SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Combat: Unable to effectively regenerate itself while in combat, rendering the regenerative capabilities moot until it is outside of combat.

DESCRIPTION
The Nova-type enhanced radiation shield is a bit of a misnomer, what it is - is an ion shield with a massive buff to absorb radiation. Still, the shield was developed to deal with extreme amounts of radiation. To help with this, the shield was built with a resilient shield generator. This shield generator enables the shield to absorb more radiation, thermal and ion type energy. However, this is at the expense of plasma and other types of energy most especially kinetic.

The regenerative aspect of the shield is able to regenerate a small portion of the shield and is best done out of combat. In combat the regenerative aspect is less effective. The more hits the shield takes the less it is able to regenerate itself. Energy absorb by the shield is sent to capacitors to later be converted or dumped back into the shield generator itself.

Very deceptive naming, but very well done.

Cost effective way to allow the shield to work off of the energy it has absorbed, however, how much energy can it absorb? More correctly, is there a limit to how much energy this shield can absorb before it becomes damaged/Shut's down/etc?

What is the limiting factor on why the shield cannot regenerate power when in combat over that of just entering a hostile atmosphere?

It's in combat, taking hits, thus unable to actually regenerate itself when constantly under fire. Presumably not taking direct hits, and as far as hostile atmosphere? That's subjective, so I'll need a little more clarification from you; if it's an atmosphere full of enemies - probably wouldn't be taking shelter there. If its hostile by just the environment then yes perhaps taking refuge there may help but again subjective. So if you could please clarify?

As for the first part, it can absorb an extreme amount of radiation as per the rating and has a vulnerability to kinetic and can be brought down by said weapons should it enter combat.**
