DESCRIPTION
The Orar'ragr, or Thunder Spear, is the second weapon designed by Gotal'veman for hunting the large monsters of the galaxy. Made of durable Euk'gar, the weapon is strong, light-weight, and using compression technology, it is able to be compressed into a small, easy to carry tool.

The spear itself is based on the Harpoons of the Orar'sacarhr, using a long slender blade with a crossbeam along the base of the blade before the haft which keeps the weapon from being driven too far into the beast and allows a hunter to hold a creature at arms length. The blade is a standard solid metal vibroblade with little special about its construction.

What truly makes the weapon viable against such large and resilient creatures is the pair of small angled barrels just ahead of the crossbeams. These are very short, only barely larger than the rounds loaded into them, set perpendicular of the crossbeams and blade edges so as not to damage them, and are angled facing away from the blade. The breach for the weapon is exposed by a small switch between blade and crossbeams, allowing them to be reloaded.

Each barrel holds a single round or shell to be chemically accelerated from the weapon upon trigger press. Normally these are Ori'shuk rounds or Anti-Coagulant rounds designed to maximize tissue damage or bloodloss in a large creature, released in contact or within the hide of the creature. Sometimes for very large beasts Coin Shot is used instead of Ori'shuk rounds, and occasionally Tranqarest is used to slow down the beast, and muddle its reflexes.

The spear is excellent on its own for mid-sized game, however larger game often requires several severe injuries to major organs and the nervous system.

Strengths:
  • Mass Tissue Damage: The Spear is designed to cause massive amounts of tissue damage to very large and dangerous creatures. Its more than capable of being lethal to humans.
Weaknesses:
  • Range: The Mass Driver Rounds have effectively no range fired only when the blade is jabbed into hide and flesh.
  • Armor: While designed to stab into thick hide, actual armor plates are a different matter. Its made for dealing tissue damage not armor penetration.
  • Ammunition: Each Spear is a breach loaded weapon at the spear blade with only two rounds, that are fired simultaneously.
Special Features:
  • Molecular Compression
