The Republican Military forces commissioned this particular model of Star Defender to be created for its namesake: preservation. The Preservation-Class Star Defender was designed to act as a heavy, general support vessel that would preserve the lives of the Republican forces entering battle. It is aptly equipped with numerous air, space, and ground forces so that it may adequately offer support regardless of the combat theater. Though accumulating the resources to create vessels in general has been difficult for the Republic, the Preservation-Class Star Defender is proof that the faction is still a galactic force to be reckoned with.
