Special Features: Selective fire from semi-auto single round fire to three-round burst fire. Short length to aid in urban warfare scenarios. Modular in the form of add-on accessories. Smart-link scope.
Description: This weapon is a competing standard-issue infantry rifle that is meant for urban warfare, although it can perform its ultimate duty in nearly any environment. It is shorter than most other rifles, allowing soldiers to move around better in cramped quarters and still be able to fight effectively. The selective fire allows it be used as a designated marksman rifle in semi-auto mode or as an effective assault rifle in burst-fire mode. It does not feature a fully automatic mode, however. The power packs are specialised for the rifle, which means it cannot use the powerpacks that are (seemingly) virtually universal for other guns of its class, but it has the advantage of a proprietary magazine designed for the gun's capabilities and design specifically. It is designed to be low-maintenance and to be able to survive harsh conditions and still be useful. The power of each shot is meant to noticeably outperform its competitors, although this consumes more ammunition in so doing. the price tag on each gun is slightly greater than competing firearms, but some soldiers may prefer it to other weapons. It may also be more useful to ship-borne Marines or special operations forces. This weapon can be smart-linked to a soldier's helmet or other compatible tactical visor system to aid with sighting and ammo-use tracking apart from other tactical and optic capabilities helmets/visors tend to perform. A commander can use the same ammo-tracking, which includes date and time of each fired shot, for corroboration of firefights for debriefing or inquiry purposes and to potentially track unauthorised weapon use.
Optional Add-ons:
Laser sight
Grenade launcher: Plasma grenades, fragmentation grenades, Flashbang
IR/ACOG scope (for night vision, sans other means of mitigating nightblindness)
Advantages:
Shorter length allows for better manoeuverability in cramped environments.
Each shot has slightly better impact than competing firearms.
Low maintenance and robust construction.
Weaknesses:
This weapon has its own ammo pack designs that use equivalent amounts of power and gas in a dual magazine scheme. They are generally incompatible with more standardised ammunition packs in other weapons.
The gun uses more power and gas ammo and thus power packs don't stretch out as far as other rifles of its class.
it is slightly more expensive than other guns of its class.
Cannot be fired full-auto.
