STRENGTHS

• Eyes Everywhere: Being scout ships, the main focus of the Pincerbug design revolves around sensor and communication suites which are comprehensive and very sophisticated. Additionally their relatively cheap design and droid brain means that they can be fielded in great numbers and even deployed without pilots, allowing for even small forces to use them to their fullest extent without expending too much manpower in the process.

WEAKNESSES

• Search and Evade: Combat is not at all a priority for the Pincerbug, light armor and somewhat underwhelming weaponry as well as a larger target profile does not lend it towards excelling in starfighter combat. It does boast very good speed and maneuverability however and as such it is better at fleeing from combat than being involved in it.

DESCRIPTION
With the galaxy itself having changed and the need for proper intelligence a priority now more than ever before, the engineers of Sanguine Defense Works were eager to capitalize on the situation and ensure that the Sith Order would have the tools at hand to conquer the new galaxy just as they had been plotting to do with the old. The Pincerbug was initially planned to be a sort of droid-controlled reconnaissance satellite that could be deployed through hyperspace and relay information back to their original fleets or ships at great distances.

However, given the rather dangerous nature of unknown hyperspace travel destinations as well as potential hostiles when entering into a system the droid satellite idea was soon replaced by a dedicated starfighter design. Borrowing many aspects from its initial incarnation, the Pincerbug would be a reconnaissance starfighter packed full of various sensors and methods of scanning as well as a long-range and secured communication suite. The droid aspect was retained as well, allowing for the Pincerbug to be dispatched without a crew of any kind.

While not intended to be a combat ship outright, the vessel would still be outfitted with laser cannons for defense against fighters and a beam cannon turret for deterring larger vessels such as patrol boats or even corvettes. This compliment of weaponry alongside the droid capability allows for the Pincerbug to be deployed as the fighter element of patrol fleets or dedicated scouting fleets without the need for other fighters.
