Public Pilgrimage to the stars.

Sunlight rolled across the mountains, the clouds sweeping past overhead upon winds that would blow all across the world. trees swaying below on the valley floors as the shuttles of the ground folk soared starward and returned. The rumbling and grinding of the mines below fading into but a whisper at these heights. Often yo'tek would gaze upon their journey for the great beyond with envy. Not for just of their destination unseen but the journey, the place where wings could not dream to take you, from where mighty warriors and damnable fiends hail. Yet the spirit of Rishii would never waver, never would it tremble even when the bug peoples descended upon her faithful. She knew the test that would face them would be one beyond even her bravest, Rishii knows the force, the way it moves and flows between her trees. How it curves her mountains and gives breath to the Maungur at her poles, the rage that fills them and the power that would shatter the soul of any unworthy who even pretends to control it. It is upon the peak of the home mountain that yo'tek kneels now, his head bowed in front of the elders who poured their knowledge into him. The wardens and warriors who beat into him their might and muscle stood over the even not in tutorship of him but in pride, at the vessel, they had shaped.

"Years have passed since you began your studies of the ancient arts. Each one of us has given unto you our years of knowledge and wisdom." The chieftain herself stood over Yo'tek, her wings adorned in the bones of Chiefs long past, her throne adorned with the skull of the Maungur who came and slept eternally upon the foundation of our village. "Our people have always been the chosen of mother Rishii and she has finally shown us her long-awaited champion, generations have passed waiting for the moment she would ask of us something. The time has come young one that we prove to her that we are worthy of her gifts, the home she has built for us, the wars she has challenged us with. She has called upon a truly blessed one, the pride of our clutch to travel to her." She placed a hand upon Yo'teks' head and bowed her own. "you will go to the maungur jungles, commune with mother Rishii, and seek your destiny at her hands."With the last words spoken, she knelt and presented yo'tek with her staff, the weapon of the first champion of Rishii, the chieftain that fought alongside kit-Fisto and drove the Genonosians from our homes. An Exonium staff said to be able to crack the very rocks it strikes, generations passed this holy relic from chieftain to chieftain finally fate has come to rest it in his talons.

As Yo'tek stood to a thunderous bird song of the village, holding his new blessings aloft he bathed in their reverence before taking flight off of the peak, a very long journey had begun. the bones whistling in the wind as he took to the skies, the world he knew falling away behind him as the trees raced past down below. Rishii's great tapestry tumbling past with every mile, even now it is a truly awe-inspiring sight. Life in its very essence, shaped and at one with Rishii. Countless souls down below, breathing and living upon the wonderous land we were given. At the northernmost point of the world, the holy jungles where the Maungur reside. Towering monsters of mindless rage and force, holy vessels of Rishii's will, and upon their territory Yo'tek would make communion with Rishii herself. The flight will be long and take a great deal of skill to complete, the sheer length of the journey will require him to take care of his body and mind. hundreds if not thousands of miles from his home. lies his destination, a jungle imbued with emotion and power.

As the days slipped by, Yo'tek would fly by day and roost in the lonely mountain caves by night, ancient and hallowed sites where in some cases candles from ancient prayers lay unlit, offerings desiccated from years of laying unwitnessed by the eyes of the faithful. With days of flight wearing on his shoulders he knelt to rest, lighting the candles and whispering a short prayer in thanks for the clear skies that Rishii has blessed him with thus far. As the last word leaves his beak, a huff breaks the serenity. taking up his staff yo'tek smiled as he turned to face a jungle Wampa coming back to its cave after the days' hunt. this huge muscled monster towered over him and let forth a bellowing roar that shook him to his core. Yet he had never felt more alive, Rishi had blessed him with his first test, to fight while fatigued and flightless, to fend off against something so very strong after he was so very weak. it was the first to move, taking step after lumbering step towards him, the clawed fists flexing as the foam at its mouth mixed with the red of its fresh kill. Yo'tek steadied himself and raised his staff aggressively, the voices in the back of his head belonging to his warrior master "Fool! again the wrong position, you do it as if it's intentional!" But it always was, waiting for his enemy to overpower him and be left parrying blow after blow was a quick way to be pushed back. Then time after time he would show his master that pushing forward, driving the attack was always to get the advantage. even on defensive training he would rise to meet his foe and put them on their tails, this beast would be no different.

The staff slid forward in his grip, a swift probing strike pounded against the Wampas belly, forcing a grunt out of it as the green burst of energy flashed from the staffs' tip. Without a moment of stagger, the beast responded, slashing with feral haste at the intruder into his nest. the huge claw was powerful, a single strike would be enough to tear the birds head from his shoulders. With a quick upward swing he jabbed the staff into its left ribs, the force sending the beast tumbling forward with its swing. the staggered steps it took carried it past the bird, meeting its motions with an arching swing to the back of its spine. The brilliant flash of green muted against the beasts thick shagged fur, but the crack and hum of the excited Exonium rang through. With a mighty crash, the beast hit the ground a victim of its incredible weight and strength. Yo'tek flourish his staff to his back and gave a small bow as if he had bested a sparring partner, his chuckle was cut short, however, the beast clambered to its feet as Yo'teks' eyes grew wide as he witnessed what should have been an easy victory be denied. the beast launched itself upon him again as yo'tek lept backward composing himself before attacking again, each swing the creature made was hulking and overarm wide and with the flashing of claw. always it left its belly open. The woosh of its arm narrowly passing his head akin to the passing of a starship, the roar was its engines screaming past. Never had he seen strength like this, but he would not let it overcome him. as it raised its arm again Yo'tek stabbed the tip of the spear into its stomach then upwards into the jaw of this beast. A Whump then a sickening crunch as he watched the teeth of the beast crack against each other. blood pouring from its lips again as it hesitated from the anguish, its eyes turned from rage to fear, a quivering pleading look painting it as it stumbled back cowering as if wishing for mercy. Yo'tek did not hesitate, with a blissful feeling of rage in his heart he felt Rishii guide his staff. driving back then downwards across the beasts temple. Another Whump and another crunch.

Yo'tek would awaken remembering not what happened after that moment, the adrenaline that coursed through him taking hold of his very mind and spirit, he felt the pelt against which he slept, soft and rugged. freshly cut Wampa fur was an incredible feeling. Yet then he felt pain... his chest his heart. Strained from the fight already on a spirit of the empty lung. The body of the creature would not be wasted, but this feeling was more than exhaustion. The creature was bested and he took what was his, the victory was plain to be seen. The feeling did not go away as he rolled up the pelt of the beast, tusks binding the pelt into a sleeping cloth. What was this feeling? He took flight as he pondered it, he won this was not the feeling of victory death had been dealt like any hunter would have done. The conflict rode with him for miles before he could bury it, more and more it nibbled at his head. The beast was beaten... its life was his to take. Then it struck him, the feeling of the force of rishii. The death of the creature affected it as if when it was killed it was darkness delt. a fight already won but finished beyond reason. Greed for death was the way of the Maungur, this pain must be what drives them. Would this really be what drives him? What drives Rishii?

For days yo'tek flew, this problem clawing sharper than the beast ever could, and finally, he arrived. the jungle was nothing he had ever seen before. The legends of old could not do it justice, the trees here grew not tall but vast, greater than any he had ever seen, a village could be built within every one of them. He allowed his beak to hang open as the sight flooded his vision, even as his talons touched the earth he could not believe he was here, the place where rishii was strongest. He could hear her, the energy of her being swirling about the plain he stood in. he felt as if he could touch the entire planet from here, every living beast and plant. bending in the winds of the world turning and tumbling through the stars. "I.. Have come as you decreed" He declared aloud, stepping tentatively through the glade expecting a booming voice to welcome him for his hard journey.

None came.

"I have..." He was confused, unsure of what to say. stammering as if a chick asking for a date with the War Chief's daughter (a memory and weeks extra exercise drill that was burnt into his memory). As the minutes of attempting to commune turned into hours he was at a loss... was this not the place? How could it not be? This was his purpose why would Rishi shun him now? He had come all this was how could she snub him now?! In frustration, he slumped to his knees and offered up a prayer. His prayer felt different now, no longer an empty space between thoughts leased out to a dogmatic string of words. This felt real, as if Rishi was with him, sitting there before his mind in the form of a great winged beast. Its wings enough to encompass the world itself, on each feather a life from birth to death played out over countless impossible carvings and colorations. "Perhaps I was wrong about you hatchling. You may have more to learn than I anticipated." The voice sounded as if a whisper beside him, not one this great avian would have made. Yet that of a wise, knowing master. "I've seen you since before you were even hatched and I knew there was potential, but I feel as though this journey will be one with more lessons than you'd care to learn." The voice spoke again, Yo'tek turned from reverence to confusion again, he looked up at the great bird. "What do you mean... I have come here to take on the great pilgrimage!" he insisted, had he not understood the stories? was this some kind of trick?

The bird let out a soft chuckle. "Silly young thing, the pilgrimage is not a challenge itself. All that war behind your eyes and you can't tell what you're fighting. I brought you here because I knew you were already being challenged. That your will would be enough to carry you forth to learn, not to conquer. The first step of the journey will be knowing you will never complete it." She spoke as if she saw straight through him, his bravado and stoicism all a boys game for a girl with pretty plumage. Yo'tek opened his beak to argue but the voice came again drowning his quibbles "You will leave this world soon, but you will not begin your journey until you accept that there is no one place that someone can perch, no one throne that they can simply rule..." Yo'tek spoke up to finish her words "...One does not rule the sky, nor does he Shepard the mountains. There is only to be among the winds and be free... The first prayer." he nodded trying to understand what he was being told. "You have spoken that prayer to me countless times and not once have you said it with meaning, it is not for revelry of me that this is said nor is it out of devotion. It is a reminder. That at the end of all things we are not meant to choke and control. To be free is the greatest treasure of all." She spoke, the weight of her words from countless centuries of living crashing over him like the squall of a hurricane. "I... don't understand. We are your chosen are we not? to rule the mountain realm and stars?" He stammered, grasping desperately at his desire to control. "I have raised you not to rule the galaxy, but to be at one with it, to be the peace that sails its stars. Countless times your peoples have risen to grip the lands as kings queens and emperors and time after time they have been shown that there is no ruling the force" Yo'teks eyes flashed open again "The Maungur..." His head filled with memories of countless empires and kingdoms toppled by the great beasts of endless rage and fury. "Instruments of discipline, the force of the natural way. Hatred is freedom in of itself as is serenity. But Dominance, dominance is an illusion of power over the very soul of a being."

Yo'tek knew he had come here for the wrong reasons, now being shamed under the very spirit of rishii itself. Humiliating, swallowing deep he spoke again "I will learn to understand" For the first time since they had begun speaking, the spirit moved, lowering its head to meet his gaze eye to celestial eye. "You will go with my blessing" She spoke, then the rushing of wind overtook him, pushing yo'tek to his feet as what felt like a maelstrom had whipped up out of thin air, he folded his wings in and staggered against the winds. As quickly as the winds rose, they fell again leaving him in the plain alone. silence fell over the jungle.

Nothingness

The skies hung still.

Then, a single bloom of sound and light. A starship descending here of all places. Yo'tek rolled his shoulders back. The journey has begun.

Rishi. It was not often Vytal Noctura of the Solanaceae had need to venture out to this region of the Confederacy, at least not as more than a hop along far further destinations. Today, however, was different. Today they had come to this star system in search of that which Witches always sought -- knowledge, understanding, and to find new lifeforms.

There were many catalogues of plants and creatures that they used, of course. That did not mean collecting a few samples was not worth the effort. Sometimes you could come across a new species, or discover a unique property of that which was previously noted as 'unremarkable.' Whatever the outcome, it was always worth visiting even remote and undeveloped worlds. In fact, the less is resembled Coruscant the better. For a Witch was happier surrounded by a thriving eco-system, not drowned in a sea of hovercar noise.

Description of a native species that seemed inclined to maintain its isolation also drew attention. Perhaps they would be so fortunate as to meet a member of this society and establish trade. Knowledge of herbs and medical practices to extend the lives of their people were often welcome and did not carry the risk of providing tools that might lead to a world's self-destruction. At least, not typically. They would still need to weigh the maturity of such a species before making any agreements.

The sleek vessel descended through the atmosphere toward the planet below. The Nightmother had sensed an unusually strong presence at the planet's northern pole, and had diverted the vessel in that direction. There did not seem to be signs of a civilization in that area, nor had scans revealed an abundance of sentient lifeforms. All the same, the strength of an entity in the Force could not be denied.

Carefully they drew ever closer and slowly swept over the area. A lone lifeform seemed present below, which drew the ship to move forth toward an open area where it could land and not pose a risk to them. Once the landing struts had lowered, the vessel eased itself onto the ground and let it settle for a moment before the engines powered down to bring peace back to the land. Only then would it be safe for the ramp to lower and the airlock to cycle open.

A few could be seen in the doorway, though Vytal took the lead in calmly walking down the plank to the planet below. Her green eyes swept over the area to take it in visually even while she opened herself up to the voices of the world.

"Ah yes, the Rishi System," Alister thought as he and his crew were nearing towards the planet. "Those native birds would make a fine addition to my spy forces of the Dark Emblem. Perhaps even better... they could even make capable slaves as well." Alister was taking in the sparkling bluish-green planet when one of the grunts informed him of the arrival.

"We've entered the Rishi System Boss," The grunt navigator reported in. "Permission to enter landing procedures?"

Alister turned around. "Land near one of the settlements towards the northern pole. I want you all to scout for any resources available on this planet and pile them up on the cargo ships. Is that understood?"

"YES BOSS!!" The grunts in the ship shouted in unison. The Dark Emblem ships entered the atmosphere and landed near the north pole. The grunts as well as one of the Executive Council Members made their way over to the surrounding areas and settlements searching for resources and lifeforms to haul away. Meanwhile, Alister felt a strong disturbance in the Force towards the opposite end of the settlements. He got out of his ship with his weapons equipped and ready. Alister walked out for a while when he saw a lone figure up ahead of him. He moved closer trying not to attract attention when he noticed that it was a witch more specifically a dangerous Nightmother named Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura .

"Well if it isn't Mother Noctura," Alister called out as he approached her. "Now what brings you here on this remote planet?"

The heavens have given unto the world all at once, the avian came to his feet as twin ships breached atmosphere and came to dust upon the glades. A feeling stroked at Yo'teks mind, something he had not felt before. A memory... A vision? Perhaps even a premonition of someone like him yet so much more awake, then another striding forth. Both flanked by warbands of very skilled warriors, something about this felt right, as if destiny was flexing her muscles. The avian bowed his head and gave thanks to Rishi for her patience and guidance, clutching his staff a little tighter he stands in an open postured stance, welcoming, inviting, and of course, showing off his vibrant colors. Traditional postures like this were among the Rishi peoples courting stances as it gave a sense of opulence and imperialism.

Then as the figures drew closer he felt a darkness, a power beyond simple traditions, and training one of rage and fear and feeling... the Maungur themselves were of the same spiritual cloth. Without knowing a single word in galactic common he understood these people would respect power, once sure that he was seen Yo'tek gave a firm measured flourish of his staff, his will flowing through it as it crackled and burst with green light and sonic bursting noise. with his last motion, planting the staff behind him in a rudder guard and extending a bow. Extending his creates he slowly rose again to his full height unfurling the trophy of the jungle Wampas' pelt, horns still adorning its lifeless mighty flesh. Summoning his voice from within he recalled the notes of the battle, calling out the beasts mighty roar, then its whimpering defeat.

With his dance complete Yo'tek held his stance calm, collected, determined. the pelt extended and hanging heavy even as it is beaten by the wind flying like a savage banner from his form. A savage display, yet one his people would consider being quite the tale of conquest. He prayed that they understood as he eyed their stunning and alien vessel, it was different than any he had seen before sleek and beautiful a curvature that would slice through the air, not bludgeon it aside like the heavy lifters the lowlanders use to haul cargo. Then his eyes focused on his audience Two champions from similar yet different walks of life. He could feel it in their winds.

The first was one that made his feathers bristle, the winds of rishii hummed about her. Swirling at her very fingertips This Mistress of the spirits was far more powerful than he. A true force to be reckoned with, she was to rishii what a maungur is to a village. Blessed devastation. Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura was truly a sign from Rishii if he had ever seen one.

The other a Mastermind in a different regard, the winds hung and grew sweet about his lips. This one was a cunning one, the way he moved was with purpose masked by a facade of fanciful delights. Yo'tek had not seen this expression of power before, it fascinated him how he felt this one able to almost whisper a hurricane yet scream a breeze. Alister Salazar Alister Salazar was someone Yo'tek struggled to comprehend.

These visions were clearer here... perhaps rishii had granted him a boon or maybe it was fate that he would be able to peer into those akin to himself here. Either way, he had made his stance and given his play, with a hunger in his eyes Yo'tek waited.

Vytal stopped amid the glades as two figures made themselves known. One obviously from the stars; while another seemed a resident of this world. Alister held her attention for a moment as the man seemed to know her name. Oddly enough that was a rare thing. Made a Nightsister feel like she hadn't tormented enough people with wild magicks. On the other hand, tormenting people wasn't the purpose of the Nightsister Clans or the Solanaceae; still, it was always nice to be acknowledged. However, she could not be certain to say the same of The Dark Emblem Syndicate's leader. Not that he was beneath notice, but his base of operations was at a fair distance from her own.

That, however, was short lived as the Rishii Lovecraftfluff Lovecraftfluff soon gave a flourish of itself, its staff, and of his trophies. The pale woman stood in watch of the avian creature's wordless story. Women of the Wilds of Dathomir could appreciate a good story told in more than words. They occupied their time between tasks and hunting with something, did they not? Why not tell tales and re-enact battles both great and personal? The Rishii's use of light and sound, however, was a bit unexpected when it came from his staff. That could hold a Witch's rapt attention for certain.

Both hands slowly swept into motion as Vytal brought forth the mist of the Nether, a billowy cloud that glowed with energy from Beyond. As the rings of her eyes shone with energy, the mist spread out between them. Soon it gave shape to the landscape of Rishi itself from the sky, and over the treetops and the mountain was a lone avian form. At first the land moved gradually beneath this figure aloft in the skies, but the speed soon quickened. Faster and faster until it was naught but a blur. And within only two seconds it slowed until the local area as seen from Yo'tek's perspective on his approach would become recognizable.

Vytal's hands stopped and began to moved in the opposite circular motions. The image began to play out in reverse until the beginning scene appeared. Only, it continued to go back even further. Back to a point when the avian creature descended to a village and was no longer seen. A large, thriving community that soon took up the space between them. They passed between homes and storefronts as Rishii, much like Yo'tek but of faces he'd never seen before, went about their lives. There was plentiful food, abundant water that sprang from a fountain, and even children that darted about heedless of any cries for them to behave.

A tale of a people of a far away land that had traveled a mighty distance to stand where they stood now. Not unlike Yo'tek himself.

"I felt a presence here," the Nightmother finally replied to Alister Salazar Alister Salazar . "Not his, and yet..." The Witch studied the youth for a moment. Yes, perhaps it had not been him per se, but Yo'tek was not unremarkable himself; merely temporarily hidden beneath the wing of another.

As the mists faded, Vytal slowly extended one hand out toward the Rishii. A slight bow at the waist greeted him wordlessly once more.

Alister knew what she ( Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura ) was talking about. He had also felt the disturbance that she had mentioned as well. What surprised Alister was the fact that it was not her.

"Ah yes, I have felt it also," Alister stated as he came closer to her. "I landed in this area for the same reason. While the rest of my men are busy gathering the resources for our profits, I have decided to investigate this strange presence. Perhaps we can both profit from this."

Alister also sensed some conflict within her. Something must have happened to Mother Noctura to have her in such a state. Perhaps it was the native birds or something else.

Yo'tek took his steps forward slowly, extending his hand and matching her bow before meeting her hand with his. There seemed to be a common theme among the two figures words "I have felt... A presence" His skills of mimicry coming in handy, perhaps he could match their intentions, he was not sure exactly what it meant yet. However, if they were agreed upon it and said it around him, then it could express a common interest. The powerful chieftain before him was obviously well beyond his years, the visions she had granted of a nest beyond his own perhaps even beyond the stars. they had a strange alien beauty to them like billowing clouds of a storm the magic entranced him, eager to learn he bowed his head.

All the while the spirit of Rishii smiled on, with luck the champion was making its first stumbling steps into beyond, Yo'tek was not the first to leave the nest. But he would be among the greats. Like those that came before him, he was powerful in his ambition, his will to learn would be the greatest gift she could give unto him. However, from here on out, he would be alone, what choices he made and who he would become to represent her will would show exactly how she had done to form a race. To test herself upon the galaxy, Rishii would be one to produce Nobel and mighty life.

But there was doubt... should he fail, should the hatchling succumb to his greed and malice without completion... to be left in limbo and conflict. A fate that would be truly humiliating, having your mightiest fumbling for meaning in the infinite expanse after all this time. Her will was given, she would hope he had understood. To be maungur was to be raw and untameable rage and emotion, power incarnate, and uncontrolled. But the temperance she had hoped to inspire in the Rishii people so often shined through... For the first time in a very long time, the great Rishii herself was unsure of what her hatchling would become. Even as fools from beyond the stars walked her earth tentatively but with consuming greed she could not care. Destiny awaits her chosen, and she was exhilarated.

Vytal regarded Alister for a moment after he'd spoken. "Perhaps. In different ways." Gathering resources? At least she did not hear large machinery tearing into the planet or laying mighty timber low. Such things might require they no longer be friends.

Yo'tek's acceptance of her hand drew a small smile upon her black lips, however. Slowly her other hand lifted to lay atop his, gently enveloping Yo'tek's hand between both of hers. "Words are a fledgling means to convey the truth of our existence. Spirits grant us your wisdom, let the truth be known among us," the Nightmother incanted. She appreciated the Rishii's efforts to speak without saying anything, or even in parroting their own words in an effort to convey meaning or engage his visitors from afar -- or the heavens. However, there was no reason that should be the full limit of their means of communication.

The spirits could act as intermediaries between them. They understood all languages, for they spoke none themselves except what lay in the hearts and souls of the Living and the Dead. Theirs was a pure tongue unburdened by the limitations of the many codified throughout the galaxy. The spell, however, would not last long. Long enough for them to speak here with one another though.

With the spell upon them, the Nightmother began again, "I am Chief Vytal Noctura of the Solanceae. I am honored to meet you in this sacred place."

Yo'tek desperately tried to make sense of the flurry of sensations that surrounded him, the ability to simply communicate with some ethereal power translating thoughts and feelings into understandable logical words. Contexts and nuances of language, dialects, and slang simply drifting away as he reached forward, brave but foolish as he extended his projecting mind into this bond that was created. Every word thundered around his head as he tried to stop the spinning feelings of weightlessness in this immersion into what felt like limitless power. "I... am yo'tek. Champion of Rishii..." Stammering and frailty to his voice while this power dwarfed him.

His force sensitivity flaring as chaotically as it would fizzle out, his presence flashing from a dim spark to a roaring blaze in the swirling of Dathomiri magic unstable and as much a danger to himself as he was to anyone else. Explosions of energy straining his mind as he tries to assert himself. "I am Yo'tek. This is the holy site of the maungur polar north, I have come here seeking my destiny to..." He stopped. Why was he here? The goddess had given him all these gifts and rights to power and yet not a single clue other than to venture forth. A darkness came to his mind, there must have been a reason he was here otherwise there's nothing he could do. "I am here to become Rishii's finest." His presence took a darker tone, from this frail light to a blocky, jagged form. A Strength born from determination and frustration. The dark side surging just to ebb alongside the light again and again. This one was not simply a given user of light or dark, his turmoil burned in him like a hurricane, brilliant and terrifying but ultimately impotent to one so very versed in the force such as the great Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura .

He stands before her for just a moment before he forms a focus, the winds within and without him calming for a moment. "I am to learn under those from beyond the skies and become more than meat flesh and feather. I submit myself to your wisdom high chieftain." His grip about the force relaxing again, this display clearly unintentional, a being somehow being able to wild these powers completely ignorant of what they even are, does he even know he is using the force? Unclear. Certainly, if refined its strength can be one of legend, but if left to his own devices its likely he would tear himself apart in some terrible maelstrom of unknowable force held just behind his fingertips. His focus drifts again...

The birds mind drifts that jagged bulwark of dark crumbling as he focuses on the businessman Alister Salazar Alister Salazar his coordination and presence an oddity, he was not here for the holy site but... what could he be here for. Something troubled him, his mental faculties starting to fail him with such intense exertion of his force. sweat beading across his forehead as he was forced to all but give up his outreach. left wondering of his purpose but wordless and without action.

Yo'tek, Champion of Rishii. From the way his power waxed and waned, the Witch could tell despite his standing on this world there was still much to teach the young male. Abandoned here he would likely become a great warrior, or a monster of legend. It would be reckless to leave his fate to chance, and they had only just met. The Nightmother was in no hurry this day. Now was suitable to meeting potential students; or prospective students of one of the other Academies, if Yo'tek wished it.

The pale woman's brow lifted slightly at the male's proclamation of greatness. Ambitious. Though not undesirable so long as it did not swell into arrogance and egotism. Light and Dark rose and fell over time just as the Rishii's power as a whole varied considerably. He'd not yet chosen a Path yet. Vytal would desire to learn more of him and his kind before proposing one for him, however.

"And you shall," the Nightmother replied. "Do you need to inform your clan? Much will be needed of you to learn to harness your power. Time. Endurance. Focus. You will return stronger than you left." How long did his people expect him to be away, Vytal did not yet know. Perhaps they'd already accepted he would not return. Or they might take his failure to return as a bad omen. There was a great deal left to learn of his culture.

She extended a hand out toward Yo'tek. "There is much to learn. Of power. Of yourself. Of the world." How Alister would take events that unfolded before him, she could not be certain. How the Rishii would take the actions of the man's crew, however... Though she herself was concerned given the nature of this place. It would do no good to tempt the wrath of a planet's gods (or great spirits).

"My tribe will be enlightened by Rishii. It is up to me to be worthy enough to return. I will not lie I am terrified of what lies beyond, but it is my duty to face the roar of the open skies and navigate the eternal storm." He bowed his head, doubt eating at his mind like a parasite as he willed himself onwards. Strength was what he knew, determination would get him through despite his flaws.

Already over eager to begin he hopped from talon to talon, snap turning his head with a chirp before steeling himself into a more befitting stoic demeanor. How unbecoming of a future kit fists to be at play before your master, thankfully these hues hide his blush. "What would you ask of me great one? I am yours to direct. The rishii people have little to give save for our courage. But I assure you it will be unlike my you have born witness to before!"

The back of his mind whispered prayer of thanks after prayer of thanks to rishii for her thousand blessings. Flexing every inch of avian muscle as he readied himself for his first task. Enthusiasm incarnate this one, but time would tell if he really was all squawk.

Vytal was impressed. Obviously the people of Rishi were a deeply spiritual people that communed with the Great Spirit of their world. It did not surprise her to learn that Yo'tek would return to his own once he'd proven himself. It was similar to a young Nightsister enduring their trial to adulthood. Different culture, different rite, but same concept. "Do not be ashamed of your fear. Push through it and the knowledge and wisdom of the Ages will be yours. The Solanaceae will aid you in this." It was quite literally what they did.

A little demonstration of excitement only helped remind Vytal of the Rishii's youth, however. He had potential. Ambition. Purpose. But there was much ahead for him to learn -- and not all of it glamorous. And much would be far from easy.

"Courage, and a willingness to learn. That is all that is required," the Nightmother acknowledged. There was no need for 'payment.' The Witches were financed in part by the Confederacy, and by their own creations. There were many medicines and substances they could make of some of the more exotic plants and other life collected from the many worlds they visited. To say nothing of offering to store objects or tomes for safe keeping for others. Humble means of acquiring what was necessary to run around the galaxy.

With a look over at Alistair, Vytal looked back at Yo'tek with a small smile. "Come. We can evaluate your strength aboard my ship, and begin your instruction. There is much to learn, and much to see." The departure from his world alone should occupy his heart and mind. With that said, the Nightmother would turn to lead Yo'tek back to her own craft to depart unless Alistair desired to delay their departure.

The Rishii bowed his head, lowering before her words as he did his best to take it on board. Beneath it his mind surged, the first embarrassment of many no doubt, curse this idiot form for all it is worth how was he not better? No matter, the master would break him in anew like no chieftain before. This Solanaceae she spoke of was obviously something beyond his years, a group? A tribe? A faith even? He would find out. Courage and willingness abound he had, the fire that burned was enough to blaze a trail through any test he was set. Or at least that is what he convinced himself of.

Yo'tek steeled himself, gripping his staff tighter as it gave off a gentle green glow, following the night mother aboard and marveling at the fantastical vessel that carried her. This incredible ship was almost beyond him completely, he had seen starships before but never one so up close let alone from within. even the spacers that joined the night mothers' crew were fascinating their armor and weaponry. running a talon across the wall and feeling the essence of something so wonderous.

"This... is your home?" He somehow hadn't even made it to the door before asking questions, yet he would follow in her footsteps. Every second a new question. infatuated by the divine wonder of such impossible possibilities before him. "How old is this ship? Did you build it yourself? How many does it take to make it fly? Does it hunger?" A sense of childlike wonder dawned over him like a tsunami. clutching his staff tight as his head crest extended as his fascination grew. his feathers often fluttering past the crewmen getting irritating to many, others probably saw them worth a pretty penny.

Vytal smiled slightly as she strode up the ramp into the ship. Perhaps conflict did solicit character development, but there was time enough for conflict. Moments like these reminded the Nightsister of when she first left Dathomir. The galaxy had been so foreign -- so strange. Little had made sense, and many had sought to take advantage of that. Of course, when you had five Sisters to back you up there was little that could not be handled. Still, they had been trying times. Moments when they nearly lost themselves. When they nearly lost one another. An endless struggle to survive that distracted them from why they'd come to the stars -- to learn. And they did not need to learn how to be better criminals just to survive.

Yo'tek would not need to worry about such distractions under her wing. He would need to worry about being devoured by Ancient monsters, but then that was simply part of who they were. Not that he would have to brave the Nether realm; there were many areas of study.

"Home? No. This is... how you fly through space." No matter how easy it might appearance, Vytal was consciously trying to explain things using terms the Rishii would understand. "Our largest home is on Ryloth. A different world. There are smaller homes on other planets -- it is a very large place, as you will discover for yourself. Easy to become lost, but full of wonders worth the risk." One could stay home and study magick in relative safety, but they would never be exposed to completely new ways of looking at or utilizing it. Witches did not need uniformity.

Light laughter followed the string of questions. "I'm not sure how old it is, but I did not build it." Vytal spoke as she led the way toward the cockpit, "There are many people, and many skills to learn. If you wish to become a true master of them, you must choose which to devote yourself to study. Thousands of hours of practice brings experience, skill, and power in all things." She, herself, dabbled in technology, as it may protect her kind from assault by such; yet Vytal was far from John Locke's level of understanding.

"It does 'hunger.' For many kinds of rock and what rock holds. Great machines purify the rocks into fuel. Perhaps, some day, I will show you -- but such places are loud, smelly, and rarely pretty." The magick of offworlders -- Science -- was formidable, but far from beautiful before the end product was made. Wholly unlike the mystical Arts. "And this ship can be flown by one, but two is recommended." It could be flown by one in an emergency. "There are... spirits of energy -- sunlight? -- that power it, and allows this ship to sail beyond the skies." Electricity was not actually a spirit, Vytal learned this long ago, but it was an easy way to think of it at first. Currents of magickal energy.

The Nightmother waved Yo'tek into the doorway of the cockpit. "This is where it is flown. Sit," she gestured to one of the seats toward the back. "You will enjoy the view best from here." Though, the Witch wondered how long the Rishii would manage to stay in his seat once they'd taken off, slid through the cloud, drifted into the void, and then gently swung about to see Yo'tek's world from above as they continued to drift further out.

With every other step, the rishii would be lagging behind, his "hands" gliding over the metal of the ship, overall the different materials and shapes it made. being shooed away from anything vaguely important to do with ship functions, not fully understanding he vowed to avoid blinking lights to avoid the ire of the crew, as a result he grew cautious of the illuminated sections of floor, carefully hopping over them in case someone was to hiss and chase him away for touching. But every word she said he hung off of, answers and knowledge abound and all made so clear he felt as though he could be right at home here.

Even larger homes, however, were a prospect he was only familiar with the stories of the groundlings, how they would shape the very world after their image be it cold hard steel or winding whirls of nature. These thoughts were beyond him, everything was so incredible here that it was hard to picture on a grander scale. Before he caught himself up in what-ifs he heard the word study, grimacing a little behind his beak he imagined himself drowned in books again. He hated studying, physicality and fun teachings were how he liked to learn, maybe with picture tablets and carvings, or even stories told at a stretch but. Outworlders brought him long scrolls and these dull folds of paper in leathers. UGH.

Yo'tek managed to almost hopscotch his way onto the bridge before he was surrounded by flashy buttons and lights, an audible gulp was heard as he tried to shimmy into the seat he was told to, leaning his limbs back from the consoles as if they would bite him. "There are so many... Things..." Was probably the best way he could describe the bizarre room before him, clearly a ritual room but one so tight fitted only an apothecary, was there such a thing as a button master? What would that even be called? Keeper of the blinky lights? What a dumb idea. Then... it happened...

Whisked into the skies his wings desperately wanting to flap out to stabilise but... there was no air rushing by. No thinning of the air. The tug of the planet he felt for certain against such speeds but it was just like home up here. this was impossible! then the skies turned to night, maybe those old texts about the sky beyond had something neat to say, after all, this was beyond anything he had expected to see already. Then as that little ball of green came into view he froze. was that home already so far away? He looked at his seat and then all the buttons, managing to perform a squat in his seat to lean forward and stay a safe distance from any switches.

"Is this... it is... there!" he pointed to some seemingly random spot of mountains "That's home. Even up here i recognize it... the mountains never change from up here." He scanned the planet over, his head twisting and rotating as he took in all the incredible sights. then he realized it was shrinking, they could fly backward just as fast? Was it true that there was no wind in the black skies? All of this was moving so fast he didn't even have a chance to put together his thoughts. Yes, this fits with the stories of space and the void beyond it which means that outside is... nothing. but somehow everything? Don't touch the nothing, he knew that one. these blinky lights must be somehow being used to control the ship as the night mother said, hence why no touchy.

Plain to anyone to see was the focus and strain and pure wonder splayed over this birds' entire face, he was looking all around trying to make sense and match up the fragments of knowledge he had to their real-life counterparts. Then why have them on the floor in the hallway? Perhaps they were lights instead of torches? Right! and they worked off the solar energy just like the ship did. Plants did the same thing, taking in the sun and turning it into energy. Since the ships not... alive in a sense then it could be used elsewhere! This appreciable effort and conjoining of basic spacer dots was for him a monument of effort. Almost entirely forgetting what this was for a while.

"Forgive me..." He spent a while mulling over a title then found none to refer to her by. "I am unsure of how to address you, but your... ship you called it. It is like more than the stories I have ever read. It is huge and impossible like the venators that came before even the oldest living of my tribe." he took a moment to steady himself but it was impossible to hide that eager smile from his beak "Thank you for this chance wise one."

Vytal didn't say anything while Yo'tek took in the sight of their lift off, ascent, and eventual departure from his world. There was no need to distract him from what was playing out before his very eyes. Nor any real concern he might hit a button that'd jeopardize the ship. It was a moment, and far be it from her to spoil it.

Eventually the Rishii found the ability to form complete sentences again. It was then that the pale woman chose to re-engage him after witnessing the majesty reflected in his radiant countenance. "Nightmother is my title. Vytal Noctura is my name," she replied after Yo'tek confessed to not knowing how to address her. Was it late for introductions? Perhaps, but the title and her name would be quite foreign even with the spirits translating, and so she'd chosen not to trouble the young one's mind with them at first.

"You are most welcome. And this is only the beginning, Yo'tek. The galaxy holds many worlds like and unlike your own; with many species similar in spirit, but different in appearance. There is as much to see as there is to learn. My payment will be that you learn it -- in due time -- and that you share your thoughts, your feelings, and your revelations with the other Sisters and Brothers. There's more out there than any one of us could hope to see alone." One need not know everything, but to live was to learn. Small things. Great things. It mattered not, for Life was made of change, and what better way to foster it than by constantly moving forward and expanding one's horizons?

"Now," the Nightmother smiled for a moment, "where shall we begin?" Her green eyes shone in the cockpit. There was no overwhelming need to launch into a spiritual lesson here and now. She would entertain Yo'tek's personal interests, see where his heart took him, and from there understand how to provide him a Path that would speak to his heart.

"Nightmother. Praise be. I will ensure my mind is shared as much as it consumes, the best of my ability is yours." He nodded along, ready to agree to almost anything from this person who has given him so many things. His naive nature shining through such treasures beholden unto him, he leaned forward and pondered upon her words. An entire galaxy of life? Skies beyond skies beyond skies to be certain... such terrifying openness and expansive wilds, beautiful and roaring more than he had ever seen.

Then her question fell upon him, all these options of the great expanse would just be answered for him? Of all the things he could learn he would have his choice, what could he even ask for? Were there limits to this power she offered? Consequences? Perhaps something to be worried about, he should keep it to something he does know and wonder of. "I want to learn to speak to anyone... as you did. Rishii adore learning the languages of others and how their words form and flow but... perhaps it would be easier and more prudent to learn what I am here to study rather than just reveling in the poetry of your native tongues." He was still determined to learn of the Dathomir language but there must be countless thousands in this galaxy, he would need to know a way to commune easily.

He sat himself back down still reveling at the sights beyond the window. Was it really just a thin sheet of glass separating them from annihilation? The thought worried him but he couldn't help but think, it must take immense effort to even haul us to space but even more to get us up here. The possibilities are boundless no doubt, would it be possible to do even more? Curious, but questions for another time. Yo'tek would throw himself into his studies, devoting himself to this craft as if it were a blood pact. His bones would crack before he would dare to humble himself, the efforts of his studies and placing into practicality were admirable but certainly taxing on his body and mind.

The Nightmother smiled. "The spirits can reveal much, but we will teach you the shared language of many creatures known as 'Basic.' If it is within your power, it is wise to use your own abilities before relying upon the spirits. They can be wise and generous, but some are equally as mischievous or dangerous. Until you have had more time to form pacts with trustworthy spirits, the language of the Living will serve you well."

The Solanaceae believed power could come from the spirits rather than be manifested through the individually, and as a result they could wield great power. However, it was not without stipulation or cost. Abusing this power or taking it for granted could bring great misfortune on a Witch. Vytal always made sure young witches were taught this for their own sake. To make it a habit not to conjure powers for convenience, but of necessity. Less might be called upon them by the spirits in turn for this power.

What she did not say in detail, nor wished to so early in Yo'tek's experience, was that relying on the spirits left one open to spiritual battle. An opposing Witch could turn the power against you if you were not experienced enough to avoid such a fate, or a dark spirit might masquerade as a friend only to change a crucial word in the translation. It was best to learn Basic. The more skills Yo'tek possessed, the better prepared he would be to travel among the stars.

For a short while, Vytal watched Yo'tek gaze out the window. They would return to the castle shortly, wherein Vytal would introduce Yo'tek to the rest of his Sisters and Brothers. They could arrange a room for him, and schedule him to attend classes. There was much potential in one so young and open to new ideas. The Nightmother had great expectations for him so long as he walked his Path faithfully.
