SETTING INFORMATION

Structure Name: Ord Biniir Shipyards

Classification: Shipyards

Location: Ord Biniir

Affiliation: Ord Biniir Shipwrights (The Sith Ascendancy by proxy)

Accessibility: Resides at the back of the city and is fenced off. Only persons with clearance are allowed to enter the shipyards.

Security: The shipyard's security is provided by three companies from the TAIC

Description:

The shipyards occupy the back end of the city, bordering on the forest itself. The yards are massive, accounting for approximately 1400 meters with four construction sites built inside the fenced off area. Each construction site houses a specific type of ship produced. In the center of the shipyard, sits the R&D building.

The seven construction sites that comprise the integrity of the shipyards each focus on a set of ship designs with a particular model in mind. Designated by a number only, the sites are as follows:

Site 1: Responsible for the creation of Starfighters and those associated with that specific class.

Site 2: It focuses only on Corvettes.

Site 3: It churns out Frigates.

Site 4: Cruiser class ships are born here.

Site 5: Legendary Star Destroyers are assembled at this site.

Site 6: Battlecruisers can be found being put together here.

Site 7: Reserved for extremely massive designs like Flagships and Space Stations.

Sites 5-7 were established in orbit due to the nature of what they created. The sites were barely functional until the arrival of the Sith Ascendancy, where they helped to redesign the orbital shipyard sites to accommodate the growing need for supply and demand for these types of ships. Since these yards were orbital based, three Revelation-class Star Destroyers were assigned to guard/protect the orbital yards.

POINTS OF INTEREST

R&D Facility: Situated in the center of the shipyards, here the engineers employed by the Sith Ascendancy work alongside the shipwrights that worked here before the arrival of Sith to bounce ideas off one another to build new ships or redesign/upgrade existing ships.

The ships already assembled in the Sith Ascendancy fleet that can be redesigned or upgraded and future projects for the fleet are strictly for the TSA only. Other ships on the drawing boards that are future constructs, and not associated with the TSA, are built with the understandings that both parties, the TSA and shipwrights, split the profits from sales equally.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Around 635 ABY, the shipyards within the city began to go into construction mode. The original shipwrights collectively bought enough land to see their idea come to fruition. Though the land was there, it took both time and credits for the entire shipyard to be completed; which was three years (completed in 638 ABY).

In the beginning, the shipyards were designed to bring much need financial support to the recent settled city known as Dascoria. Over the course of time, the shipyards began taking independent contracts to alleviate the cost of citizen's needs like imports. With the arrival of the Sith Ascendancy, the shipyards found a new meaning to the word flourishing; as the Sith poured more resources, at a cheaper rate of cost since they supplied resources from ruled worlds eliminating the needs of spending on ship material imports.

Today, the shipyards provide the Sith Ascendancy with another means to swell their naval fleet, while simultaneously earning credits from their independent contracts.

Fun concept. Couple of things:

Your listed area is very small relative to the ships you're building.

Star Destroyers, battlecruisers, flagships, and stations are normally built in space. There's some wiggle room, but you'll probably want to have a orbital component to your yards, or we're talking just a gigantic amount of area, especially if you want to build more than one ship of each size at a time.
