APPEARANCE:
Paddy Quick has a knack for always looking like he's been in a fight. With unruly, unkempt brown hair, five o'clock shadow and the smell of alcohol and cig smoke lingering on his breath, he never looks his best. Couple this with his face, which always makes him look like he could use a couple of hours of sleep (that's an understatement), and Paddy could be described as "haggard."
He typically wears jeans or black spacer leggings, tank tops and leather jackets, and favours boots over normal shoes.
BIOGRAPHY:
Paddy was born on Empress Teta in 818 ABY to Francis and Lonnie Quick, two hard-working, salt of the earth natives of Cinnagar who had family that had lived in the same locality for thousands of years. The Quicks, like many of their neighbours, were of the Chaldian religion in which contraception is forbidden. They consequently bred like rabbits. Paddy was the sixth of ten children, and the fifth of seven sons. Like many families in his district, Paddy's family was unable to feed their numerous brood, so the Quick children had to turn to other means to make ends meet.
The product of a rough upbringing, Paddy showed a knack for petty crime, and the ability to get himself out of any trouble he found himself in. Skipping school and turning to drugs and alcohol, substance abuse in his formative years gave him a very "abstract" view of life. The underbelly of Cinnagar's lower socio-economic areas gave him a disregard for life in all its forms ... together, he became a very intelligent, unpredictable and vicious entity. By his late teens, Paddy was one of the more feared "wasters" in his little corner of Cinnagar, but his unpredictable nature and inability to display loyalty led to his exile by violence from his district. In a surprise move, he joined the Republic military.
Violent, angry and with a perverted sense of humour, Paddy fit in well as an infantry grunt. He displayed physical courage multiple times under fire and was a natural leader. Unfortunately, his lack of discipline led to multiple problems. NJPed multiple times over his six year service, Paddy rose to the rank of Lance Corporal five times and was demoted on no less than four occasions. However, the Tetan was an excellent soldier, and his level of viciousness served the Republic well in their one-sided struggle against the One Sith. His improvised tactics and explosives were morally grey, but chain of command turned a blind eye.
Then came Hok. A Gran colony in Republic space, Hok was thrown into turmoil by a tribal disagreement that turned to genocide. Command dispensed three battalions to interpose themselves between the two tribes, but due to their rules of engagement, the battalions were forced to watch on several occasions as tribal armies hacked refugees to death with fission machetes. This had a profound effect on Quick, who went rogue soon after returning. Taking his blaster and submachine gun from his barracks' armory weapon safe, Quick snuck out and killed two soldiers on firewatch in the process.
Quick is now in parts unknown, doing ... well, we'll find that out shortly.
