Description: Though the original design of the affectionately named A-wing was given life in the period immediately following the Battle of Yavin, where effective use of Starfighters had brought down a massive Imperial battle station, it wasn’t until later on during the Rebellion era that these Interceptors had taken flight in massive numbers. Devised by the combined brilliance Walex Blissex and the Rebellion General Jan Dodonna, the newest generation of interceptor had looked to their Clone Wars era cousins in order to find inspiration for the future.

Utilizing the designs of the Tammuz-an R-22 Spearhead, coupled with the knowledge they had attained by looking at various interceptors of the past, the pair - along with a daring pilot - set about to improve on what had come before. After several years, and various successes, the RZ-1 “A-Wing” entered the Rebellion’s service as their adopted, and primary Interceptor, at some point following the tumultuous Battle of Yavin. The records pertaining to this history are unclear, and as such, were unable to pinpoint the exact date at which the RZ-1 had entered widespread use within the Alliance to Restore the Republic’s armed forces.

However; shortly after the Battle of Endor and during the decline of the Galactic Empire thereafter, the A-wing had undergone a generational advancement as the Mark II had entered production, and service soon after.

This was where the history of the Chronos began.

Pushed into service after the Battle of Endor, the RZ-1 MkII that would eventually take the name of “The Chronos” drifted from Alliance Warship to New Republic Warship, as it’s pilots were replaced and rotated throughout the growing armada. It earned numerous battle honours over the years and was commanded by various commanders of note, before meeting its untimely demise during the Second Galactic Civil War. For nearly eight centuries, the wreck of the famed RZ-1 had remained preserved within the glacier surface of some long forgotten world, until disturbed by the galaxy-spanning war between the titanic forces of the resurgent One Sith and Republic forces. Found in the aftermath, along with the preserved skeleton of its former pilot, the Jedi Knight - Arcanus Sunstrider, carefully excised the crashed starfighter from it’s frozen grave and brought the vessel back from its enforced retirement to serve once again.

Using his status within the Republic Military, the newly dubbed “Chronos” had its systems and entire structure overhauled to the modern standard, so that the ancient starfighter would prove to be more than a match for various interceptors deployed during this newfound era. When the vessel was complete, and ready to embark on its first combat operation, the Galactic Republic had crumbled - and many of its Admiral’s had defected to other factions staking their claim in the great galactic game. This left the Jedi Arcanus adrift amongst the stars, as the religious body he had sworn himself to, was reviled by the masses for failing in their charge to defend the innocent and uphold the laws of the ailing Republic.

So, in the years following the Fall of Yutan and the Siege of Coruscant, the Chronos had become nothing more than an overpriced relic sailing atop the solar winds, as it’s owner searched for purpose - during the era dwindling of light.

ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Active Decoy System - As opposed to more conventional chaff, the Active Decoy System launches a self-propelled, droid brain-controlled, disposable unit designed to mimic a much larger target and seduce incoming projectiles or temporarily 'blind' targeting sensors. It is ineffective against stealthed opponents or weapons, but it can be fired 'blind' (i.e. if no attacker is detected, just incoming missiles). Only two rounds are carried, but if properly employed they will make a missile volley miss or scramble a conventional fire control solution for several seconds.

Strengths:
  • Distributed Duties: By splitting the roles in the bomber up, each operator (pilot, gunner, bombardier) is far more effective at their job, able to devote almost their entire attention to a single task. These craft are hard to catch off guard, and are eerily precise in bombing runs.
  • They brought extra: A pair of conventional warhead launcher is not the only heavy-hitting armament, the H-Wing also features a bomb bay capable of fitting much larger forms of ordnance such as proton bombs or thermal detonator cluster munitions.
Weaknesses:
  • Overspecialization: The other side of the coin is that if any of the personnel are incapacitated it is very difficult to assume control of those stations (though backups exist for piloting controls at all three cockpits). The ion cannon turret and bomb bay cannot be controlled from anywhere but the designated seat.
  • Strikers over Fighters: The H-Wng II is distinctive and easy to pick out of even a swarm of strike craft. Enemy commanders know to target it first.

DESCRIPTION
As the TCAF began to organized and form they identified a distinct lack of really heavy-hitting firepower in their forces. While the Centaran Gunsip was a serious threat to similar sized vessels and frigates against even larger ships (uncommon in pirate fleets but not unheard of) the inventory of the MPTC was hurting. Taking page from the Rebel Alliance of yore (and because of the lack of materials to mass produce large line of battle ships) shipwrights on Jabiim developed a large and powerful strike bomber to fill the role.

The H-Wing II follows a similar design concept as the venerable BTS-A2 it is based off, with a multiple distinct cockpits and an emphasis on distribution of labor. It is similarly armed, with a dorsal ion cannon turret and forward mounted laser cannons and warhead launchers. A large bomb bay is a new addition, designed to give the craft a punch similar to that of the larger K-Wing Bombers.

Defenses are focused on very heavy armor and shielding and enough engine power to get the craft where it needs to go. It is not a quick vessel though, and is easily caught by interceptors or pursuit fighters, but the vessel is rugged enough and generally has enough firepower to punch through, though doctrine calls for it to be escorted anyways.

The H-Wing II is fairly large and not typically carried in hangers, but it has a powerful hyperdrive (and two astromechs, for added utility) to keep up with any fleet formation.

ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • High Maneuverability Verniers: The odd tail like prong jutting aft from the cockpit consists of a set of thrusters that, combined with the spread x-foils, give the vessel the ability to conduct extremely high-g turns, practically spinning on a dime.

Strengths:
  • Extremely Quick: This new model Jedi Starfighter is very fast, able to keep pace with the classic interceptors like A-Wings' or TIE/INs.
  • Super Maneuverability: The vernier thrusters and x-foils allow the xxx to pull some incredible maneuvers, assuming one can maser the controls.
Weaknesses:
  • Difficult Controls: An incredibly difficult vessel to control, the Gyrfalcon is termed a Jedi Starfighter largely because the technique to properly fly one requires either force ability to fly intuitively or decades of experience. The former is easier and more readily accessible for the MPTC.
  • Not Deployed in Squads: For a variety of reasons, the Gyrfalcon sees very limited deployment. It is typically used for special missions or as a solo reconnaissance scout.
  • Limited Armament: The Gyrfalcon lacks any hard striking capability, featuring only a pair of rapid fire laser cannons. It is an excellent interceptor when used against other strike craft but simply is not a threat to harder targets.

DESCRIPTION
The I/J-7B 'Gyrfalcon' Interceptor did not start its life intended for use by the much-maligned Jedi, but the realities of its design all but necessitated that development. Originally intended to a very fast interceptor to balance out strike fighter squadrons, the craft suffered from a skyrocketing development cost that was only partially balanced out by its remarkable capabilities. In the end a limited production run was authorized, and the fighters that came off the line proved to be extraordinarily difficult to master, even for seasoned test pilots.

Defenses are fairly standard, and armament is light but effective, with a pair of high precision rapid fire laser cannons concealed up forward. The only truly exceptional thing about the fighter are its speed and maneuverability. But they came with a price, the interceptor proved unwieldy and borderline unsafe for wider deployment.

For a while it seemed like the craft was doomed to failure, production was halted and the limited stocks relegated to hanger duty. Then a bored Jedi Master loosely associated with the brand new Trade Council Provisional Order took one out for a ride. Thrilled with the capabilities of the small fighter, he oversaw the transfer of most of the interceptors to the nominal control of the TCPO. There, piloting training focused specifically on utilizing a connection with the force to compensate for the difficult controls, flying by 'instinct' in the manner of famous Jedi aces like Anakin Skywalker and Plo Koon.

Thus the interceptor with a troubled past became well known as the MPTC's own 'Jedi Starfighter,' and it's presence now all but confirms the movement of one of the few Jedi who have chosen to align with the new order.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification: High Velocity Mass Driver Cannon, Four Classifications
  • Class 1 (LLKG- L/42) - Light Turret - (13cm bore) Equivalent to a rapid-fire turbolaser.
  • Class 2 (MLKG- L/44) - Medium Turret - (26cm bore) Equivalent to heavy, rapid-fire turbolaser.
  • Class 3 (HLKG-L/62) - Heavy Turret - (38cm bore) Roughly equivalent to an 'Extreme' weapon emplacement (10 turbolasers).
  • Class 4 (SLKG- L/76.8) - Superheavy /Artillery Turret - (61cm bore) Roughly equivalent to three 'Extreme' weapon emplacements (60 turbolasers). ()
Ammunition Type: Various Kinetic Rounds
  • KEP - Kinetic Energy Penetrator: The standard round. A solid Tunqstoid core with a soft Agrinium jacket. Fired at very high velocities, it is very effective against basically all types of armor plating, but is unremarkable when dealing with Particle Shields.
  • ECJ - Energy Coating Jacketed: Developed during the centuries of war with the Hutts, the ECJ rounds features a standard shell with a ion charge on the tip that activates after being fired. This wraps the round in an ionized field, similar to a Ion Torpedo, that does incredible damage to shields on impact. However the round is weak against armor and hull.
  • HEC - High Explosive Charge: A fairly conventional round with a high yield explosive core. Designed to shatter hull and wreak havoc on internals, but somewhat weaker against dedicated armor plating and shields.
  • PC - Proton Charge: A fairly standard Proton Round, appropriately sized up, very destructive. Somewhat volatile and not produced in large amounts.
  • FBR - Flechette Bursting Round: A large area of effect round that saturates the immediate explosive zone with high velocity shards. Lethal to strike craft, but hard to target. Typically used as an area-denial weapon, rather than actual point defense.
Ammunition Capacity: Varies by Ship, typically very high (effectively unlimited).

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Multiple Ammunition Types
Strengths:
  • High Damage
  • Generally Very Effective Against Armor - Originally designed to punch through solid armor plating.
  • Adaptable Ammunition Types - Different rounds tend to be extremely effective against one particular type of defense, but inferior against others.
Weaknesses:
  • Barrel Consolidation - More power in a single gun makes it a lot easier to cripple firepower by destroying turrets.
  • All Kinetic, all the time - No need to power up Ray Shields.
DESCRIPTION
The standard weapon on Lakonian warships for thousands of years has been a variation of a mass driver cannon. Initially used because turbolaser technology was unknown to the early colonies, the weapons proved very effective against early Tionese warships and was retained even as more advanced technology became widespread. (Conversely, the Lakonian Colonies were quick to adopt shields). Over the years the weapon systems have changed forms and become more advanced, and the modern version is known simply as a 'Lakon Kinetic Gun,' often abbreviated to 'LKG' or called simply a 'naval gun.'

[KEP & HEC Rounds Destroying a Target]

Lakonian kinetic weapon technology is incredibly mature, largely due to the fact that they never discarded use of conventional ballistics. Comparable to Verpine Shattergun technology as far as approximate muzzle velocities and power go, but appropriately sized up. Consequently the weapon mounts used by the Colonial Fleet tend to be, on a mount-for-mount basis, more powerful than a turbolaser turret, due to the extremely high muzzle velocities achieved by the weapon systems and nature of the rounds fired. They are very power hungry and require plenty of ammunition storage however, and as a rule Lakonian warships feature fewer individual turrets than similar-sized vessels with conventional weapons.

[Batteries of SH Turretshttps://i.imgur.com/LcNJ30Q.jpg]

There are four classes of turret, each detailed above. In the Colonial Fleet they are usually known as the Light, Medium, Heavy, and Superheavy Guns, though they do have specific caliber designations as well. Weapons are arranged into batteries usually tied in to linked Fire Control Gun Director systems, and targeted and fired from CIC, allowing for excellent grouping precision against single targets. The weapons are also able to be controlled manually (that is, by local gun crews) which increases their versatility but dramatically reduces their accuracy and precision.

[Pair of Mounted Heavy Turrets]

The Heavy variant is a twin-barrel weapon, with both barrels being part of the same weapon system and thus required to fire on the same target. The Superheavy version however is two distinct 'rifles' on a single turret, and both can be aimed and targeted independently and feature a gimballed mount so they have some yaw. The guns are very accurate at range though hitting a target is still largely a function of the host combat system.

[Light Turret Firing]

Otherwise the features for all four classes are fairly similar. They all have auto-loading drums that can hold a variety of different round types and pick and choose what to fire based on operator input, computer decision-making, or manual loading. Rate of fire starts at approximately 120 rounds a minute for the Light Guns and gets progressively slower, with the artillery mounts firing about 30 rounds a minute (each barrel).

[FBR Rounds in Actionhttps://i.imgur.com/14a56Cy.jpg]

It must be noted that these are dedicated capital ship weapons and cannot be placed on starfighters. They require large amounts of power and large ammunition stores. THe larger mounts cannot be fitted on smaller ships either, with Heavy Mounts requiring at least a 200m ship and the Superheavy mounts requiring a 400m ship at a minimum.

DESCRIPTION

Built in the early years, months before his ascension to Knighthood, the blade that was to become known as Calesvol was nothing more than a lifeless hilt that produced a brilliant azure blade when ignited. As the Padawan, and then Knight thereafter had borne the blade in his adventures across the stars - a bond began to form between the sabre and its bearer. One that would echo throughout the Jedi’s many years of service to the Republic, and the ideals of civilization after the corrupted institution fell. From this bond, the crystal within would mature and grow with the bearer, becoming ever more a part of the Jedi that wielded its casing with every passing year. It serves little purpose on the battlefield, but when brandished by the, now, Jedi Master - it resonated within the aetheric realm of the Force. Bathing those around him in the sapphire light of the ignited blade, and the radiance of Arcanus’ valiant soul manifested in reality.

As the Galactic Republic waged a great war against their most hated foes, the One Sith, the Jedi had been forced to adapt to an ever-changing theatre, thus bringing about the modifications in which to better his weapon. To this end, Arcanus had turned his mind’s eye towards the past and delved into the ancient history of the Jedi Order. From the sacred texts, now nothing more than despoiled vellum within the sundered halls of Yutan, the Epicanthix had refashioned his lifeless hilt into the vessel that it would soon become. While the ivory plastoid casing had remained the same, the Jedi toiled for many days and many nights to fashion nearly a dozen immaculate components from the precious, and rare material known to all as Songsteel. The luminescent and light plates were forged from a stave that once belonged to his Teacher, and the man that had bequeathed his surname to his pupil. Though much of the metal was lost in the reforging process, what precious metal had remained after the last hammering blow was struck, would become the unseen tribute to Darion Sunstrider.

Such an act may have been considered forbidden in the eyes of his more traditionalist kin, but Arcanus had seen it as a way to honour the memory of his adoptive father - and act as his emotional bedrock in dire times.

With the casing forged and the interior circuitry enhanced by ancient arts, the once lifeless lightsaber found itself reborn by the hands of its bearer. Though, it wasn’t until the Jedi Master had been lauded as the Hero of Tanaab, that this nameless sabre was given a name. As the brilliant sapphire blade had severed the hands of some Sith Lord, who hailed from the Pancath Reach, he spat forth a curse as his dying eyes locked with the pulsating plasmatic edge. Calesvol was the word that he spoke, again and again, until his dying breath. He knew that the spoken word was from the Panathan tongue of Epicant, but as his mind translated the word to Galactic Basic, it embodied another name entirely. Caliburn. This word held several meanings across the stars, but as the Jedi Master had delved once more into the scriptures of the past, he found that a single phrase was often repeated, time and again, in direct correlation to those aforementioned words. The blade that Arcanus forged, and refurbished with his Master’s memory, would become known as…

The End of Empires.

Strengths:
  • [+] Block's blaster bolts, lightsabeer blades, etc. (See Lightsaber)
  • [+] Lightweight, easy to use.
Weaknesses:
  • [-] Doesn't possess the same cutting properties as a normal lightsaber.
  • [-] Entirely non-lethal due to the Bondar crystal.
  • [-] Does not work underwater.
DESCRIPTION
The lightsaber, discovered by Kirie Ito in an ancient abbey on the world of Centares, was once used by the New Jedi Order of old. The weapon was believed to be part of a set used to train younglings and Padawans. The training saber worked as an excellent stepping stone to full saber combat, as instead of cutting when it struck someone, it would instead stun its target. This was due to its Bondar crystal, an exceedingly rare mineral found only in asteroids in the Alderaan sector. Kirie discovered the saber and took it as her own after she was lead to the ancient weapon while exploring with the Mara-Perlemian Trade Council Order. The weapon was rusted and worn from centuries of abandonment, but nevertheless was remarkably preserved and perfectly functional when it was discovered.

  • Can miss, especially when fired at smaller, more maneuverable ships.
DESCRIPTION
More unusual (though no more iconic) than the prevalence of kinetic guns on Lakonian ships is their continued usage of long-range antiship missiles. In an age when missiles are typically seen as a short-ranged high-damage weapon, Lakonian ships still utilize nuclear and other types of warheads, in defiance of old Republic prohibitions and all conventions of war.

The various munitions developed by the Lakonian Colonial Fleet are all fired from the same basic system. Known as the Mk 14 HMLS (Heavy Missile Launch System) these electromagnetic launch tubes are based on similar principles as the ubiquitous LKG's and accelerate their loaded weapon to a very high initial velocity.

There are five standard types of munitions fired by the Mk 14 HMLS, and all perform functionally the same in flight. After leaving the tube and gaining some distance on the launching ship and any nearby friendlies, the missiles typically activate their High-Yield Fusion Thrusters, resulting in yet another massive acceleration boost as they close to their target. This consumes approximately 2/3's of their propellant fuel. Alternatively the weapons may maneuver first (to get on the appropriate vector) and then activate the booster, they do not have to be launched facing the target.

Mid-course correction is provided by a set of conventional Ion Thrusters which can maneuver the weapon. However these are fairly low-power devices, and they cannot correct for extreme deviations. In such an instance the weapon would likely miss and self-destruct either on command or after a set time after the planned intercept point.

Terminal guidance is achieved by the onboard computer/targeting system, fed by multiple sensor inputs on the weapon itself and also linked up with ship-based sensors. Thus the weapon can achieve intercept with its target even if itself, or its parent ship is being jammed and is unable to acquire a solution. At LTTM (Last Time To Maneuver) the weapon burns the last third of its propellant fuel. At this point a target vessel is very likely to be hit unless it performs extremely taxing maneuvers. In such a case the weapon would be unable to correct itself and would miss the target.

The missiles are large compared to standard warheads, but include very light shields and radar-reduction systems to give them a low sensor profile. This, combined with their high speed and extensive ECCM systems makes them hard to target by most shipboard turrets (manually controlled turrets may as well not even try). However if they can be isolated by targeting sensors they are not exceedingly difficult to shoot down. This is most easily achievable by strike craft, which then have to grapple with the very limited intercept window due to the high speed.

The various missiles able to be launched by the tubes are detailed below.

The impact and detonation of a SFGM-46C is equivalent to the impact of multiple Assault Concussion Missiles, to say nothing of the radiation cloud that follows. Should the warhead be disabled the impact would be comparable to that of a conventional concussion missile, thanks solely to the high speed the weapon travels at.

The SFGM-57F reaches a terminal point and then launches a spread of a dozen smaller warheads. It has a similar overall damage profile as the 46C but distributes the energy across a much wider area, and is extremely effective against shields or to saturate escort ships.

The SFGM-9B is an anti-missile, missile, and detonates after acquiring an inbound volley of warheads. It includes a mix of electromagnetic, physical, and transmitted countermeasures and is very effective at disrupting enemy munitions. It is entirely ineffective against ships, however.

The SFGM-21J is a full size thermonuclear fusion device, and strikes with the force of several volleys of Assault Concussion Missiles. In modern warfare it is unlikely to destroy a ship outright but if it were to strike an un-shielded vessel could do incredible damage.

The SBC-84A is a fairly recent development, based off Dampner Aerosol. It utilizes a similar feature but spreads the gas over a very wide area while still retaining coherency. The gas absorbs energy and dramatically reduces the impact of turbolasers. It only lasts approximately 20-30 seconds before dispersing to uselessness, or after 3-5 volleys.

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • N/A

Strengths:
  • Guns the Size of Corvettes: The 134cm Hypervelocity Guns are the size and mass of an attack corvette, and sling a projectile 4.3 feet wide at incredible speeds. They are very long ranged and they hurt.
Weaknesses:
  • Sheep with a Bazooka: Much like the early Mon Calamari Cruisers, the XXX was born a warship. With a formerly spacious and roomy interior that is the antithesis of damage control, the XXX relies heavily on its dense shields for defense. If those go down or are bypassed, the ship has respectable armor but is simply not designed for an extended engagement against proper warships.
  • No Secondary Battery: Not to discount the missile tubes and a very healthy point defense suite, but the XXX has no intermediate caliber guns, and is simply not equipped for a close-quarters fight against cruisers or the like.

DESCRIPTION
A privately made explorer and colony ship funded a thousand years by some people no one cares about. The hulk was recovered and refitted with the biggest goddamn cannons anyone could find and now the Liberation Army uses it when they absolutely, positively, have to blow up a battlecruiser.

The basic concept for the ship only worked because the internals of the ship were loose enough (i.e. not compartmentalized like a warship would be) that they could fit the rails and support equipment in first and then reinforce around it. Among other things, it makes the internals of the ship an absolute nightmare to navigate. There was still a massive amount of modification needed. Whole sections of the ship were torn out to make way for a much larger main reactor, weapon emplacements, crew berthings, supply facilities, fabrication shops, and so on. Science labs were torn out and replaced with hangers and equipment bays. Up forward, entire sections of what had been the main living area were simply leveled out to allow for installation of the main battery. And oh, what a thing to see.

They took goddamn planetary defense cannons and put them on a ship. Absolute madmen. 134cm HVs-15 guns, modified for turreted shipboard use, installed in 10 triple turrets. The weapons are of the low-rate of fire variety of HVC, but with appropriately higher muzzle velocity. They are enormously powerful and accurate and, at range, make the ship capable of inflicting serious damage on a vessel many times its size.

Ever conscientious of the risk that strike craft pose to large lumbering warships, not to mention the existence of shield-penetrating missiles, the korrinas fighters installed dozens of point defense turrets all along the hull. These are automated, very rapid fire gatling lasers that have complete coverage around the vessel, and are limited primarily by their comparatively low damage per shot.

While having the XXX in commission is definitely impressive, General Command has found it difficult to man and utilize the ship in operations thus far. It is a rare sight on the battlefield so far.
