Old but Gold

Taris. The shining jewel of the mid rim. For millennia the planet has been scarred and torn, but people had nonetheless lived on it, prospered evan. The last time I was here a pair of Mandalorians and I had killed a Force Sensitive Rakghoul. That had not been a pleasant experience, but it had worked out for us in the end and it had helped dissipate a growing nexus of Dark Side energy that had been circling the monstrous entity.

That felt like so long ago. Back then I was still a fledgling apprentice, growing, and innocent. Years had to have passed for me to have evolved into what I was now, but it hadn’t been that long really. The past year of my life had been broken, and I had lived more than a man should have to in that one year. The salvaging crew was around, just a pair of smart people to analyze the ship and a small group of guards.

Do we have any private contractors on this mission?” I asked.

The captain turned and looked at me before regarding his datapad. “Yes sir, we have one on her way, plus we did let a few others know we were coming.

It might just get interesting then. “Alright, land at the space port and we will meet with the contractor.

Stardust again hired for a job that needed her

She had landed before hand at the space port and was bow waiting for [member="Draco Vereen"], she tapped her foot waiting as she checked her blaster humming gently "hope he hurries....time is credits...course I guess I should be patient

She said and sighed standing and walking to her ship, lot has happened in the few.....from the battle on kashyyk to losing her legs and now to here....at least she back in the work zone earning cash.

The Atrisian king was no mercenary, of this one could be certain, however the prospect of working under the dragon of mandalore [member="Draco Vereen"] was one he did not flinch at accepting. The blade was in repair, he made his way to the distant planet via more intricate means; first he delayed all appointments with the Atrisian court mandates this months fall, second he explicitly solicited un-tracked and indefinite leave in the throne-room leaving [member="Serena Bouie"] to handle the proceedings, trusting her to handle the courtship and protocols as first wife of the Tenno.

He made his was to the docks in the seats of public transport with civilian lot armed with his, jack of all trades weaponry including the axe tightly folded in his dark cloak. The hidden blade of the assassins twirling in his fingertips as he waited for the transport to dock the carefully made his way through the buzzing crowds and to the outside. He had no maps, no clue whatsoever where the meeting was going to be had, yet he needed none of that, he just closed his eyes and let the dark side of the force guide him to the familiar presence he had felt since the landing of the transport.

He walked towards where his instincts guided him and found he was alone, few if any people gathered around what looked to be a down ship, another familiar presence met him, not the one he searched for, but instead of the beautiful twi'lek he had fought with in Endor, also the one he almost came to blows with while saving the Trandoshan king. He paced to her, slow and calm while removing his cloak and letting his grin shine beside her. "I hope i'm not late... you seen the big guy yet?" He said calmly, the words reminded him that his employer... might not be that happy to see him.

The small ship landed at the space station without much delay or hesitation, engines still warm as I left with the pair of engineers and pair of guards. Mythos was a powerful Sith. One I had found myself opposing once, but he had proven himself on and off the battlefield several times since then. If anything he was an ally now, especially since the events of Contruum and Balmorra and my personal allegiance drifting darker and darker. The strength and perseverance of Mandalore bred into my veins, I found that my allegiances varied wildly, and any enemy that proved themselves a worthy opponent also proved themselves a worthy ally. Mythos was one of these, plus Artisia had a lot of resources I could exploit when it came time to reverse engineering my prize.

Stardust was a different matter. A Mercenary and a Twi'Lek woman. The reason they were here was because the ship that had been located was deep in the undercity of Taris, an area well known for its Rakghouls. The deadly creatures were a handful in small numbers and a death sentence in a swarm, even for a Dark Jedi Master, but perhaps three masters wouldn't have such worry about the beasts. "Follow me." I told the four Mandalorians walking behind me. My compatriots in this would recognize the two armored warriors as Force Sensitive, armed with beskar shields, lightsabers, beskads, and a number of other weapons. The other two were simply Mandalorian warriors I had picked to come with us because of their expertise in engineering and mechanics. I wanted them to secure datascans and technical readouts of the ship while we protected them.

I sensed the two powerful Force Users with ease, no doubt they could sense me as well. "Good afternoon, Lord Mythos, Stardust." I said nodding to each of them respectfully. "Glad you could both make it. I hope you both packed Rakghoul Vaccine, last time I was here the place we are going was crawling with the things."

[member="Lord Mythos"]

She stayed looking the other way as [member="Lord Mythos"] approached her and smiled lightly "not yet....however I can feel he'll be here soon" she said and turned to him with a smile

Indeed true that had almost crossed blades when he rescued the trando king....somethimg she wouldnt forgive however someyhimg she wouldnt dwell on either"she could feel something wrong...like mythos was uneasy, however she just shrugged it off

Next she felt another presence, more like several as a ship touch down and wasted no time letting its people off, she turned and smiled"in fact I think your just in time mythos*she said as she stood and bowed when [member="Draco Vereen"] did"I've got several...can never be to sure what might happen

Mythos nodded in respect and silently listened to the dragon speak, listening intently to his instructions and striking an eyebrow up once he mention vaccines and rakghouls. Mythos shrugged, secrecy and careful planning had done away with any and all preparations he could have made for this particular mission. "Can't say that i have dragon, yet i don't see how they could possibly be a nuisance." He added with a smile and an overconfident tone, Mythos had decided to call the mandalorian dragon from now on, a title of respect and admiration not given.... but earned.

Mythos only respected one thing; a warriors' prowess. The dragon had shown him that and much more, becoming those in Mythos' personal list of great and powerful warriors, thus earning his rather childish admiration. The Twi'lek would earn the same, however the degree in which the mandalorian had earned it was.... unorthodox at least, other than his master Ophidia and Ferus no one had put Mythos in a position where defeat was so close and tangible he could almost taste it.... Mythos chuckled at the memory...

His eyes traced around the seemingly unimpressive compound and the mandalorians who flanked the dragon. His grin only got more sincere when he remembered that possibly he had killed some of their brethren. Ironic...

His axe his the floor from his belt and he tilted his neck flashing his eyes around the gathered. "Well then let's get moving, i have some new stuff i have to show you" He said never parting his eyes from the dragon. If he could impress the dragon with his new found powers he did not have during their last encounter, he could scratch this day as a win,as for the Rakghouls, he wasn't worried.

[member="Draco Vereen"] [member="stardust"]

"Alright. Lets get moving. We have to go by foot for the most part and cut through the undercity out in the wilds. Best to stick in a group and make use of silencers so as not to attract to much attention." Even then a few Rakghouls screeching and shrieking could bring a few dozen, or worse a few hundred, out of the wood work, and then it was run or die, even for the bravest and greatest warriors. They didn't need to worry themselves with Nekghouls just yet though. They would see them once we got where we were going. Part of me wanted to see the surprise on their faces when a monstrous, slobbering beast showed them its command over the Force. The ones I had fought in the past had held there own against myself when I was a Knight, a fellow Mandalorian Knight, and a Telekinetic Master for some time.

The trip we had to take to get to the undercity was easy, but once at its edges it was all foot slogging through pipes, broken parts of the city, and ancient ruins. And the ever present danger of Rakghouls and other local fauna on the planet. Seeing as we knew where the ship was, the easiest course of action was to find a road or path towards it, and follow that as closely as possible without attracting predators. "If you encounter a Rakghoul, kill it at range if you can. Up close their claws, teeth, spit, and blood are all infectious. Even vaccinated you could become a carrier... and well, no one wants a plague, and the vaccine normally only works for a day or two."

Elgyn relaxed tapping on a stolen datapad on the moldy couch. He had salvaged from the desolate wreckage of the Undercity, it had a distinct smell of must and age like the rest of the small warehouse he had claimed as his new abode. Rudimentary light fixtures were strung about illuminating around him what the small fire pit in front of him could not. The sithly shi’ido needed a base of operations far away from the limelight and this small housing would complement his shill corporation. He had some unfortunately violent encounter with some of the native creatures as he was clearing the compound. They were a form of sithspawn but Elgyn couldn't really identify what they were; be if from a lack of knowledge or just not really caring.

“Edward, don't push Bella away. She loves you...” Elgyn sighed in a whimper when his ears caught the sound of foot fall.

Releasing a grunt as he sat up. and making a muttering of annoyance he dragged a black bag too his feet by it shoulder strap and plunged his free hand into it as he began rustling around it’s content searching for an item by his sense of touch. “Kanye West...now that's a real rap-ghoul.” he muttered a little louder before revealing a thermal detonator from the munitions bag. With a click and a toss the explosive smashed through the southern window pane and flying several dozen meters away from the warehouse. Before the large explosion could take place; Elgyn was back to reading and though the entire compound shook he was determined to finish this novel.

She nodded as she attached a silencer to her weapon"right....if need be I guess my force powers shall come into use"she said as she followed them and looked around making sure her HUD would make use of tracking any movement that was in her perphilal vision as she steadied her breathing, she had encountered rakghouls before....yea they weren't anything good especially when you release them

She looked around more as she stepped the the water and moved away from broken pipes and the such "Roger that...I wonder if they-" she was interrupted as she heard a sound followed by a dink then a boom as she quickly got in front as she kept the fire away but a few rocks and such pingwd off her"

Mythos nodded and followed instructions even if he was disappointed in the fact that he could't just go in axe brandished and quench his blood-thirst for today with the corpses of rakgouls or whatever else could be down in the ancient ruins. Mythos held the axe from it's hilt and placed it's non edged side in his shoulder as he paced down quietly behind the dragon careful not to make a single rock tumble from his boots or a loud enough word that would echo through the walls.

Mythos began his training in the Sith as part of the Assassins, stealth and silence were supposed to be his premier trademarks, he quickly dismissed them as he found that the love for open battlefields and rabid charges in the enemy lines brought him much more satisfaction in the end. Mythos felt an unusual tension in the force with every step he took, it was an uneasy feeling of being watched mixed with a dense corruption in the dark side of the force...

"What's down here Dragon? I feel death cling to the walls" Mythos said, his tone of voice soft enough for only their company to catch. "Why is the area not properly cleared of infestations like this? We have the troopers to do it..." Mythos' eyes flashed with yellow light for a small second before he added. "What am i missing?" He said finally, he could careless about vaccines and monsters, but lack of information was something he did not let pass by.

I smiled from behind the visor of the helmet. “You are willing to risk an army only to have it swell their ranks?” I asked quietly. The Rakghoul virus had survived millennia of extermination attempts because the monsters were so dangerous. Every time a large enough force would try it was only to miss a few, to have a number of warriors fall and turn, and repeat the process over and over again. “The only way to cleanse this place is to bombard the planet to death, down to the mantle of the earth. Until someone does that, there will always be an infestation.

Cold simple truth, with Rakghouls, there was never any winning. Just temporary victories to achieve objectives for short periods of time. “The battleship is swarming. Death clings to this place because I lost two hundred men in here. Either by death or by turning. And I was not the only one to lose men in this place. There have been many. That is why we are small in number for this mission. Better to risk a few powerful warriors than an army of trained soldiers.” Our kill ratios would be higher that way. More dead rakghouls, less to risk turning.

I shouldered the silenced rifle and snapped off three rounds into a rakghoul, watching the beast take the rounds in the head and spin to the ground. “We stay quiet and we might stay alive. Too much noise and we have to run for it.

((OOC: Sorry. I am a bit rusty, guys.))

Datapad still in hand, Elgyn was stirred by the ringing of a food heating module causing the currently blond shi’ido to leap to his feet with excitement.“Munch time is crunch time!” Elgyn announced loudly at the sound of the small bell. Oddly enough the pavlovian reaction saw the datapad fly through the same shattered hole as the detonator before. He practically skated across the muck covered durasteel as he retrieved his reward of delightful sustenance. The torn remains of a random brand of noodle cup wrapper gave way to his intended meal coupled the amount of Rakriran Burnout sauce he was mixing into the cup made it obvious how he enjoyed the meal. Before he could notice he had not packed eating utensils the makeshift lighting fixtures dimmed and flicked before dying completely. Sipping the cup he grumbled as he made his way to the doorless stairway. He would need to give that generator another swift kick. While he could easily skin shift his eyes to take in more light power was still needed to run the other mechanisms placed about.

Taking another sip Elgyn stepped out to the top of the roof where the true stink of the Undercity mixed with the scent of his food. He didn't have to go far to reach the generator. The lazy DarK lord had not take the time to even secure the power cords to the wall. Instead he had simply rolled the power cord out and stretched it across the dusted and rusted durecreet flooring. Elgyn apparently not worried about potential fire hazards. But with a few kick with the side of his foot he proved that the third time was a charm as he hear the machine bloom to life. Victorious Elgyn put his free hand to his waist and turned around the view the surroundings like some apocalyptic king. His was the third largest surrounding structure standing at six stories tall and four deep; he intended to repurpose some of the other structures around. With another sip and a slurp of noodles Elgyn could feel the force tickle in the back of his mind.

Perhaps this location wasn't as far away from sentient traffic as he had hoped.

Mythos silently listened to the dragon pacing behind him and the new crew as he silently thought of the implications of what had just been said. "That is regrettable" Mythos said lifting his hand as a beast came close to him, rushing his figure from the darkness as he felt the beast coming. The beast stopped in it's tracks as a telekinetic net wrapped itself around the unfortunate creature, Mythos clenched his fist cracking the bones inside his previously shattered right hand and the creature was smashed in the force crush, it's mangled corpse hitting the floor like a sack of black goo.

As the dragon let off suppressed rounds into a beast Mythos paced behind him calmly, eyes scanning the shadows and the darkness of the walls like a computer, analyzing and measuring possible scenarios with every step. "You remember on naboo? Shortly after we disengaged" He used that word knowing the truth was he ran, yet his pride would never let him admit that. "I remember the gungan hordes cried out in fear, thousands of them"

Mythos was interrupted by yet another beast, this one much more stealthy and intelligent by the look of his attack,as Mythos only noticed his advance when he was only a few feet in distance. Effortlessly Mythos pulled the axe from his back and took a step back angling the axe behind him as the creature charged forward. With one foot in a rather large stone he spun on a dime at incredible speed, letting the momentum of the spin rather than the strength of his arms decapitate the beast in a swift yet elegant spin.

Not missing a beat Mythos was back on the shadow of the dragon, pacing calmly this time with the axe in hand ready for another monster to engage at any time. "I never seen or felt something quite like that..." Mythos said remembering back to the moment yet not breaking his focus on the task at hand. "How did you do that? affect such a large area of soldiers i mean, there were easily over four thousand organics there, you affected all of them, some would think that feat impossible"

His tone underlined the fact he had tried to explain it to others and was shrugged off as simply having imagined it, that no one could possibly have such power, yet Mythos knew the truth having been there personally.

I snapped off three more rounds taking another Rakghoul down around the battleship we were seeking. Inside I could feel hundred, possibly more, but it was a large ship and we were after only one thing on it. Perhaps we could get in and find it without drawing the whole horde.

I let Mythos take the lead. Conservation was key for me here. There was little I could do to a mass of Sith Spawn all at once. There were no emotions to exploit, only instinct and hunger. The need to kill more. I couldn’t work with that in their minds, but I wasn’t without abilities, they were just all rather exhausting.

Fear is the mind killer. It feeds me, drives me onward. Battle is naturally terrifying, it takes a strong will to suppress it from the mind. It takes only a light shove to drive your average soldier’s will to fight from their minds.” Most of your average soldiers were afraid when they were preparing for a battle anyway, using training and adrenaline to drive through it. It was not impossible to clench them in fear.

There is something else here. Like you.” I said, sensing something darker, more sentient than the rest nearby. “Did you bring any friends along?” I asked quietly. If not, that could be a problem. Nekghoul, Sith Lord, Sithspawn the size of a house. All of those were very, very bad when trying to remain quiet and stealthy.

"That's a negative dragon, i came here alone..." Mythos walked along the darkness of the deep descent while he listened to the dragon speak about the ability he had asked about. Some would think this a very bad time for conversation yet Mythos did not think there would be many other chances to learn even from word of mouth from the dragon,so he took the chance.

Mythos closed his eyes and activated his eyes of the force and scanned around the battleship for anything out of the ordinary. When he saw the figures and force signatures about the area he lifted his finger high and to the right to where a rather large signature of the force could be seen. "There"

Just like that the signature moved and bolted forward. "Force user, let us just hope he or she is first and foremost, not stupid." Mythos opened his eyes and greeted the sight of a charging rakghoul with the edge of his axe in an uppercut motion splitting the charging beast in half spinning around and roundhouse kicking the two halves before moving forward.

"And second, friendly" He said with a smile, the thought of a rouge jedi or un-designated force user running amok in a sensitive area like this was enough to put the worry in even the most seasoned warrior. Yet Mythos secretly wanted a real challenge, a wave of enemies to tear apart side by side with the dragon, it wasn't ideal... yet no on could ever blame Mythos for taking the easy way of anything even if there was no reason to take the hard way.

"If he's not with you and he's not with me.... i don't think we can assume it's friendly" Mythos said, a slight curve of enthusiasm in his smile and an eagerness to identify a common target to eliminate together. "You remember how you called me through the very fields of Naboo?" Mythos asked, again bringing back the memory of the epic battle."Maybe you can communicate with our rouge force user the same way?" Yet another purposely built sentence to learn the nature of abilities yet also to help with the mission.

Elgyn wasn't hasty, when it came to tracking down the pulse that he felt in the Force. Instead, he simply tapped his foot. He was lost in some minor thought about what beings had come forth from his encasement over the centuries. But right now the ascertainment of resources and a number of safe house would be his highest priority, however, with all of the changes the Sith as a force had been through Elgyn would need to be mindful. Taking a great gluttonous gulp of the bow and two long steps forward he vaulted over the edge of the ware house and with a subtle CRUNCH landed with his knee bent.

"Figures..." he mumbled looking down at his left knee and the crushed datapad under it. Sighing at the electronic corpse Elgyn fanned his forearm and hand outward and with his fingers spread he gave a telekinetic tug and a dark red leather mask fluttered to his palm.

"I can try Telepathy on him. Give me a moment." I said, responding to the Sith Lord's suggestion. Telepathy wasn't difficult, it just tipped my quarry off to my presence if they were not already aware, and could help them pin point my location unless I focused on expanding and fading my presence into the area around me. Given our location, I could, but it would be disruptive.

"You four. Get to the prow of the ship asap. Get the schematics we are here for while Lord Mythos and I distract the Rakghouls." The mandalorians nodded and jump packed upwards into the ruins of a skyscrapper and began making their way to the prow of the ship. They would maneuver quickly using their jump packs to evade the rakghouls and make themselves scarce among the ruins of the ship. Scanning gear with them they had only to get to the weapon's location to make an analysis of the weapon system.

For me, a display of power was in order. Instead of Telepathy a storm of lightning was sent crackling into a small group of rakghouls prowling us, watching us as we stood around their hunting grounds. <Are you planning on coming out anytime soon> crackled through the Force resounding in the minds of the Force Sensitives in the area. No doubt more than just our lone observer.

His weapon harness pulled tightly to toso; in a world of no allies there are only enemies. Elgyn could taste the most of the fine leather covering as he stalked quickly to the north.Wearing a mask was an ironic concept for a Shi’ido. It was almost a contradiction that he, a member of the skin shifting species, would have a need to cover his face when he could just take on a new facial form. His reasons were as complicated as the Darkside.

“So there you are.”

Elgyn grinned as he slowed his pace to a brisk crouching walk. He could see the pulse of four jetpacks rising near the skyscraper ruins causing him to quicken his pace. He would need to determine if they were prey or not. It was then he felt the ringing of a voice in his mind echoing through the Force. Being around the Dragon was a lot like being in the presence of his master Ophidia, in the sense that if Mythos had a datapad present he would be currently taking notes. Simplistic beyond belief Mythos was hard pressed to communicate via telepathy, yet when Draco did it he made it look so easy. Mythos chuckled at the thought but was quickly silenced as storm lightning eradicated the rakghouls around him, the act gave Mythos a serious expression on his face. Displays of power of the kind were rare, one with that kind of power was even rarer.

Mythos raised his eyebrow and mentally thought it was his turn. His hands let go his axe as telekinetic energy lifted his lightsabers and the rudis from his belt and ignited them while they floated. The sith lord closed his eyes and focused on every individual weapon under his control, each one moving independently and surrounding Mythos like circle of weapons.

He walked straight into the rakghouls without moving his arms, the weapons spinning around him decimating anything that got close. The axe was much harder to control as it needed kinetic movement to do damage while lightsabers could graze and still be effective. One rakgoul down, then another and another, every one of the beasts that charged was met by a wall of plasma and alchemized metal. Mythos called this technique the dance of blades and doubted he was the first to use it in the history of the one sith. The concentration needed to individually manipulate each weapon was so great Mythos was literally incapable of doing anything else, he could not think of Draco,or anyone else in that planet for that matter...his mind was solely on his weapons and we was not planning on stopping... He kept walking deeper into the rakghoul pit, obliterating anything that got close.

[member="Draco Vereen"] [member="Chaos"] @Stardust

Good, lots of Rakghouls heard the pair now. There was no more hiding, dodging, being quiet for them, only dealing with a small horde of Rakghouls in the depths of the Taris Undercity. "Be ready to run around a lot. Tear them up from a distance, fighting retreat and kite them as best you can, and stick close to each other." Simple advice for a situation like this. If they were allowed to swarm the pair, regardless of their powers of the Force they would be injured, and while Draco trusted the vaccine for the virus he had injected himself with, he didn't trust it completely. He wasn't willing to walk around without armor just because of it.

Charric blasts resounded from his wrist as he shot at Rakghouls and sent bolts of red, crackling lightning at them from his fingertips as they appeared from what felt like every nook and cranny of the area, all bloodthirsty, all uncontrolled monsters over four thousand years in the making. Draining them of their life essence was the easiest way to kill them and maintain his stamina. He needed to be in this for the long haul, not just a few quick displays. <All Three. I have business, and killing Rakghouls by the scores is always pretty fun.>

The four Mandalorian warriors moved throughout the prow of the ship, having crashed nose up, the prow was the top, leaning against massive pipes that used to be water and drain pipes from the upper city. They rummaged around through the machine seeking their target, and they found it. It was hard to miss the old device, even given its nature. A weapon of this size was difficult to be deceptive from a trained eye, to remain obscured from notice.

"Hurry with the scans, we need those schematics. The longer it takes the more likely it is that the Drahr'buir is unable to hold out." The warrior doubted that the Drahr'buir would leave them here, but he knew the man would not be dragged down by Rakghouls either. Meant that the most likely situation was him retreating to a rally point to wait for them.

The other two warriors, trained engineers began using their complex scanning equipment to take a full spectrum scan of the weapon system, waiting and taking several of the scans to be safe. "Alright we have them."
