The sorcerer assimilated numbers. In his townhouse on Bastion, Vereshin connected a geometric chart over a sheet of alchemy stained parchment across the length of his desk. A large, silver twinkled on his ring and candles reflected in the surface of his glasses. Black and grey stripes ran up and down the walls and the scratch of his pen drifted listlessly over the city outside. The young Acolyte waited patiently while he softly chanted the equations in verbal form. Ink rolled beneath his pen as the candles flickered dully in the shadows, the tail of his cat softly brushing his bare ankle. Runes connected with esoteric numbers and equated the identity an entity, which Vereshin paused to behold.

Extending a wrist, he gripped a silver handle and sipped a cup of ruby rooibos. He wore a dark shirt and suit pants beneath a black cardigan, his pallid feet left bare. He poured a full cup of tea and heavily swallowed the whole thing, the effect of liquid taking a toll. Rocks sat on each corner of the parchment and made it perfectly flat. Checking his equation, he completed the final line before flipping open a wooden box on the side of the paper. The incantation required an aspect of earth and an aspect of the netherworld. Vereshin plucked a black crystal and dropped it directly above the paper.

The crystal fell into the air and floated with his telekinetic hold. Applying a gentle force, he delicately compressed the matter until the surface became soft and transformed into a smoking liquid which fell and absorbed into the parchment, leaving no trace of black behind. While Imogen stood in the shadows by the door, Vereshin briefly departed into the adjoining bathroom and urinated discretely into a chamber pot, the ajar door failing to disguise the shrill noise. He returned to the study and poured the contents onto the parchment and watched it absorb into the material leaving nothing behind. All the while he sang the incantation nonchalantly, each syllable growing louder as time progressed.

"Come hither." He raised a hand and beckoned Imogen over as he delicately plucked the ends of the chart from his desk "The chart is imbued with an aspect of myself and an aspect of the netherworld, together they combine to create an entity bound to my essence alone." Vereshin stopped his song and spoke while he removed a chain a from around his neck baring a white crystal to place it around the neck of Imogen. "This will ward the entity away from you and prevent him from entering your body." The crystal contained a spell destroying dark matter, instantly repelling the demon away from the Acolyte.

"Now light the candles." Vereshin swiftly pointed to four, huge black candles sitting on each edge of the table. He snapped two fingers and brilliant indigo sparks danced over the tips. "Do you know how to cast electrity or fire?" Vereshin asked, remaining more than happy to teach Imogen if she could not cast lightning. The technique was very simple and required little time.
