Strengths:
Near Invulnerable: The Praesidium-class shield erects an energy dome around a specific object, giving it near invulnerability to attack. Whilst not all shields are infallible, standard turbolasers, ion cannons and missiles will find it next to impossible to penetrate the shield. Of course, if a Star Destroyer was rammed into it, then it would collapse.

Weaknesses:
Size: The Praesidium-class shield is only retrofitted for a specific area of 1000-2000m (Star Destroyer length). For example, if hostiles were caught inside the dome upon activation, then they are trapped in there with you.

Energy Output: The Praesidium-class shield requires an enormous amount of energy to keep it activated, to the point that standard armament and other defences found on a Star Destroyer would be impossible to use without it's deactivation (cannot use weaponry when activated).

EMP: Whilst an EMP blast would not be able to penetrate the dome from the outside, if such a blast were to occur within the dome, near it's generator, then the shield would be deactivation. The same effect would occur with an Ion weapon was fired upon the generator, effectively ionizing the generations insides.

Description: Long ago, the Galactic Empire sought to create an Imperial Deflector shield generator that could afford any starship near-invulnerability against standard attacks. Naming it Shield X, the generator was stolen by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War, the technology was used during Operation Ram's Head. Following the operation, the technologies usage remained undocumented. At some point later, the Empire attempted to recreate the technology at a secret space installation. This base was destroyed by a Rebel B-wing strike force, and the project was supposedly stopped for good.

The rumors of Shield X was spread among academics, scientists and communities for centuries, as the echoes of the Galactic Empire and their technological feats became topics of discussion and debate. The concept of creating a shield that allowed a ship or structure to become near invulnerable to attack has been a topic well discussed and explored for centuries, with scientists never figuring out a way to create such a technological marvel. With the superstition that this was once achieved in a secret project, such as Shield X, the technology was well pursued well up until the 400s ABY.

Following the unleash of the Gulag Plague, placing the galaxy into an era known only as the Four Hundred Year Darkness, Shield X became lost with other pieces of history, long forgotten by academics, scientists and developers, whose focus came onto the Gulag Virus and how to repel it's effects on civilization, infrastructure, economics and the environment.

In the 830s ABY, following the end of the Four Hundred Year Darkness and into the new Chaos era, the Imperial Remnant was once again reformed. Archives and records were salvaged and recovered by the new Imperials, as they attempted to recreate their own Empire. As part of their preparations, the Imperials begun the JN Project on Duro, an experimental cloning program designed to breed Force-sensitive clone soldiers. During their research, the Shield X project was rediscovered from the archives and records that had initially been salvaged. The Imperials debated whether to revive the project, so as to put into use around their base for defensive purposes, but thought otherwise due to budget constraints that were already being spent on an already expensive project.

In 844 ABY, Darth Ayra traveled to Duro after receiving intelligence that an old, abandoned base- that held a secret Imperial project- was located there. Arriving via the Initium, Darth Ayra discovered what was left of the JN Program in the form of a ruin- remnants of the base that housed the program- and a clone, who had been living there ever since the attack that had destroyed the base. Learning that the Galactic Republic, led by the Jedi, were responsible for destroying the base, Darth Ayra coerced the clone into helping her recover what was left of the JN Program. Together, they ventured deeper into the facility, recovering the files that were stored below before the flood protocols of the facility activated, submerging it's underground sections under water.

Reviewing the files that Darth Ayra had recovered, she discovered the Shield X project for herself. Adapting the project to her needs, the Dark Lord envisioned herself encased within a shield that made her near invulnerable to attack. Utilizing her assets, she reached out to Ajira Cardei, following their previous business arrangements, to discuss the possibility of her arranging the supply of plasma for the shields power source. As Ajira made the necessary arrangements, Darth Ayra- under the alias of Alicia Drey- began Project Praesidium alongside Camellia Swift, so as to see her vision come to fruition.

Named the Praesidium-class shield, the ulterior hull of the generator is made out of Durasteel, so as to give it structural support and greater outside protection. But within rests the Adamithium core, a rare metal utilized for it's energy resistant properties. Lowering the risk of a power overload, the Adamithium regulates the plasma distribution from the generator to the deflector shields installed on the ship in question. Diatium cells found on the outside of the hull to read power output and distribution, as per the normal use of this material.

The Praesidium-class shield thus produces an a near invulnerable shield surrounding a ship, that makes that ship- for a short amount of time- impervious to attack. The drawbacks of this shield requires the ship to remain stationary- effectively stranded when under attack- as all of the ships power is diverted to the generator. When the shield is activated, the ship in question is incapable of returning fire or firing upon another target. It is also impossible for the ship to enter hyperspace whilst the shield is active, due to power being diverted to the generator.

Inevitably, the shield will fail when power runs out. When power runs out, that's it for the ship. The shield is a last gasp, last option for when circumstances are dire and there are no alternatives. It will save your life, but only for a short amount of time. Only three of these shields were built. One was created for Darth Ayra, the other for Camellia Swift and the last for Ajira Cardei. No other shields of this type are currently in existence.

It's clear that a lot of work has been put into this.

I'd probably change this to the people who would have access to it (Camellia, Ajira, Darth Arya).

Production: Semi-Unique
I'd also probably put "3" behind this in parentheses.

The technology template now has mandatory "Strengths" and "Weaknesses" headings. I see that you have these ideas written in the description itself, but they need to be listed there as well per the factory rules.

How does starship size play into this submission? Reading the Naboo thread, this appears to be limited to larger vessels. Does it have a minimum and/or maximize size that it can cover?

an invulnerable shield surrounding a ship
Please make this "near invulnerable" throughout the submission. Undoubtedly this should be an extremely hard shield to crack with all of the work put into it, its downsides, and limited production run. However as a matter of principle, I cannot approve something that gives someone unequivocal invincibility for any period of time. There are always extenuating circumstances or devices which could be introduced later on that might be able to defeat this device.
