Character Penny Rasalas

Eg7MjGT.jpg

Name: Penelope “Penny” Rasalas

Rank: Aspirant

Species: Human

Age: Mid 20’s

Sex: Female

Height: 165 cm

Weight: 61 kg

Eyes: Blue

Hair: Dark brown

Skin: Fair to light tan

Force sensitive: Yes

Strengths & Weaknesses:

+ Lightsaber combat Form IV: Ataru: link
+ Mind Over Matter:
exceptionally skilled in blocking telepathic invasion of any kind. With focus, Penny can lock her mind in its own beskar fortress--metaphorically, of course. Skills like Force Fear, Drain Knowledge, etc. may gain leverage only when wielded by those with expertise. She also possesses a high tolerance for pain, and can endure much before letting it show.
+ Now You See Me... Now You Don't: talents of the roguish and stealthy variety have been honed over the years. She is good at going unnoticed, moving quietly, and she is agile. She uses the Force to enhance this skills.
+ Shatterpoint: this innate skill is one she has been practicing and toying with since she was young. To do the most widespread, or most precise damage, it often requires her to lose focus of everything else in her environment, for a variable amount of time.
~ Psychometry: this innate skill is one Penny is secretly wary of, mostly because of her lack of control over information she has unwittingly uncovered in the past. The revelation certain objects have granted her upon touching them, which often came abruptly and uncomfortably, led her to try to block the events from occurring at all, rather than working to master its potential benefits. It continues to catch her off guard, at times.
- Lightsaber combat Form VII: Juyo: link
- Berserker:
when unchecked, Penny can fall victim to her own persistence. At times, she will be so riled up in the heat of battle, she will ignore or overlook critical or potentially fatal injuries, and continue to fight, instead of retreating to heal. When lost in this chaotic mindset, she will not stop until she physically collapses, and then may only rise with direct assistance.
- Curato salva: though she possesses the ability to heal her own injuries, she is not as quick or efficient as perhaps those in the Jedi order. It takes her longer than average to fully recover, mostly due to lack of discipline and distractions.

Personality Traits:

+Resilient +Intrepid +Tenacious +Self-sacrificing
~ Mischievous
- Vindictive - Cynical - Disingenuous - Adrenaline junkie

Appearance: Penny sticks with functional, comfortable clothing of neutral and dark tones in public. Never one to stand out by appearance alone, as she prefers an unassuming presence. Usually she is found in some variation of cloth pants and shirt with leather boots, though she has a variety of garments stowed away in her ship. There is always a tactical belt with small pouches where she stows her light saber and a blaster pistol. Skin tone changes a little with UV exposure, and can be fair to light tan. Her hair is dark brown that gradually fades to gold at the ends when she lets it grow out, and is either wrangled into a messy up-do with stray strands framing her face, or left to hang free. She takes after her mother mostly. The only physical traits she inherited from her father were the ability to hold a tan, and darker hair.

Biography: Penny was born and raised on a planet in the Outer Rim called Azar-Anil by the natives, within a solar system rich in natural resources, particularly gold and other precious ores. The planet was dominated by rolling arid plains with high winds and mountains, with smaller forested areas congregated near rivers and lakes. Occasionally, massive storm systems would sweep through, with lightning strikes that preceded the torrential rains, and ignited the dry foliage to churn up sprawling firestorms until the downpour caught up to them. Cities were mostly clustered around mountain bases and rivers, as the plains were too inhospitable.

Her mother was a Jedi Master of the Silver Jedi, and was the driving force in neutralizing corruption and bringing peace and stability to the dominant planet of the solar system. Her father was a force sensitive native who was a contrast to her mother in many ways, but their differences were complimentary. They lived a happy, yet busy life full of mediations and general government of the planet’s factions and peoples.

Because her father was from a noble family, many native to the land regarded her as their princess. Behind the scenes, her mother liked to gently encourage her not to embrace the title. It was a source of friction between her parents, but Penny was indifferent. She never cared for titles. She never embodied royalty, and never considered herself a Jedi. But she did use the force from an early age, and she trained rigorously. It was something that made both of her parents proud, though at times, her mother expressed concern with her tactics.

What physical similarities she lacked with her father, she made up for in personality. Like him, Penny was always a little more aggressive and headstrong, though perhaps not overtly. She is sharp, goal-driven, persistent, and at times mischievous, without being malevolent. From her mother, she inherited patience and self-control. The combination helped shape her into someone who can be viciously driven, yet tempered and analytical enough to play the long con if needed.

Despite her mother’s position in the Silver Jedi, Penny was never more than acquainted with the faction. The reason for this was because while her mother was stationed on Azar-Anil, the Jedis' influence waned in the Outer Rim after ongoing battles with Sith and Imperial forces severed their reach. The loss of support made room for ambitious and resentful barons to stage a coup. Through years of planning, and a strategic and well-compensated plant, their efforts lead to the death of her parents and overthrow of their peaceful government, with Penny’s own fiancée as the catalyst. It was not a quick or easy battle, and much of the city experienced structural damage and needless casualties, but they succeeded. Penny’s single-minded mission of fight to the death failed as she was literally dragged to safety by her loyal friend and industrious co-pilot after getting knocked unconscious. They escaped the planet with the bare essentials in a ship that has since been shot down, and traded in for a much less glamorous and trustworthy vessel that has proven to be stubbornly resilient, despite its unpredictable issues.

Penny now lives the life of a scavenging, mercenary vagabond, though she is not without purpose. After hearing of her traitorous fiancée’s departure from Azar-Anil, her goal is to track him down and kill him. She also dreams of one day returning to the solar system, wiping out the barons responsible for the massacre, and restoring peace and prosperity, though it would take a literal army that she doesn’t currently possess. In the meantime, she is adapting to the volatile, inhospitable Wild Space that makes the roaring plains of her home planet look like a soft sputtering candle in an evening breeze.

Ship: Nautical Harpy, frequently called Nauti Harpy, as Penny insists the gravity-defying scrap metal is imbued with a restless, albeit weak Sith spirit who thrives on making it malfunction in the most obscure ways, at the worst of times.

Zosma Ndiaye, pronounced (Zose-ma) (En-dee-ya-ee), is a friend and co-pilot. She is native to Azar-Anil, and will dutifully follow Penny into whatever Hellish adventure she dives into. She is not force sensitive, but rather specializes in ship maintenance, which is how they met in the first place, as Penny loves to fly. Zosma lost both of her legs at a young age, and has modified prosthetics in their place, which have enabled her to run faster and jump higher, among other things. She enjoys tinkering with weapons and gadgets in her spare time as well. Her most notable strengths are her loyalty, creativity, and resourcefulness. Her notable weaknesses are co-dependence, pride, bias, and a lack of self-identity beyond her skillsets.
