Procuring Eating Treats for Animals

Jaxton Ravos

Mindwalker of the Outer Rim
Enga Thaal was put into a near rage when he heard how some organic beings were thrown away and mistreated, only due to their lesser intelligence. Just because a creature was not sentient did not mean it shouldn't have been taken care of, utilized properly. So, when Enga heard of the semi-sentient's plight off of the world Zenoma Sekot he resigned himself to fix it, and headed out into the galaxy to create a company that helped with the caretaking of all the semi-sentients in the galaxy.

But he had run into a small problem, everything needed to be fed, and food wasn't exactly always cheap. By some miracle however, he heard tale of food that came in a block, an unnatural shape he admittedly wasn't comfortable with with his Yuuzhan Vong heritage. The block supposedly had everything a being needed to keep healthy, so Enga pursued a meeting with their owner, one @[member="HK-36"], to purchase these cubes in bulk. So he sent the man a message using the strange 'holonet' or some such invisible spider web that seemed to connect the technological society of the galaxy and asked for a meeting, to discuss possible business opportunities.

Enga would get a response quite soon, of course, HK agreed to a meeting and Enga was invited to Abregado-Rae, the planet where the droid Observer has made his home. Abregado was a strange place nowadays, full of aliens interacting with humans, droid refugees seeking better life in the galaxy working to get by as equal citizens to organics. After all, who would abuse a droid on a planet where a droid has been made a governor?

The planet became a weird mix of travelers and natives, advancement and nature, droids and organics, all moving together and working for better life.

There would have been a Skiff sent to the spaceport where Enga would have landed, a Skiff that would take him to the Governmental Building at which steps HK would have been waiting, in his usual ceremonial armor and weaponry.

Hopefully, Enga would have gotten there without any complications or troubles.

Once Enga received his message he packed his bags and headed to the planet Abregado-Rae. It was a world under "The Protectorate" if he remembered correctly, right next one of the Empires. Getting through customs was a bit lengthier than normal, as they wanted to go over his ship and his carried belongings, none of which seemed to adhere to any standard they were trained for. Oddly enough they didn't really understand that his ship wasn't made of metal, and that made them wary of him. He assured them he meant no harm, only to talk to an HK-36 character. They informed him he was some sort of governor of the world and questioned him further, but when he pressed they let him go to his meeting. It seemed this man was powerful in more ways than one.

The Skiff escorted Enga to a rather large building, probably some sort of government or planetary management from the looks of it, and he saw a droid waiting for him. That explained the somewhat unconventional name. Enga was a bit physically shocked at this, dealing with a non-organic life form but he forced himself out of the skiff and headed over. If him being uncomfortable helped others, he would merely have to be uncomfortable for a while.

"Gadma Dar HK-36." He greeted the droid in his native tongue. It was roughly a 'hello' in basic, but not quite. "I appreciate you seeing me on such short notice. I apologize for being a bit late, customs checks are . . . irregular with my biots." He said, pausing for a moment. "If I may, one of the dock workers mentioned you hold some position of power in this world, as well as with your company. Is that true?" He asked the metal man @[member="HK-36"].

HK bowed in turn to greet the Yuuzhan Vong
"Gadma Dar."
He straightened up in his ceremonial armor motioning for him towards the stairs leading to the building.
"It is my pleasure, and I apologize for the set backs, the Yuuzhan Vong do not visit our Galaxy as much anymore, the familiarity with their technology, vague to begin with, began to fade away in most cultures."
Should Enga follow HK up the stairs, the droid would keep talking
"And yes, I am an Observer of this planet, I govern it in the name of the Protectorate. This brought many free droids to this planet to seek shelter and equality in a world where many droids are seen below organics. Every kind of a being needs their haven, this one is seen as a haven for droids."
He kept on explaining
"Although aliens, humanoids, all kinds of beings are welcome here. Either way, I was fascinated by your proposal, you seek to create a galactic organization in order to help the semi and non-sentient beings, is that correct?"
He asked his companion

"Indeed Observer" Enga replied as he followed the metallic being up the stairs and towards the complex. "It is said that in ancient times our people were victims of a war of being, well like yourself to be honest, and as a result we never developed through metal and fire." Enga explained, in as neutral tone as he could manage, a bit embarrassed but not holding back. "Instead we helped the creatures around us, grew them, cultivated them, and they helped us by giving us strength, lifting us to the stars."

"While we certainly had . . . unique creatures to work with and shape as compared to the rest of the galaxy, I believe the creatures of the galaxy have similar potential, and if allowed and nurtured could help improve lives everywhere. And I intend to show the galaxy that."

"Which is why I came to speak to you. I know how to treat many creatures, and I can adapt to the stranger creatures of the galaxy, but there is some difficulty in feeding all of them. I had heard your company made food that managed to hit all of the nutritional needs of a creature. If I could work out some sort of deal to purchase these items in bulk I would be highly appreciative."

HK nodded
"Indeed, I have always tried to leave in balance with nature, protecting all beings who are a part of it, even as a droid. You will find great diversity on Abregado-Rae as result of it."
HK would lead Enga to one of the conference rooms, one of those oval tables with a holo-projector in the middle of it for presentations. HK took a seat by the table, offering one to Enga as well
"And yes, the MRE as we call it, I see how it can benefit your cause, and I am interested in aiding it, however, I must ask, do you have any partners in this? And did you contact any other organizations or governments for help?"
Well he needed to know whether Enga was just by himself or if he had more support, it could be one of those short-lived movements, after all, HK would not want to waste resources investing into something like that.

Enga took the chair when offered, seating himself around the ovular table as HK explained the food item Enga had heard of, and asked the question that he supposed he would have to answer eventually.

"While I don't have much support yet, aside from a few private donors, I have contacted several embassies in the Republic, who've showed positive feedback and have scheduled appointments with me, including representatives from Tython, Coruscant, and the Hapes Consortium. I've also begun negotiations with the Confederacy, and they've shown interest, but we haven't set up anything concrete with them yet."

"You see HK, I do not particularly care about governments, or creeds, or money, I just wish to spread shelters and such across all borders." He said, explaining his lack of concern for galactic politics. It wasn't really difficult as a Yuuzhan Vong to distance him from such things.

"In fact, you said you were an 'Observer' of this world. If I may, and if I can buy your MRE's, would allow me license to build a shelter here?"

HK nodded as he listened to Enga
"I will propose you this,"
He began
"I do love your idea, however, I have seen more than plenty of good ideas to burn out and die very quickly, so, I will give you a large shipment of MRE's for free, a gift to start you off, and we will draft a short-term contract for your organization."
He said as he tapped on one of the consoles in the table, opening a template document as he began editing it to fit the deal
"Once you will generate more support, gain more volunteers and members for your board in order to manage, we can extend the contract and I will allow permission for your shelters to be build here. In fact, we were working on a chain of planetary parks, we could merge the two project together and create reservoirs."
Soon, thankfully to amazing droid administrative properties, the draft of the contract would be complete
"But once you will prove to me that you have support and stable foundations on which this project can be build."
He looked to Enga
"In the mean time, you can say you have the support of Abregado-Rae, and should you speak to Protectorate Council, the Exarchs, or the Protector, let me know and I will join to back your case."
He then motioned to the draft
"Look over the draft and let me know. Simple proposal, short term like I said, shipments each month to your shelters, discount to ease your beginnings."

Enga listened as the droid gave his proposal, admittedly less than he hoped for, but in truth more than he had expected. A free shipment? Discounted prices to start? That was a deal, perhaps even a steal, and it gave Enga Joy to know that such kindness and compassion were in this strange galaxy, stranger yet from a non-organic creature such as HK-36. It seemed as Enga's business grew HK would allow him to build a shelter on this world, and renegotiate contracts, and even speak on his behalf to the leadership of the Omega Protectorate. All in all, it seemed the Yuuzhan Vong had made a powerful friend, in the most unlikely of places.

He examined the draft with eager eyes, and found nothing that he could object too. "This is quite the help Observer." He said, appreciation clear in his voice. "This is a wonderful start, and one I assure you will be put to good use." He said, as he reached to his pocket to find a pen. "Now, if I remember correctly, the people of your galaxy finalize contracts through writing your name on them?"
