SPECIAL FEATURES
N/A
Strengths:

  • Frontline Brawler - The Outer Rim Battle Tank (ORBT) is well armed and armored, designed to charge into the middle of a combat zone. It is well-suited for smashing through enemy infantry and armor alike, and can take a beating before being destroyed.
  • Well-Rounded - The ORBT's rear armor is reinforced and angled, limiting enemy flanking opportunities. Additionally, a majority of the ORBT's armor plating is not only angled, but also similar to each other in thickness.
Weaknesses:
  • The AT Menace - Anti-tank units can be used to deadly effect against the ORBT. Fast enough to avoid the ORBT's powerful main gun and numerous enough to outlast the ORBT's anti-infantry missiles, AT units are a safe counter to the much larger and more valuable ORBT.
  • Uneven Coverage - Despite the reinforcing of the rear armor plating, the sides of the ORBT are still major vulnerabilities. Only 80mm thick and with very slight angles, a single hit from an explosive weapon is enough to tear through the tank and kill at least two crew members. Additionally, while the rear of the tank chasis is protected, the turret's backside is still lightly armored and vulnerable.
  • Mine Alert - Lacking the long limbs of a walker or the floating ability of a repulsor tank, the ORBT is very vulnerable to mines. Its limited bottom armor means that a single mine of almost any size is enough to destroy an ORBT.
  • Tortise - Compared to tanks and walkers of similar dimensions, the ORBT is relatively slow, with a top speed of only 30 km/h. Additionally, certain land hazards such as mud and soft sand are significant hindrances, as the ORBT's weight and low speed make it easy to get stuck.
DESCRIPTION

The Outer Rim Battle Tank is Outer Rim Military Enigneering's first step into armored vehicle design.

The primary role of the ORBT is frontline brawling, where it can engage walkers and other tanks of similar size with its impressive armor and powerful armament. However, it is more vulnerable to infantry, as its anti-infantry rockets are rapidly expended. Additionally, the ORBT's lack of speed and maneuverability makes it an easy target.

Produced in the millions, ORBTs were shipped out to Outer Rim's customers.
