Description:
Designed to operate independently in a wide range of environments, the Ogre II Mining Droid's joints are covered in a Durasteel-mesh cloth and insulated inside a layer of thick, sticky, dark red fluid pressurized to withstand falling rocks, the pressure of deep oceans, and other hazards that the droid could encounter. The droid's torso and head are protected by a solid Durasteel frame and a secondary Durasteel cage. Multiple sensor systems and optical units adorn the Ogre's head and a tank on its back stores emergency reserves of the pressurized fluid that lines its suit.

These droids often work long hours alone in dark tunnels and can go years between memory wipes. Due to the combination of these two conditions, Ogre II Mining Droids tend to develop a wide range of quirks to their programming. The Ogre II can become very attached to small animals and children that it may encounter, often to the point of becoming aggressive should the child or animal be taken away from it. Ogre II's that have been left unattended in a mine have been known to become territorial of its work environment, though this never seems to inhibit its productivity.

When attended by an overseer, Ogre II's are very reliable droids that have no problems following orders related directly to mining and general industrial work. Specific instructions, such as to search for a specific item or mineral, are no problem for this simple-minded droid. Repeatedly confusing the droid with complex instructions or forcing it to deal with non-labor tasks can result in the rapid development of one or more personality quirks. Mandal Hypernautics user manuals advise owners to perform regular memory wipes as part of their advised monthly maintenance of the droid. Failure to do so voids the warranty on the droid and frees Mandal Hypernautics of any possible litigations due to the actions of a poorly maintained droid.
