The Graywall was a far less standard locale for a tournament than any of the others, but then that was why Cedric had picked it. His involvement with the rest of the galaxy's Jedi was tangential at best, but even he was eager to cross bridges in order to assist in the training of the next generation. Thus, Cedric had volunteered to moderate one of the matches, and designated his ancestral home as the place of contest.
Crowds from the nearby towns had come to stand upon the battlements in anticipation of the battle to come. Whilst many worked alongside the Jedi of Ruusan, few had actually had the opportunity to see a Jedi's 'magic' in person. Cedric stood with them, clad in the simple dark robes of his homeworld. His arms folded about his chest as he spoke, his voice carrying farther than any mortal's had any right to courtesy of the empyrean.
"Padawan Talor, Padawan Vattas, welcome to the Graywall!" He thrust his arms out wide, and the crowd roared at the motion. "A Jedi Knight must always be ready to perform under the scrutiny of the people. I hope you'll give these good folks a show."
The 'arena' was a stretch of a few dozen meters separated by an open portcullis. It was meant to imitate combat in a choke-point, though in a one on one conflict that would have little true effect. Even still, Cedric appreciated the novelty.
"Fight well, but remember that we are Jedi. We only fight until our opponent surrenders. Control yourselves, let the empyrean flow through you, and do your best. No matter who wins or loses the battle, if you've given you're all, then you've both won the real conflict."
The Jedi Master waved a hand, "Begin!"
