"Grand Overseer? Our perimeter ships are reporting strange activity outside of Null's space. Ships that don't appear normal to the area."

Janira paused in what she was doing, which was filling out extremely boring paperwork. She hated paperwork. This could be a nice distraction from the stack on her desk. The notion of strange vessels just outside of Null's space wasn't extremely unsettling. Could just be there was a migratory fleet passing through the area. Either way, it was something that needed looking into for safety's sake. "Has there been any contact with these vessels?" She needed all of the information as quickly as it could be given, because if there was something wrong they needed to act.

"No contact with the ships, no. The only contact we've had is with the Ithorians, actually."

The Ithorians. They were outside of Echani space, and a species that didn't completely mix well with the Echani given their propensity for practicing pacifism. The fact that they were contacting the Echani was interesting to her. "Interesting. What did the Ithorians have to say? Was it in regards to the ship activity?" Something was up here. The ships alone would have been fine, but now the Ithorians were contacting them. Something was wrong with this situation and she was going to find out what.

"They said that they're having problems with pirates, but the conversation was cut off before we could finish it."

Janira stood up immediately. Pirates. Swine. It was a problem that the Echani would not tolerate. There was no honor in the practice of piracy, but there was honor in destroying them. "Mobilize a detachment of Fast Attack Craft and Troop Deployment vessels. I want us to leave for Ithor immediately. Tell our picket forces to intercept any unknown vessels for questioning purposes. If they're pirates, destroy them." The man nodded and turned to walk out. Janira went to grab her combat equipment and then left for the spaceport so she could catch a shuttle to the fleet. She would see to this personally.

Deep Space Near Null

The C1 lanced through space alongside of Sin Squadron. Since his departure from the Republic, and with things largely secured between their two people's, he'd taken an assignment to temporarily lead the squadron because of his past experience flying fighter craft with the Jedi. That and because one of the council member's sister, Zandra, had apparently royally screwed up at Ord Mantell or something. He didn't know. People died. It happened.

"Lead, I've got a contact mark two at one o'clock."

Kamon quickly twirled his right stick and dropped the nose of the fighter down and around to bring him in line with the contact. Visual came on screen and he immediately fired up his sensor jamming tech so that the other vessel couldn't figure out what was going on before they came in line.

As if on cue, the ship started running, and fired back towards them with rear facing weapons.

"Comm jamming is coming online. Take out the ships engines and weapons systems. Go for engagement."

He flipped on the communications jammer, after sending an alert to the nearest IFAS, and then punched it, zipping towards the large freighter. Bogies would be dealt with swiftly.

Zandra was ticked, but understanding. Her annoying sister had taken her squadron. HER squadron. Sure, Janira was the one to give it to her in the first place, but still. Sin Squadron was her baby (if she ever had one) and for Janira to just hand over her baby to someone else? After Zandra saved her LIFE!?
If they survived this, Zandra would have words for her sister.
Still, she did feel an intense amount of guild over the death of Zax. It was war, yes. People died. Nothing she could have done about it. But still... The guilt was there. All the time
She'd even gone so far as to name her new fighter craft after him.

Zax followed the others in the squadron like just another ship. She wasn't anything special here. Wasn't a leader. She followed orders.
And she actually preferred that. It was easier this way.
"Oi! before we all die, who wants to make a bet?"

Flight was something that was rather uncomfortable to Yusanis. He liked to be on the ground, where he could save himself should the need arise. Out here he was open for anything, even a small piece of debris could end his life forever. Tap. Just like that. But he wouldn't let himself succumb to fear. He wouldn't-"Oi! Before we all die, who wants to make a bet?" Who-Why would she say that? The trembling hands started all over again. It wasn't that he was a crappy flier, it was just that he hated not having control. But he had been moved to Sin Squadron to replace the pilot lost in their last battle. He decided to voice his opinion. "Why would you say that? We are all going to come out fine!" He couldn't see who it was whom had said that, but before he could continue on his rant, the ship that was not supposed to be there opened fire. "Damn pirates...!" he said as he tilted his stick to the right to dodge the incoming laser fire, his C1 rolling with his command. Maybe he did have some control here.

Janira glanced at @[member="Thraishe Krine"] for a moment and then looked back to where she was going. "We've had reports of strange vessels just outside of our borders, and we've received word that Ithor is having a problem with pirates. They're not in our jurisdiction, but they're close by. I intend to go see that it gets dealt with if it's true." There would no doubt be others involved. Last she heard, Ambassador Vondiranach was leading Zandra's old squadron in patrols along the border in that vacinity. It might be prudent to stop there and make contact with them before continuing on to Ithor. She'd make a point of letting the Captain of the vessel she'd be on know to do so, as it might be important to have them along.

"Keep up if you intend to follow along." She swept swiftly along to the spaceport and procured a shuttle. Strapping herself in, the pilots lifted them off and they rose up towards space above Eshan, where several fleet vessels were mobilizing into a preparedness formation. The shuttle moved towards an AFAS, the larger brother of the two Fast Attack craft in the Echani fleet. It rose into the hangar and settled down. Unbuckling herself, she strode from the ship regardless of where Thraishe followed or not, and headed towards a lift that would take her to the ships bridge. Once there, she approached the captain. "Captain, set course for Ithor, but bring is out of hyperspace just along our border there. We need to pick up some people."

"Yes, Grand Overseer. We should be ready to leave in a moment."

"Depends on the bet, Twelve."

He flipped the ship around and rolled about, avoiding the fire from the pirate vessel. It wasn't trying to run very hard, which told him that the ship must have been there as a sentry or some such. There was no gravity well to keep it from jumping to hyperspace. Either way, they had a job that they needed to do and that was to neutralize the vessel before it became a true threat.

"Evasive maneuvers, aim only for engines and weapons. We want it intact."

Depressing the triggers on the yokes, he opened fire from range with his laser cannons. They slammed into shields, and then he had to juke to the left to avoid incoming fire.

"Take it down, Sin."

"Why would you say that? We are all going to come out fine!"
Zandra grinned wickedly. She was making him nervous? Good. He should be nervous. He should be afraid. People died here. Zax died in a little fighter just like this. The sooner they accepted that, the better.
"Best lighten up, smallfry," she said directly to him, "There be monsters out here. Ya wanna go down screamin' or smilin'?"

"Depends on the bet, Twelve."
Zandras grin only widened. This was one who knew how to live and die!
"Well, great and powerful leader," she replied, as casual as anyone in a fight for their life would be, "If we survive this, how 'bout I let ya buy me a drink?"
Not a date, but not not a date either.

"You're on, Twelve. Just don't tell your sister."

He smirked a bit and flipped the fighter into an inverted dive. Pushing on the engines, he rolled and came up beneath the enemy freighter. Fire from his weapons splashed against the ships shields, and he sent a torpedo flying which ripped through behind his laser fire and slammed into the engines. They exploded in a cloud of debris, and he zipped past the enemy ship, weaving around.

"Hit the weapons and shields, Sin. She'll be dead in the water shortly."

Don't tell her sister. Zandra laughed as she rolled out of enemy fire. If janira found out... that would be too funny.
"Yes sir, cap'n sexypants," she gave him a mocking salute, even though she knew he couldn't see it and sent everything she had out at the enemy ship, "We're gunna kill some brave men tonight."

Kamon smirked. Hanna might not care much for that sort of thing, but Kamon was, well, free about things, generally speaking. Let her call him whatever she wanted. In reality, he knew Zandra's reputation. It didn't bother him. She was a damn good pilot and fighter.

"Bravery does not fix stupidity, as they'll find out."

Flipping the fighter around, he watched as Zandra's fire ripped through the shields and tore weapons from the ships hull. One of the others took the shields down, and another knocked out more weapons. Effectively, the freighter was now a dead duck. He swooped in close and examined it. The markings were strange. He didn't recognize them, but he was pretty sure he knew what they meant.

"They're Pira..."

He didn't get to finish as the ship suddenly ripped itself apart, sending debris and such into his ship, which caused it to spiral away out of control. Kamon's head was slammed around until he was in a dazed, barely conscious state.

Victory was boring. Zandra watched the dead, yawning loudly. Wasn't there supposed to be an explo-
Nope. There it was. Thankfully, she was smart enough to stay a distance away. She almost laughed at the suprise explosion and punched the air in the cockpit excitedly in victory. Then she remembered... Their beloved leader, on the other hand, mister cutie face, was not that smart. He was close.
"Oi! Kamon! You dead? If you ain't dead, talk to me, guy!"

Kamon shook his head, trying to clear the fog. Zandra was all yelling in his ear. That made his head hurt worse.

"Oy... Stop yelling. Head's on fire."

Sitting upright, he tried the yokes on his ship, but nothing was happening. That wasn't cool. His fighter was adrift with no controls. Bugger. Now he was going to have to wait for an AFAS or salvage team to show up so he could get back to safety. What were the chances of that....

And then there were multiple reversions in the field ahead of him, including several AFAS craft.

"Incredible timing. I have no steering, Twelve. I'll have them tow me in. Get the rest of the Squadron towards whichever one of these is the command vessel."

The fleet had left some hours prior to Sin Squadrons engagement with the Pirate vessel on the edge of their controlled space. Full contingents of soldiers were along, and Janira had her own personal company of EMBU's with her as well. She, quite frankly, loved the droids almost as much as she loved actual Echani soldiers. The only difference was, she felt no remorse if a droid died, unlike what she felt when one of her brethren was killed in combat. Enough of them had died over the years while she was leading them into battle that she didn't need to see more of that. Using droids meant that she didn't have to deal with it all the time. It also meant that they had more soldiers available.

The ships came out of hyperspace, and immediately the scanners were picking up debris, and Sin Squadron. One of them, their leader had his distress beacon active so she motioned for them to draw the ship in. "I want all of Sin Squadron on board immediately. Scanners, what's the debris field?" They reported back that it was likely remains of a corvette sized vessel of unknown origins. There were no hyperspace trails in the area, which likely meant it had been there for at least a while. "Probably a pirate scout that detected the Ithorians transmission. They wanted to cover their tail. If Sin Squadron jammed their comms, we might still have an advantage here. As soon as they're on board, jump us to hyperspace and have my sister and Kamon brought to the bridge."
