Intent: An interface for Orphen and his Data-pad/ technology as well as recording information and attaining scientific data as it presents itself.
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Orphen
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Orphen
Modularity: No.
Production: Unique
Material: Titanium reinforces alusteel alloy casing containing multiple laser imaging micro-cameras behind it to cross section for depth and distance and even density combined with a small power cell which lasts about 3 weeks before needing to recharge.
Description: Taken from the basic templates of the headbands widely used in the age of the old republic but updated with the new standard of modern technology, Orphen's Visor could be described as a scientific model compared to a combat model. It's main purpose is to attain and process data, be it a moving object and calculating its velocity and trajectory or the composition and density of materials or the properties of energies at very high speeds. The visor scans using a high frequency penetrating wave which measures density and composition by how deep it penetrates through an object / the resistance it provides, and measures speed by how fast objects move through it. Relaying data on a constant feed which can be too fast for normal people to perceive if the objects are fast enough, and substances which are notably dense, similar to lead can prevent the scanning from penetrating any deeper.

The visor has a built in database which covers all basic known elements in order to draw from, but notably, anything particularly rare or alien may appear as a data anomaly, though the visor will still attempt to calculate what it can. While the visor is on, it is always recording, saving all time-stamped information in a short term data-file on the visor itself, and the data-pad which Orphen carries. The visor is also prone to EM pulses, causing the system to need a reboot.

The more basic functions the Visor provides is a HUD where all data is displayed in full as well as a wireless link which is able to connect to Orphens' DCD, allowing him to tactically image the destination of his droids and map out battlefields or his data-pad to store information it records. It also contains a short range communications device in order to give the Visor vocal commands or talk to nearby allies. The Visor is capable of a few varying modes of vision, such as low-light optics (night vision) as well as thermal optics (heat vision both hot and cold.) and can aid him in interfacing with other machines which may or may not be compatible with the short range projector/ receiver.

Just for Clarity, this basically means it has a very extensive periodic table of elements?

Short answer: Yes

Long Answer: Yes,but I don't imagine just a database on that would be too straining on a machine, It's just numbers and metadata mostly, so while it would be pretty comprehensive, like it says, anything that would be out of the field of common science would not be there... So, it would be able to identify things like plastasteel, durasteel, courtosis content in sand etc, it would not be able to identify things like alchemised metals or rare metals which have not been studied or would with reason not be in a database like this.

So there's meaningful room for it to not be perfect. Just really useful.
