One Toke Over The Line

Nar Shadda

Corellian Sector

Back to the grind. After a few weeks of wandering about the galaxy with a pirate band and doing a bit of hunting Jathin was finally back in Sun space, enforcing the Black Sun's authority with a ruthless efficiency his employers enjoyed. Today he was keeping eyes on a former low level gangster who'd just been given the management of a casino. His job was to ensure the newcomer did his effectively, and if he didn't, arrange for a change in management via bullet to the brain. Dressed smartly and in a newly pressed suit Jathin entered the shining casino and was greeted at the door by the Rodian who'd been given the job. The lights of the various machines flickered between different shades of conflicting colors, reflecting various shades on the environment around them. Behind that a large chandelier was illuminating the centerpiece of the room, a large group of sabaac tables. After Jathin had glanced about he extended his hand out with a cold smile at the alien before him.

The Rodian took a glance at the tattooed Black Sun that was forever etched into Jathin's skin and gave a nervous shake in return. The creature was right to be nervous. With a casino this expensive the judgment would be brutal. Though a non firm handshake was a sign of weakness or contempt among strangers.

Mark one.

"Hello Mr.Fallin, I'm Mr.Slajk. I'm so glad to welcome you to my casino! As you can see everything's in working order--" The Rodian who's name Jathin had already forgotten droned on a Jathin lit a cigarette and took in a long drag only half listening to him, no doubt the being before him had memorized the handbook, but the body language was speaking louder than the nomenclature.

Jathin sighed and followed the Rodian as he nervously showed off the casino.

"The Galactic Cowboy"
After a long day at the platform Jayce steps off the ship ramp, looking back to R9 "Take good care of 'er R9, I'ma go see if I can get a few drinks and swindle suckers out of their credits, hehe." Nodding to himself in assurance, being a many of high confidence Jayce begins to waltz away, leaving the "Lucky Lady" in the capable hands of his astromech droid "R9-X2." Entering the streets of the Corellian Sector after a short walk, Jayce waves down a city taxi that stops next to him. Hopping in Jayce notices a flier posted on the dashboard of the taxi advertising a new casino on the scene in the Corellian Sector of Nar Shaada, not too far from where he is at. Pointing to the flier Jayce says "Take me there bud, I 'ought get me some ladies, drinks, and credits ya hear!" Chuckling in between words Jayce nods as the taxi lifts off starting to enter the stream of crafts moving through the late night city. As the taxi flies, off in the distance Jayce can already see the flashing sign of the casino. "Hehe she is a beauty." He thinks to himself, reaching into his pocket. Taking out some forged credit chips and handing them to the taxi driver as he arrives, Jayce convinces him that it was a great ride and that the extra credits are just for him. Contempt the driver is fooled and flies off leaving Jayce to walk into this large casino surrounded by people coming in with filled pockets and leaving with empty hopes.

Entering into the Casino Jayce is greeted by a security droid that proceeds to scan him for any weaponry, customary to the casino scene. Hiding his holsters with his trench coat, Jayce places his left hand on the droid as if making a friendly gesture to it, nothing suspicious to any observes. Smirking under the brim of his hat, Jayce activates a small ion discharge from his brace, causing the droid to malfunction briefly by reading that Jayce was unarmed. "Heh too easy..." Walking past a few bouncers nodding and smirking, Jayce continues over to a table of dice one of his favorite games. Reaching into the pocket of a nearby Twi'lek successfully withdrawing a few credit chips, Jayce tosses them onto the table and looks to the dealer. "Put that in my name good sir, I'm lookin' to win me some tonight, HaHa!" Jayce chuckles, signaling for a waitress to bring him some Alcoholic drink and a cigar. "6, 5, 4!" The dice dealer says looking to Jayce who has just won the bet, "Hah! Let hit it again boy!" Says Jayce as he splits the credit chips he won, taking half and placing them into his coat, the other half remaining on the table. Taking the drink as it arrives, Jayce looks to the Twi'lek citizen whom he had "borrowed" the credits from and smiles before taking a sip. The Twi'lek starting to catch on frowns and proceeds to shove Jayce yelling in his native tongue. "Woah there Squid boy! Don't touch me again, or that hand will be mine..." Jayce's mood turning very serious and grim suddenly, staring into the eyes of the Twi'lek. Taking one final sip of his drink, setting the empty glass down he would bite down on the cigar he ordered hard in order to look even meaner. "Get outta' my sight scum." The Twi'lek nodding in fear of the suddenly dangerous man stumbled back a bit, turning and nearly tripping as he fled the table. "Heh, coward... THANKS FOR THE LOAN!" Jayce yelled as he once more smiled, the waitress lighting his cigar for him as he diverted his attention back to the dice game.

When the Rodian's tour was interrupted by an unruly patron Jathin simply continued his drag and looked expectantly at the Rodian with an almost lazy stare. For the first time in their brief time of knowing one another the Rodian didn't disappoint him. The stumbling being did the correct thing, sending a couple of very large bouncers to instruct the troublemaker to return the chips and get out of the casino. It would be nearly suicidal for the man not to comply. With the combination of large angry beings with blasters and the fact that this was a Sun casino in a Sun system would make a chance of escaping tremendously difficult, besides the cameras about. While it was unlikely the Suns would place a bounty for a non violent escape, the violent type would leave that potential. Then there was Jathin.

The veteran killer who worked for some of the worst criminals in the galaxy. Though he wouldn't interfere.

This was the perfect test for the new manager. Jathin wouldn't intervene unless the other man somehow endangered him.

Looking up to see a few bouncers starting to gather Jayce smirked a bit. "This is where the fun begins hehe... " Reaching under the back of his trench coat, Jayce starts to spool up his shield generator, flapping up the tail of his coat to reveal the modified DX-13 blaster pistols in their holsters. Reaching for his right gun with his left hand, gripping onto the handle while simultaneously unlatching the holster strap. Jayce draws his first DX-13 Pistol, aiming it at a group of two bouncers, firing two single shots as he reaches with his right hand to his left holster. Using the same technique to withdraw his second DX-13 Pistol, Jayce spins around immediately taking aim and letting off two more shots from his pistol at two other bouncers present. Stopping in place and spinning both pistol on their respective hands index finger, Jayce just smirks to himself. "Too easy, I thought it would be a bit more fun heh..." Stopping the spinning action, holstering both pistols simultaneously Jayce rushes towards the dealer as the four bouncers lay on the ground dead. Grabbing the credit deposit box and whatever was on the table Jayce smirks to himself. "Haha!" Starting to run outwards from his current position, Jayce heads for the door at full speed unchallenged by bouncers due to his earlier stand off with them. Right as he steps through the door passing a set of cameras, Jayce tips his hat in order to conceal his face from their view while he escapes, passing the door and heading towards a hover craft with no occupants in it Jayce's Shield generator activates. Engaging the engines of the craft, Jayce begins his escape towards the platform where his ship is at.

Despite the smuggler's obviously clever attempt to kill off the security, those he didn't hit immediately drew their Blasters and began firing. A bolt flicked past Jathin's head, unacceptably close in the hitman's honest opinion. The enforcer drew his heavy calibered .47 slug thrower and shot two very large accurately placed rounds at the man before he could exit the door. Jathin rarely missed and he doubted this time would be an exception.

The Rodian called in others if the man managed to escape the shots while Jathin moved to pursue.

One shot landed on the lower back of a grunt that was commanded by the Rodian to pursue Jayce, killing him due to the force of impact of the slug. The other impacted Jayce in the middle of his back, slamming into his trench coat perfectly in the center due to the well aimed fire. If it had not been for the cortosis plating inserts in the trench coat, Jayce would have been in trouble. Coughing out the words "Damn it! The bastard almost took off me head!" Jayce stumbled forward due to the force, but due to his stature and agility was able to regain balance and proceed with his escape via the stolen vehicle. At this point the shield generator was active and Jayce was now protected from projectile fire due to it, he continued evading and easily losing the pursuing bouncers. The only one whom seemed skilled enough to follow him was Jathin the enforcer. Bringing up from his pocket a small commlink Jayce started yelling into it while attempting to weave through traffic. "R9!... R9!, Start the engines and raise the shied, DO IT NOW! " Jayce dropped the commlink as he suddenly turned he craft onto its side mid air, evading incoming traffic from civilians. "Damn it!" he thought to himself as he straightened the stolen vehicle and continued to the space port. R9 reacted to the call, and began to spool the ship engines and activate shielding generators.

The call had went out and the police goons would soon be soaring past toward the thief. Jathin entered his own parked speeder and sped after the smuggler, following his swerving path through traffic. The high wind flew past Jathin's head as he sped through the highly congested Nar Shaddaa airspace.

Arriving at the platform where "Lady Luck" was docked, Jayce jumped out of the stolen speeder and began to sprint towards his ship only looking back to send shots at pursuers. Hitting a grunt in the foot and making him dive in front of another, tripping him. Moving towards the open ramp to board the ship, Jayce thinks to himself; "So long. hehe." Having boarded successfully his ship, the ramp closes as the ship begins to lift up simultaneously. Jayce tosses the credit box containing a large amount of funds stolen from the casino onto the co-pilot seat, smiling and reaching for a cigar as he seats himself into the pilot seat. The ship begging to rotate mid air, the engines spooling while other forces arrive and start to fire at the ship. Energy weapons and slugs hitting the shields of the ship, doing no damage and simply being deflected before making contact with the hull. The ship begins to move out of the hangar begging to pick up speed as it moves into the skies, attempting to exit the atmosphere.
