Intent: A personal sensor unit for the players of the board to use
Development Thread: If needed
Manufacturer: Justice Munitions
Model: Pers-Scann Mk 2
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: Moderate: aesthetics maybe changed for the user’s character
Production: Production: Mass-produced
Material: Durasteel, computer parts, scanner parts.
Description:
Strengths:
++Shock box: The scanners of this item are generally protected from the elements and damage via their shock-dampening durasteel case. This, however, is not unbreakable, Its durasteel not beskar.
++An add on: While this is not armor, the Pers-Scann Mk 2 can be added to armor as a sensor package, or to replace and upgrade its sensor package.
Weaknesses:
--Parts sold separately: This bit of gear is not to stand alone. It requires a display unit to show its data, such as a Mk 3 Shooter visor (shameless plug), a datapad, or a ship’s computer terminal to view the info from.
--Damage transfer: though some magical property that the designers could not pin-point, the shock box refuses to absorb damage. This is mainly so that some writer will not get the hair-brained idea to try and use this as some sort of shield or something weird like that.
--A personal scanner: This object’s scanners are not as sensitive as those of larger, more advanced suits like those which arm capital ships. It’s a personal scanner, meaning its by far better than nothing, but not perfect by any means.
--User discretion: While this is pretty strong, as stated above it’s not perfect. The amount of data that this unit can flood you with alone can be a weakness as well, discretion is advised.
--Shut down: to keep the battery from overheating and spontaneously combusting, a fail-safe was added. If the Pers-Scann Mk 2 is being overused then it will shut down to avoid melting for the next hour.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
-Battery life lasts up to 7 days, 24 hours if constant heavy use is involved. Batteries may be changed out.
-Life-form scanners
-360* terraform scanners (scans the basic geographical area, up to 100 ft radius. The further the radius, the harder the battery life expended, the shorter the batter lasts, the larger the chance of overheating)
-Infared scanners
-Ultraviolet scanners
-Ultrasound scanners
-Thermal scanners
-Metal detector scanner (effective up to 10 ft radius, may not run at the same time as the terraform scanner)
-SONAR system
-Humidity detector
-Barometer
-Weapons detectors
-Vector scanner (detects direction on a 360x360 scale and magnitude)
-Audio recorder
-Particulate scanner (identifies over 700 various organic and non-organic molecules within the air, accurate up to 100 ppm [common hospital air filtration systems in modern day earth are clean up to this point])
-Planetary GPS system to determine geographical location.

James Justice wanted an upsale to his new Mk 3 Shooter glasses. And he also wanted a way to use the HUD of these glasses without having to use the same old helmet thing. As a result, he commissioned the making of the Pers-Scann. The first model that was made did not succeed; the power cells spontaneously combusted, and that was not exactly the best for business. The second model became marketable after a series of heating fail-safes and redundant cooling systems were added. Several field studies prove this model to be the most successful and able to survive the regular impacts and wear and tear of everyday life, as well as several combat scenarios. However, as it is obvious, a direct shot from a blaster rifle could easily fry this little puppy. Several would disintegrate it. The Pers-Scann Mk 2 is strong enough to withstand a fall, a glancing blow from a blade, most glancing punches, or being tossed across the floor, however, it is not unbreakable.
