OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: NPC already used in a thread for basic padawan/initiate training, I'd like to expand the character as a spokesperson to interact with in the future to develop Aing-tii force user philosophy/doctrine. He's a candidate for acting as a liasion to the aing-tii a la Tadar'ro
- Image Credit: Adapted from "A Group of Aing-Tii" - Tim Eldred - Star Wars: The Kathol Outback Published as part of "The Darkstryder Campaign" by West End Games (as shown on Aing-Tii - Wookieepedia)
- Role: Warrior Monk, Spokesperson and Neutral Force Trainer of the Aing-tii
- Links: Nightmares in Dreamland
- Age: Unknown, believed to be a middle-aged adult (I'm not aware of a source for Aing-tii lifespan, so I'm not sure what is reasonable)
- Force Sensitivity: Aing-tii Journeyman (Knight-level)
- Species: Aing-tii
- Appearance: A rock-like, exoskeletal creature standing about two meters tall. Bipedal with two clawed feet, a long prehensile tail, and two smaller arms each with three large digits. Like all Aing-Tii, Wallex's body is covered entirely in jointed protective coverings of white, bony plates. Wallex's head is small, jutting out from the creature's chest, featuring a pair of large eyes and several long, thin tongues that extended around half a meter from his mouth. Wallex's plates are covered in etched hieroglyphic charaters, covering nearly his entire body.
- Name: Orn Wallex
- Loyalties: Aing-tii species
- Wealth: None, supported by the species collectively
- Notable Possessions: Vor'cha stun stick, personal affects
- Skills:
- Force Sensitive
- Aing-Tii Fighting-sight- Knight Level
- Fold space - Knight Level
- Flow Walk - Knight Level
- Hyperspecial perception/instinctive astrogation - Master Level
- Telepathy - Master Level
- Weaknesses:
- Sacred Homeland - Wallex will not generally leave the Kathol Rift. Only extremely rare and extraordinary circumstances will draw Wallex outside of the Rift and the Kathol Outback
- Divine Purpose - With the exception of aggressively attacking slave ships and killing slavers that pass through the Kathol Rift, Wallex will only engage in defensive, non-lethal combat focusing on self-preservation and escape.
- Religious Zealotry - Wallex views the use of force powers as a disrespectful and improper use of a sacred gift, drastically limiting his voluntary use of his force powers. Wallex will generally only use his powers to fuel Aing-tii Sanhedrim ships, to navigate the kathol rift, in defensive combat, and to demonstrate techniques to worthy outsiders.
- Personality: Enigmatic and wholly alien behaviors, aloof and intellectual. Has an academic interest in those living outside of the Kathol Rift, particularly force users. Philosophical. Initially xenophobic, but warms up to those he grows to understand and trust.
- Weapon of Choice: Vor'cha stun stick, tail whip, force powers
- Combat Function: Extremely unlikely to engage in combat, as he rarely leaves the Kathol Rift. Heavy use of force powers to disengage from individual combat, backed up by prowess with the Vor'cha stun stick. Extremely slow and lacking in agility without force abilities. Tends toward pacifism, but in keeping with cannon, more aggressive in starship combat when not on the Aing-tii homeworld.
Much like the rest of his secretive species, little is known about Orn Wallex. A warrior monk, Wallex began being indoctrinated early in the Aing-tii religious tradition. During his training, he developed his knowledge of Aing-tii force doctrine and became a teacher of other learners. As an adult, Wallex became a zealous adherent the Aing-tii's belief system. He spent most of his life patrolling the Kathol Rift, attempting to locate religious relics, and meditating to discern the will of Those Who Dwell Beyond the Veil. Years of navigating the Rift have honed his abilities to safely navigate the rift. More recently, Wallex followed in the footsteps of the mythical figure Tadar'ro to become a liaison to the few outsiders who managed to fall into peaceful contact with the Aing-tii. Selected through a unity ritual, he is tasked with acting as a voice of the unified will of the Aing-tii.
Additional Comments
Before being aware of the NPC optional rules, I pulled him in as a point of contact for my character in the thread referenced above. I didn't originally intend to have anything further to do with him, but I am interested in exploring and developing Chaos Aing-tii philosophy further, most likely with a minor faction at a later date. Specifically, I'm interested in delving into the mindset of characters who can experience non-linear timelines. As such, it will be useful to have a recorded, reusable NPC to interact with as the liaison to the outside world. I'm happy to answer additional questions about how I intend to use the character.
I originally envisioned him as a neutral-master level character, but I know that at least one Aing-tii master character has already been rejected by RPJs in the history of the board because it was too powerful. Having played Aing-tii characters extensively in my prior game, I'm cognizant of reasonable limits that should be placed on their powers, particularly in a setting like Chaos where the training and force power rules are more flexible. I think that setting his powers at neutral-knight level will address this and will also will help foster player-to-player Aing-tii training role play. This, along with his aloof nature and tendency to not want to leave the rift should ensure that only those who actively seek him out will be able to learn from him, limiting his potential for abuse.
