OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Osseriton Penal Colony
  • Classification: Prison
  • Location: Osseriton
  • Affiliation: Brotherhood of the Maw
  • Population: Crowded
  • Demographics:
    • It is difficult to tell what the exact demographics of the penal colony were before the Brotherhood invaded Osseriton, claiming with it the prison and all it's contents. What is known is that a majority of the population is near-human prisoners who now act as slave labor and forced conscripts for the Brotherhood.
  • Wealth: Poor
  • Stability: Low
    • Any semblance of order has been shattered completely by the Brotherhood's conquest of Osseriton. The prisoners run rampant, free to do as they wish within the confines of the facility untamed and left to rot under the supervision of the Brotherhood of the Maw.
  • Freedom & Oppression:
    • The prisoners of the penal colony are still prisoners under the watchful eyes of their new wardens. The Brotherhood allows the inmates to do as they wish as long as they do not attempt to escape, maintaining the high levels of outer security to prevent escape. Dissents and unruly inmates are subjected to gladiator fights to the death amid 'the Arena', or are outright killed in public displays of utter cruelty. A quota of prisoners are pulled each day to labor for the Brotherhood, some returning in pieces, and others who impress their masters are inducted into the ranks of slave-soldiers to be broken further by the Taskmaster aboard the Holy City over Rhand. Religious pogroms are pushed subtly over the populace over loudspeakers, each day the entirety of the penal colony is forced to listen to the sermons of the Heathen Priesthood and sacrifices are made to the Hidden Maw by selective 'lottery' among the populace.
  • Description: Situated in the midst of a harsh desert, Osseriton Penal Colony is a Maximum Security Prison containing many of the Galaxy's most dangerous criminals. Surrounded by landmines, harsh deserts, and rows of outer defenses bill the colony as nigh inescapable. Built to resemble a traditional prison across the entire colony, inmates were meant to be kept in shared cells with common recreation areas with little intervention by guards. There are street ways and rail cars that transport foot traffic from various 'blocks' all controlled from the Skyhook in the center of the colony. Each district or 'block' is a territory in it's own for gangs and criminals making their claim, thick walls separate the districts from the inner confines of the colony which are used by administrative authority and guards. Living quarters, an armory and everything needed to keep staff for such a large penal facility is held within the inner city near the base of the Skyhook. The Skyhook itself being the center and largest structure of the colony, it is here that prisoners and material are hoisted into the atmosphere for transport off-world. The warden's office and control center for the entirety of the colony rests here within the confines of this superstructure.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Zachariel Steelblood Zachariel Steelblood 's Throne Room: Formerly the Warden's office, now known as the House of Steelblood. This chamber is the center of power on the penal colony and the source of commands from the new regime planet side. The Brotherhood of the Maw's numbers swell here among the court of the bloodthirsty warlord, it is here that Zachariel is judge, jury, and executioner over the vast populace. A massive window overlooks the entirety of the penal colony and vast desert landscape, a throne made of skulls, bone, and durasteel stands imposing against the desert light shining through the bloodstained chamber.
  • Command Center: State of the Art control room that monitors and controls every facet of the penal colony, the Brotherhood have retrofitted the chamber further with fiberwire and cable cluttering the walls. Monitors, terminals, and holoprojectors fill the room making it more of a war room than control center.

What was once the living areas, armory, infirmaries, and luxurious staff operated district has fallen into a marauder infested hell hole, a testament to the savagery by which they define themselves.
  • 'The Arena': The Gladiatorial Arena set up to entertain and hone the prisoners of the penal colony by order of the Warlord Zachariel Steelblood Zachariel Steelblood . Those who fall out of favor are tossed into the ranks of the most bloodthirsty murders this side of the Unknown Regions has to offer.
  • Block 1: A district of city utilized as cellblocks and recreation areas for the least dangerous convicts.
  • Block 2: A district of city utilized as cellblocks and recreation areas for the more dangerous convicts.
  • Block 3: Maximum security district for the most dangerous inmates, there is no access to the outside here for those that dwell within these halls. The Brotherhood keep the doors unlocked and open for those who live here to come and go as they please to terrorize any of the other districts.
  • Block 4: Abandoned Infirmaries and Automated Mess Halls. Completely droid operated district left for the prisoners to do as they wish.
  • Block 5: A district of city utilized for those who have earned the Brotherhood's favor, those being groomed for service are kept here in better living conditions than their fellows. Violence is common here as the Brotherhood still maintains the 'Keep what you kill" mentality even among the favored. HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Founded long before the rise of the Empire, the Osseriton Penal Colony was the first and largest prison to rise on the future penal world of Osseriton. Built to resemble a city and to house the Galaxy's most dangerous criminals, the colony was built to last and expanded quickly over the decades leading to the rise of the First Order. In 28ABY the Knights of Ren raided the Osseriton Penal Colony, during which they liberated a Oubliette-Class Dungeon Transport for personal use as the Night Buzzard.

Records detail that the colony survived in different variations and under various regimes over the centuries. It wasn't until 800ABY that the prison expanded immensely from the chaos that began striking across the galaxy, as the last 64 years went by the prison swelled in number. Fattened by wealth and expansion, the prison staff were unprepared for the vast invasion force that struck planet side. The Brotherhood of the Maw emerged from the deepest recesses of the Unknown Regions to claim the world for their own and with it the human resources that were imprisoned within. The maruading warbands slaughtered the entirety of the guard staff without mercy and cut down anyone that would not kneel in their wake. Those that could be salvaged were turned into slaves for the war machine that fueled the Brotherhood, swiftly a new regime was established as one of the many warlords took claim and reorganized the penal colony into a feudal fiefdom.

Now, the Brotherhood has rebuilt and established a firm hand of control over Osseriton, using the material and prisoners to fuel their offworld labor efforts. The Skyhook constantly brings in and out fresh blood, playing in the distance the unholy word of the Hidden Maw as anarchy reigns under the Warlord Zachariel Steelblood and only the strongest live to see another day.
