SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:

 • Minerva: A HUD system combining a myriad of sensors to provide a good overall view of the battlespace around the armour, good for finding evidence or spotting perps.

 • Valkyrie System: A stim and med system built into the armour to allow the troops to keep going for longer and deal with minor injuries.

 • Hermes: One of Locke and Key’s signature comms system, provide secure communications for the armour wearers.

 • Ancile Shield: A wrist-mounted buckler shield that can be thrown as a physical projectile.
Weaknesses:

 • Weak at the joints: The plates of the armour may pack significant defence, but the duramesh bodysuit is vulnerable where it is exposed.

 • Exposed storage: Without any inbuilt storage any ammunition or grenades have to be stored on the armour, where they are vulnerable to attack.

 • Deceived: If one of the Hermes comms within the unit is compromised then all armour users can be fed false data that will be reflected on their HUDs by the Minerva. Although the Minerva itself is a secure comms system, linking to an unsecured comms system allows enemies a vector to attack the armour through slicing based attacks.

 • I cannae do it Cap'n, I don't have enough drugs: the Valkyrie does allow the armour users to fight harder than they normally would, but the supply of drugs available is only limited. The Valkyrie can provide a short boost or limited healing before running out of drugs, leaving the system unable to help the wearer any further.

 • Sense me, sense you: The Minerva the suit is reliant on to examine the world around it relies on various sensors scattered across the surface of the armour to collect the data which allows the Minerva to provide its overview of the battlespace around it. These sensors though are very vulnerable to being destroyed by battle damage, leaving the armour HUD blind of the additional data it uses to warn the wearer of threats or running

 • It's all too much: The sensor data provided by the Minerva can be overwhelming, meaning that even though the HUD picks out key threats it is very easy for a user to lose track of potential threats.

 • The Ancile Shield only has limited power, a side effect of it's thrown ability, meaning it can be overwhelmed by repeated attacks. Needing to charge before it can be used again.
DESCRIPTION

Contracted to construct a set of armour for upcoming security forces Locke and Key had a very specific mandate. They wanted a suit of armour that would provide protection without being threatening or being a military threat. Police officers are forced to deal with a variety of common weapons, from blasters to knives. They don’t often have to face off against heavy weapons, but do need to chase down fugitives. So the armour couldn’t be too heavy, trading off protections for movement.

The final version of the armour was built around a Duramesh bodysuit, providing a first level of protection with plates of armourplast settled on to of that. The ceramic armour allowed the armour to gain a solid level of protection while remaining light enough to run in.

In addition to the armour of the suit, the armour also contains several signature Locke and Key systems, including the Minerva which gives to users a virtual view of the area around them through the use of sensors studded all over the suit, sensors which also provided a weakness for the suit, sensors that could be damaged and provided a vulnerability to ionic or emp attacks. The Hermes provides a secure comms, while the Valkyrie gives each suit of armour a small medical functionality.
