A's physical attacks by fighting from far away, they will soon be introduced to the guided rockets stored on its (his) shoulder. While able to destroy light vehicles, the missiles are anti-infantry in nature.
  • Durable: With the metals in its armor, along with its pure physical power, PT-31-A is a force to reckon with and is a pain in the arse to destroy.
Weaknesses:
  • Slow: Due to its sheer weight and focus on strength, PT-31-A and its (his) ilk are dead slow. Their guided missiles were designed to try and fix that issue, but to limited success.
  • Power Drain: Purge Troopers, as prototype droids, rely on outdated cores to remain active. As such, they are quickly required to recharge via a brief power down.
  • Weakness to Strong Electrical Currents: Not expecting the use of electrostaffs or force lightning to be used against the Purge Troopers, the designers or the Purge Trooper line did not design its core with such protections in place to cut down on cost. A regrettable choice when the Purge Troopers first faced the renegade Starkiller. Though most currents would not be enough to completely destroy PT-31-A and its (his) ilk, it will briefly disable them.
  • Waspish: Centuries of being alone, with little to no maintenance, PT-31-A has developed something of a personality. By personality, that means it is short tempered, impatient, and very waspish, showing little respect for anyone or anything. It is bitter and, given its situation prior to escape, may be a little justified.
  • Over-sized: PT-31-A's startling size, while good for intimidation and feats of strength, does little to help it in tight corridors or small areas. It is slow, unwieldy, and big, a bad combination.

APPEARANCE:
Standing at a startling four meters (twelve foot), PT-31-A is certainly hard to miss. Its head, reminiscent of the Stormtroopers of a bygone era, contains ancient computer and systems that, while top of the line for their time, have become outdated and sluggish. This does little to slow PT-31-A, however, as its physical strength certainly has not diminished with time. Its body, a dark grey, is as intimidating in the dark as it is in the light, a block of cold metal. From its shoulder-mounted rocket launcher to the steel bottoms of its feet, everything to this droid shows both the strengths and arrogant beliefs of the old Galactic Empire.

BIOGRAPHY:
It has become a staple in history, the contempt the Empire of old held for the Jedi... No, contempt does not begin to cover it. The Jedi were purged at the hand of the Emperor and his many servants, nearly pushing the Jedi to extinction. At first, it had been easy. The Jedi were everywhere, clear in the public eye. However, with the Purge, the Jedi went into hiding. The servants of the Emperor could not always be where the Jedi were, allowing several to slip through the cracks. Thus began a scramble for new 'Jedi Hunting' forces. When regular organics did not meet the requirements, two new branches opened. While one group set after cyborgs, another unveiled their magnum-opus: the Purge Trooper. The trooper, however, was not as successful as initially hoped. One of the first recorded instances of a Purge Trooper facing a 'trained' (citation needed) force user was aboard an unnamed Imperial facility. It combated the force user before its many problems were shown. The Purge Troopers saw limited use until they were completely replaced by the far more useful Dark Troopers, cyborgs. Purge Troopers were scattered across the galaxy in storage or as protectors for fortresses in the Outer Rim.

PT-31-A was one such Purge Trooper. It (he) was station on an asteroid near Eriadu, acting as an enforcer on a slave-mining operation. The asteroid where it (he) was stationed was under staffed, so PT-31-A was more than a welcome edition. When the Emperor died in 4 ABY, countless worlds rebelled. One such rebellion was on the asteroid, and was, initially, successful. The slaves soon realized one glaring issue, while Stormtroopers could be overpowered by their numbers, PT-31-A could not. This was, possibly, its (his) first sign of sentience. Appropriating large amounts of explosives from the armory, PT-31-A blew all but one exit to the mine, where it waited. Two-Hundred slaves, forced into a corridor no more than two people wide, suddenly faced PT-31-A. In a violent display, PT-31-A {This Segment of History Has Been Redacted Given the Graphic Nature of the Information}.

PT-31-A was soon spirited away to Eriadu, where it, briefly, acted as the personal bodyguard of Sander Delvardus, leader of the Eriadu Authority. This job was short lived when, in 6 ABY, PT-31-A faced Mara Jade, former (?) Hand of the late (?) Emperor. (Whose orders she was acting under at the time is up for debate). Though PT-31-A had initial success, Mara Jade being aware of Purge Troopers but not how to fight them, its weakness to electricity was soon discovered by the woman. Disabling it through sheer power, Mara Jade moved on, though was unable to capture Sander Delvardus before he escaped back to his Battlecruiser.

PT-31-A would be sent to storage, believed to be ruined and set to be demolished and its metal melted down. It was unfortunate that the planet it (he) was left on was soon overrun by the Imperial Remnant. Unaware of PT-31-A's existence on the planet, the droid remained dormant. For the next half-decade, the droid automatically repaired itself with the help of a defective repair droid. Finally repaired, PT-31-A tried to follow its last orders 'protect Sander Delvardus'. It was trapped, however, inside the fortress that served as a tomb for countless members of the Eriadu Authority.

Years turned to decades, decades to centuries. PT-31-A's one companion finally failing and shutting down. PT-31-A's motivator, which had not been maintained in countless years, began to grow resentful, resentful towards the Empire, towards organics, and especially towards Sander Delvardus. It had served the man with honor, fighting to its last, and was abandoned for it. PT-31-A would spend the next countless years trying to break free from its prison.

When all hope seemed lost and its core gave out one final time, PT-31-A was found. Not by Imperials, as it had initially hoped, or even the New Republic. No, it had been found by pirates looking to make a quick credit off some old Imperial toys. Unable to stop them, PT-31-A was spirited away to their base where it was put up for sale to someone they assumed they would sucker into buying a seemingly useless droid.
