SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Biologically augmented, alchemically enhanced super computer. In effect, it merges technology and alchemy to create a primitive AI by harvesting the knowledge of organic minds. So the brains are hooked up to the computer but not conscious. Essentially, they are in a coma.
STRENGTHS
  • Techno-organic alchemy. The brains of organic beings with a far above average IQ have been alchemically preserved in stasis tubes and linked togethe for computational purposes. They have been integrally linked to, and synchronised with, the super computer's system core. The Omnicade Repository is able to perform highly advanced calculations for the purpose of devising solutions to difficult problems. The super computer is very good at calculations, specifically ones related to the calculations of arcane formulas or other problems computers find difficult. But it can be used to crunch data for a variety of subjects, ranging from complex mathematical and arcane formulaeas to economics, terrorism and threat analysis. For Tephrike it computes very quickly.
WEAKNESSES
  • Limitations. The Omnicade Repository can assess and process data and devise solutions, but it can't decide. In other words, it cannot manage a project on its own, it can merely devise solutions A, B, C etc. and make recommendations.
  • Huge and bulky. It is about the size of a room, and thus not portable for all practical purposes.
  • Very power-intensive. Sibylla tried to power it via enchanted crystals, but this didn't work because the crystals burnt out or produced...odd results. As such it needs to receive power the old fashioned way...and it needs a lot.
  • The brains are kept alive through dark alchemy. Thus the process keeping them alive and synchronised can be affected by Force Light, and Force null zones.
  • The brains are no longer conscious. There is a potential of the machine being disrupted if a synchronised brain suddenly shows sign of greater awareness.

DESCRIPTION

"The mind is such a terrible thing to waste, Kyri. Don't you agree? I accord less than one percent of sentients have the cranial characteristics I seek. Many are human, but several are not. Not all the xenos are lead-brained morons. Some are intelligent rather than merely cunning and deceitful. This way they will be put to use in a practical way without danger to us."

- Sibylla Laskaris

Sibylla craves knowledge - at any cost. Unbound by the Vaderites' ideological dogmatism, she views other sentient beings as threats, assets or...blobs. In her estimation, the vast majority of sentient organic beings belong to the last category. Vaderites only view humans as people, and see aliens as lesser beings fit only to be eradicated or enslaved. By contrast, Sibylla views neither aliens nor humans as people. She has a strong sense of intellectual snobbishness...but the intellect to back it up. Drain knowledge was one way to forcibly acquire the knowledge of smart aliens and humans, but it is very limited. The logical next step was to create a technological method to harvest the minds of worthy individuals and utilise techno-alchemy to drain their knowledge.

The Omnicade Repository is the fruit of years of study, merging technology and alchemy to create a techno organic computer. The organic brains of humans and aliens alike who possess far above average intellect have been synchronised with the super computer to significantly enhance the device's overall potential and abilities. Organic brains are surgically removed, and kept alive via dark alchemy and mad science. A truly horrifying experience, to be sure.

The Omnicade Repository is able to perform highly advanced calculations for the purpose of devising solutions to difficult problems. The super computer is very good at calculations, including ones related to the calculations of arcane formulas or problems computers find difficult. This is highly advantageous for Sibylla's alchemical research and experiments, but it can crunch data for a variety of fields. By the standards of Tephriki computers, it computes very quickly.

The downside is that the super computer is incredibly power-hungry. Sibylla has tried to power it through enchanted crystals, but thus far these experiments have failed. So she has to utilise more conventional methods. Moreover, the entire device is approximately as big as a room. Thus it is not portable in emergency situations, which presents a security risk. While the synchronised brains are hooked up to the computer, they are not conscious. Sibylla is mostly interested in simply utilising the power they generate as well as harvesting their knowledge. "Occasionally one shows signs of greater awareness. That's the sign it needs to be...disposed of."

A working version of the Omnicade Repository would not see the light of day until shortly before a preternatural terrorist attack devastated the City of Humanist Destiny, the Vaderite capital. However, its creator survived the cataclysmic attack. The device would serve her well in the War of Purification.
