Planet Terminus, Kallea Sector, Outer Rim Territories

Not a place for tourists. Thought Minerva, walking through the slums near the spaceport. Unlike most occasions she was not wearing her Mandalorian armor. Instead the mercenary wore a dark gray hoodie with dark pants and matching combat boots. The hood covered her face as she turned the corner narrowly passing a bulky droid lumbering the opposite way.

The sound of machinery and hundreds of conversations in various languages echoed all around her. Minerva ignored it all carrying a duffel bag, navigating the street and passerbys while keeping a subtle eye out for any would-be trouble makers. Just because I’m not in beskar doesn’t make me any less dangerous. Keeping that observation to herself Minerva continued until she stopped in front of a makeshift joint with a sign in basic with the words translated to open fight night.

“Yep this is the place.”

With that statement she entered inside…

Hours later, a sizable crowd surrounded a makeshift ring, clamoring for action. Subsequently the establishment’s intercom turned on with a boisterous voice.

“Welcome everyone I am your host, Gazzin. We have a special treat for you all, open fight night!”

The mob shouted and cheered before Gazzin continued.

“We have only one rule for our contestants this evening. Fight until there’s a victor. Now introducing first, a human mercenary with a penchant for violence...Minerva Fhirdiad!”

At the mention of her name, Minerva came out behind the curtain, wearing only a gray sports top and matching shorts. Her brown intense eyes showed defiance as the audience watched her march down the ramp with confident steps. Using the top rope as leverage she jumped inside the ring, landing on both feet.

Then Minerva walked over to the left side of the ring, rolling her shoulders in preparation. “This better be a challenge. I hate disappointments when it comes to fights.” She whispered, waiting for her mysterious opponent to come out next.

This fight was something she was looking forward to. The last time she climbed into an underground fight, her entire life was altered and she met the person whom she now considered a second father. Even if she lost again, she was confident that it was going to yield some promising results.

After establishing the location and time with her contact, she had set off and arrived with perfect timing. After touching down, she checked her gear and disembarked, leaving Baby in charge of the ship once more. Just like every other time, she left her armour behind, only bringing along her trusty particle pistol and satchel full of goodies. Her cargo shorts and tank top was all she needed for this fight. At least she was much better built and a much better fighter since the last fight.

After searching for a while she managed to find the place and quickly entered, making her way to the fighting pit. The crowd was roaring already. From behind her curtain, she listened to the announcer as he introduced her opponent. The mention of a human merc had her very curious. Was certainly much more intimidating than "gun runner mutt"... she hoped that wasn't what the announcer opted for.

"If my stuff is missing from that locker, I'm coming after you people." she threatened before she stepped through the curtain. Cracking her necl and knuckles, she ignored the announcer and crowd as her crimson gaze focused entirely on the young woman across from her. They were the same height, though Shai was quite a bit bigger. Not necessarily a good thing, but that remained to be seen.

She took a deep breath as she balled her knuckles. Her trump card was her weight and the durasteel fist hidden under the perfect replica of fur on her right arm. She wanted to think that her skills were superior, but she had learned a long time ago not to judge a person on their looks. Perhaps this merc could mop the floor with her.

When the fight started, Shai's hands were up and ready to defend as she carefully closed the distance. Despite her size, she was light on her feet and ready to dodge. When she got close enough, she launched a few quick punches to get the ball rolling.

She hoped the fight was going to be interesting...

Minerva immediately looked up at the other fighter’s entrance. A Shistavanen now that’s interesting. Growing excited she bounced from one foot to another while trying to maintain her defiant expression who stared back at her. Saying nothing Minerva raised her arms to shoulder level with tightened fists. A mixture of anticipation and wariness filled the young warrior’s heart as she waited for the signal.

Subsequently the bell rang. Once that happened Minerva advanced after Shai. The crowd baited them both on, demanding instant action. It was granted as Shai danced and threw the first punches.

Acting on training and hard earned instinct Minerva twist and evade most of the punches. However the last two strikes caught her on the left arm and the side of her stomach. Grunting Minerva lashed out, attempting to punch Shai toward the face with the right hand followed by a sudden left knee strike aimed for the Shistavanen‘s gut.

The fight instantly kicked into high gear as Shai, scored a few decent hits on her opponent, although the girl quickly followed up wuth a few hits of her own. She managed to block the punch, though there was little she could do about the kick to her stomach.

A pained growl escaped her as the knee collided with her stomach. However she quickly followed up and grabbed hold of hed opponent's leg while her right fist threw a few jabs at her ribs and gut. She hoped the cybernetic limb did a good job of amplifying the impact. With that done, she let go of her opponent and shoved her away.

She took the faint second to get a deep breath in and recompose herself. It wasn't the first gut shot she received in her life, though it was a decent one. <"Bloody merc."> she growled in Mando'a as she glared at the girl. At least now she had an idea of the girl's style.

With her fists at the ready she danced her way closer to the mercenary, light on her feet and ready to move. "You roll over now, you'll save us both a lot of effort." she quipped with a smug grin as her crimson gaze was locked onto her opponent's eyes.

Minerva’s successful knee strike proved short lived. Her eyes widened with surprise when the wolf woman grabbed her leg before it could go back down. Subsequently Shai punched her ribs. Pain erupted, causing her to grunt followed by another before Minerva used both arms to block the rest of the jabs.

Even then cybernetic blows caused Minerva to grimace before she was shoved away. Some of the crowd jumped and up excited by the violence while others hollered for more. The human leaned on the ropes briefly gripping her side.

Manda her right hand is armored!

With that realization she shared a glare with Shai. The audience’s shouting prevented her from hearing the other fighter’s words. Back into a combat stance Minerva circled Shai who was maneuvering toward her. Upon the latter’s smug taunt the human scowl in defiance.

“Kriff you fleabag!” Minerva fired back. Suddenly she made a feint of another knee strike but instead unleashed a flurry of jabs toward Shai’s face at the last moment.

A cackling laugh erupted as the woman shouted at Shai. The fight quickly resumed as the girl tried to feint an attack, but instead let loose with a flurry of punches. Shai tried to dodge and block but a number of them got through. But as a fist collided with her muzzle, she swung a leg up and buried her steel-capped boot in the girl's gut to kick her away.

Now it was her chance to have at it. She lunged at the girl with a flurry of punches of her own. Between the punches the threw a backhand or two as well. Violent snarls escaped her with each punch.

With her last punch she attempted to grab hold of the girl's arm and spun around to try and hurl the girl over her shoulder. If it worked against Kragr, it would certainly work against this girl. If successful, she would climb on top of the girl and attempt to put her into a chokehold. "Squaring off against a Mando isn't the best idea, kiddo. Just give up." she would growl into the girl's ear as she held her.

Little did she know just how true the reverse was for her as well...

Gasping for air upon being kicked in the gut Minerva stepped back. The young merc had hardly any time to recover when her opponent charged in. Minerva attempted to evade, but after dodging the initial trio Shai’s punches struck true. First her stomach exploded in pain followed by her chest, left arm then jaw.

Vision blurring Minerva was subsequently gripped by the arm. Much to her surprise she was thrown over the canine woman’s shoulders and crashed onto the floor. Several patrons jumped in savage delight while Minerva grunted in pain. Just as she tried to sit up, Shai got on top and locked her in a chokehold.

Gritting her teeth Minerva heard her rival’s taunt. Eyes widening with disbelief the wandering warrior then remembered what her adopted father said many times.

Mandalorian isn't a race, it’s a creed.

Whether Shai was truly a sister by code or not Minerva needed to break free. As they struggled, humans managed to say. “I...won’t...vod.” Regardless of how Shai reacted to the Mandalorian term, Minerva made her move. Striking the left elbow into her fellow Mando’s side repeatedly Minerva would then attempt to slam the back of her head into Shai’s face.

If successful Minerva would break free of the chokehold and rolled a few feet away into another fighting stance.

The moment the words lwft her lips, Shai froze up. Was she fighting another Mandalorian? The second of distraction bit her hard in the backside as she received a few blows to her ribs. Her grip finally broke as the girl's head crashed into her muzzle.

Shai stumbled back, with heavy breaths. Blood dripped from her muzzle as she snarled at the girl. Mando or not, Shai was furious. Nobody smacked her on the muzzle and got away with it. Wiping the blood off her broken lip and busted snout, she took a deep breath and got ready to fight further. <"That was a mistake."> she growled in Mando'a, wanting to see if the girl really was one of them.

Not wasting another second she advanced and swung with her left hand. Though at the last moment she pulled back and launched a jab at the girl's face with her right fist. Punch after punch she relied on her durasteel fist to do the heavy hitting. It was awkward but if it meant the girl would receive an extra bit of pain with each hit, she would push through.

She finally let up as she launched a kick at the girl's ribs in hopes of finally ending the fight. Her ribs were aching and her lungs were burning, not to mention the pain pulsing through her sensitive snout and muzzle with each beat of her heart. She was on her last legs. Once the anger and adrenaline wore off, she was done for. She had to end this quickly.
