DESCRIPTION
The Orar'sacarhr, meaning Thunder Bow, is a powerful Coilgun, sometimes fitted with bowcaster arms as electromagnetic stabilizers to level the bolt and absorb shock from the weapon. The stock is fitted with technology similar to a miniaturized inertial compensator to bring the recoil down to manageable levels, though it is still known to leave a hunter with a sore shoulder after a couple of bolts.

The idea was to accelerate a large bolt, capable of actually injuring large creatures, such as Rancors, Terentateks, Beskar Epar, and even very large creatures like Krayt Dragons and Sando Aqua Monsters. In order to do this, the weapon had to be able to penetrate a creature's natural armor and cause massive tissue damage. To this end, the bolt that is fired by the Orar'sacarhr is a two stage, high velocity, high density Euk'gar projectile. The first stage is a harpoon, fairly basic technology, with a heavy bolt accelerated to high speeds to allow for penetration. The head of the harpoon is fitted with spring-loaded barbs to prevent it from being pulled back through without injuring the creature further.

The second stage is a pair of chemically accelerated rounds fired from the inside of the bolt upon timed delay. Normally these are ori'shuk or Anti-coagulant rounds designed to maximize internal trauma, bleeding, and tissue damage, but on occasion a hunter will use tranqarest darts or coin shot for extremely large prey. These rounds are set to either side of the harpoon's barbed head so as not to destroy or damage the barbs.

Sometimes the primary projectile is fitted with a high tension wire, capable of surviving a great deal of stress. Occasionally this is replaced by stun cord, which while more fragile, allows an stun blast to traverse the cable and strike the beast through the harpoon bolt.

The weapon is highly accurate with a moderate range and good muzzle velocity, along with a durable construction. However, due to its size, both length and width, it is difficult to maneuver around corners and in hallways, as it wasn't intended to be an assault weapon. Also its weight, which contributes to its power, makes it difficult to carry and is very heavy to be used in fast paced combat. Furthermore, the weapon is a muzzle loaded weapon, taking time to power down and power the coils back up after each loading, and also having to have space in order to reload it. But, seeing as the weapon is designed for hunting very large monsters and beast, this design flaw wasn't paid much attention. That said, its a very bad anti-personnel weapon given these flaws.

Strengths:
  • High Power: The Orar'Sacarhr is very powerful, intended to punch through thick hides and armored chitin and bone, and deliver tremendous tissue damage to the target.
Weaknesses:
  • Heavy: The weapon is heavy, making it difficult to carry and run with.
  • Large: The weapon is very large, difficult to maneuver around tight corners, and thus not intended for any battlefield role.
  • Ammunition Constraints: It is a single round, muzzle loaded harpoon gun. It isn't made for fire-fights. In addition the bolts are fairly large and need to be carried.
  • Muzzle-Loader: The weapon is reloaded from the muzzle, which takes a great deal of time as the coils have to turn off and then power back on. A good hunter is able to manage 3-4 bolts a minute.
  • Armor: The weapon is good for punching through plastoid body armor, flesh, hide, and hammering bone, but actual vehilce armor is another matter.
  • Range: Some of the beasts the weapon is designed to hunt are only barely smaller than the weapon's effective range.
Special Features:
  • Durable Frame
  • Stopping Power
  • Anti-Coagulant
