Intent: A scary ground attack missile for strike raids and bombing runs
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Paragon Eterprises
Model: GAM-120 "Shockhammer"
Affiliation: Hapes Consortium
Modularity: no
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Missile components
Classification: Missile
Size: Ship (fighter) mounted
Length: 2 Metres
Weight: 800 Kilograms
Ammunition Type: Collapsium warhead
Ammunition Capacity: 1
Effective Range: Concussion Missile Range, exact range is classified
Rate of Fire: Single use
Special Features: Simple droid brain for guidance system
Strengths:
Accurate without pilot supervision
Makes nice craters
Weaknesses:
Not designed for use effectively against airborne targets.
Description: The GAM-120 "Shockhammer" missile carries a collapsium-based warhead designed to create implosion-blowback explosions (quite similar to the actual reaction that causes a supernova... albeit in this case, on an extremely small scale with ineligible fusion reactions involved). The shockwave produced by the rebounding of the collapsium core's implosion is enough to make a modest crater as well as shock and disturb the ground surrounding it for hundreds of metres. Somewhat less powerful, yield-wise, than a Void-9 Seismic Charge, the damage intended by this weapon is concentrated to regulate collateral damage potential. Equipped a simple droid brain instead of other guidance systems, the missile can single-mindedly vector itself precisely where it had been meant to impact on the ground or against the hull of a large capital ship, but is not sufficient to effectively do the same against smaller, faster craft for which the traditional concussion missile is designed. The GAM-120 is best suited for precision strike raids against ground targets and bombing runs targeting large capital ship hardpoints. The Missile also does not necessarily detonate on impact. There is a brief, 1-second delay before detonation.
