Description: The venerable revolver is resurrected in modern blaster form with the Type 12. In the grip is a replaceable, but long-lived power cell that feeds power to the rest of the weapon, enabling the cycling system, Ammo indicator, and laser sight. The gas ammunition itself comes in pre-measured crystal-capped canisters that focus the gun's particle beam into an internal reservoir containing enough blaster gas to amplify the beam into a powerful enough bolt to punch a hole in medium plasteel armour, such as the inexpensive, mass-produced type Imperial Stormtroopers wore. The power of the bolt makes it technically a heavy blaster by common power standards for a sidearm, but Paragon Enterprises markets the Type 12 on the open market for both military and civilian consumers, leaving up to local law on the end-user's side to determine the weapon's legality for civilian use. Unlike other blaster ammunition cartridges, each canister in this revolver is expended after a single shot, reminiscent of ancient slugthrower revolvers. The ammunition capacity is therefore much more limited per reload in exchange for higher power output. The canisters, however, can be recycled and Paragon runs an incentive for doing so via paying out a small sum for a clip of 10, which overall helps reduce costs of ammo production.
The ammunition canisters are capped with synthetic blue-coloured prismatic crystal lenses, filled with a generous amount of volatile blaster gas. These cartridges are packaged in a round cluster of ten with a harness designed for easy and quick loading into the cylinder. The power of each shot is enough to produce a noticeable amount of recoil. The bolts are a red-violet colour and the report sounds like a DL-44, albeit louder by comparison. The Ammunition indicator will flash with a bank of 10 red lights when ammunition is empty. When full, the lights will be steadily glowing green. After each shot, one light from the barrel's end will turn red, glowing steadily, until it reaches the end closest to the grip and gives the empty signal. Two steady red lights will indicate no magazine is loaded if the weapon is activated without ammo. The laser sight is mounted under the barrel, shining in bright green to help compensate for the recoil's potentially negative effects on accuracy. Risk of overheating stands out as well, despite standard cooling systems.
The Type 12 costs a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 700 Hapan Aureii (about 1400 Republic credits).
