In a sterile and metallic decorated room four scientist, of the Experimental Technologies Institute located in the subterranean military science base near the capital of Atrisia, had gathered at a viewing balcony to trade reports on the current project currently codenamed Project XPTV-Schwere Daala (SD). As the four scientists gathered projected in a holographic display in the centre of the room was the data collected from yesterdays first test runs. From the giant observation windows the balcony looked down on a giant cylinder that contained the new weapon being developed for the XPTV-SD. One of the scientists with a large pair of cybernetic fused spectacles rubbed his chin and grumbled to his more plump colleague. "Coaxial system seems to be working. How are the insulators for the plasma armature?" he continued. His fat friend nodded and replied with accompanying hand gestures, "The insulators are doing alright however, the breech insulators are rather stressed by the overwhelming heat density upon the plasma armature's final phase of amalgamation and condensation. In other areas all signs are normal. The plasma armature is produced well, the particle condensers and accelerators feed the railgun rather well." The bespectacled scientist nodded in reply. They both looked up at the holographic display of data. The title of the window lablled Project Experimental Proto-Type Vessel Schwere Daala Record Data Catalogue 42351. This window was brought to the forefront. The image projected in this window was the particle displacement that was generated inside the cylinder below. "Well it certainly generates the necessary plasma density to work as a wepaon..." he continued, "The key is whether we can reduced the cool-down phase afterwards Yagor. I mean we came into this knowing it's cool-down would be ridiculous but currently its even beyond that in number. Admirals might be most displeased that we can only do demonstrations so sporadic like." The fatter one rolled his arms together and scoffed, "Well tough poodoos, Plasma Accelerators are insane machines. Better safe than blown to sub-atomic hell."
Just then the doors hissed open and in stepped ViceAdmiral Aedelgar Krakengard, the mastermind of the proposal. One would find it odd that an admiral would know so much about the obscure sciences of neo-physics. But, Krakengard was no stranger to ship weapons and their processes, even the experimental ones. Before he was an admiral he was an assistant technician on a few of the Imperial Remnant's Star Destroyers, he knew the principles well, even if the mathematics of the matter escaped him. The two scientists who were in previous conversation removed themselves from the data and approached Vice Admiral with stern looks of respect. They saluted, Krakengard returned the salute with an upraised palm. "Save the pleasantries gentlemen for later. Now before the others appear, how goes the project?" he said with a deep glare. The bespectacled scientist coughed and attempted to form words, "Ideal sir, the plasma railgun is close to fully-operational production phase. There are still some difficulties with controlling the heat generated but the system is largely functional." Krakengard raised an eyebrow and hissed, "Largely? How long would it take for it to be completely Mr. Ugrat?" Ugrat gulped, "Anywhere from a months to years sir, it depends if we establish a concrete insulation system by the time of our next demonstration, after today's."
"For your sake, I hope its months Mr. Ugrat. I and nor does the Emperor enjoy late deadlines. I understand the procedures must be meticulous, but they are also urgent. This ship and its weapon system must be completed and fully operational by the 4th demonstration...understood?" Vice Admiral strictly remarked. The two gulped and saluted replying with a resolute "yes sir!". Krakengard responded with a nod and gesture them to return to their business. He himself removed himself from the scientific observation balcony and marched his way to the meeting chambers where other Admirals and soon the Emperor would appear to be debriefed on the matter of the Schwere Daala. This was his chance to revolutionize the Imperial Fleet and gain his first big step to the top of the ladder- a dark grin cracked across his face. This was a military man with a penchant for politics. A dangerous man for both friend and foe.
