NOTICE OF ALTERATION

This forum will be overhauled. Like seriously revamped. There'll be a "Ash isn't doing anything" period, a "This is a total mess period", a "Things are looking different" period, and a "Wow it's done!" period. At least that's how it usually goes. I'll use this thread to same existing threads' important info for later use.

Thanks!

Since some members of the Knights may find themselves unsure of what exactly to train in on their path to greater mastery, this list has been compiled as a guide to give a foundation of learning.

Basic Training
This is the list of powers found in the thread "The Path to Knighthood". Every Knight Obsidian should know these powers, as they are the foundation work for further training.
  • Control Pain
  • Create Light
  • Force Barrier
  • Force Heal
  • Force Jump
  • Force Speed
  • Lightsaber Combat
  • Telekinesis (Force Pull, Force Push, Levitation, and Force Grip/Throw.)
  • Telepathy
  • Sense Force
  • Sense Force Disturbance
  • Sense Life

Power Listing
The rest of these powers are in no specific order, but are listed to aid in figuring out "what to learn next".
  • Force Reflex
  • Force Body.
  • Sever Force
  • Force Rage and/or Battlemind
  • Force Weapon
  • Protection Bubble
  • Cure Disease
  • Cure Poison
  • Revitalize
  • Force Concealment
  • Drain Knowledge
  • Mind Barrier
  • Force Track
  • Mind Trick

Some examples are below for discussion and expansion:

Core Force Powers

Based on a well-balanced Jedi who spends their time studying all aspects equally.

Telekinesis
  • A new Knight could throw one to a few people to the ground with the Force.
  • An experienced Knight would be able to hold someone in the air and then have the skills to crush their throat with the Force.
  • A Master can lift and hurl huge objects, or manipulate the inner working of a tiny device.
Lightning
  • A new Knight has no ability to use Force Lightning
  • An experienced Knight could throw a few sparks that could potentially incapacitate someone for a few moments.
  • A Master can control sustained and lethal bursts of lightning
Foresight
  • A new Knight has a vague sense of danger through foresight.
  • An experienced Knight can not only discern the source and nature of danger about to happen, but can get a vague sense of important events in the future.
  • A Master has a much stronger emotional connection to future events, and may even be able to understand events outside of the immediate future.
Mind reading
  • A new Knight can skim surface thoughts, particularly emotions from the untrained. With time they can pull out deeper thoughts and memories.
  • An experienced Knight can dig into people's thoughts more easily and attack the defences of a trained and strong willed mind.
  • A Master can break down the defences of a powerful Jedi given time.
Mind Tricks
  • A New Jedi Knight can conjure simple illusions and convince an untrained individual of an easily swallowed fact. With time they can more subtly alter perceptions and plant thoughts and feelings.
  • A experienced Knight is able to – in favourable circumstances - completely change someone's feelings or opinions on a matter. They can hide themselves from someone's perceptions.
  • A Master is able to utterly dominate the mind of a weak willed individual with time.
Sabers
  • A Knight is competent with a single saber. They can defend themselves from blaster bolts from several directions and deflect some bolts back at their attackers. Concerted fire from a whole squad of troopers could easily overwhelm their defences.
  • A experienced Knight can train with more advanced weaponry: light staffs, multiple sabers, whips. It would take a torrent of blaster fire to bring them down. A experienced Knight could hold off two Knights, but would need particular circumstance in their favour to defeat them.
  • A Master will have years of combat experience. They will be a master duellist able to hold their own against several Jedi at once.

Specialist Powers

These powers are likely only available to an experienced Knight, and must be learned from another Jedi or Holocron. They must come with significant training and with a detriment to other/core powers

(Illusions, Force Conceal, Absorb, etc)

Advanced Powers

These powers are likely only available to experienced Master. They require a huge amount of effort and training, and there may only be a few Force Users who can train these abilities.

(Force Blaster/other physical manifestations, Battle meditation, Tutanamis)

Exceptionally Rare Powers

These are powers that have appeared in canon in some form - likely D20 based material - but are not well defined, or are exceptionally rare on the board.

(White Current, Phase, Shatterpoint, Force Storm, Force Cloak)

A sect of warriors who combine the Force and technology, dedicated to protect the freedom of the Abrion Corporate Alliance
Strike Swiftly From The Shadows...

Ufxdri9.png

The Obsidian Order is the division of the Abrion Corporate Alliance that focuses and hones those Force Users who are sensitive to the Force. While not all of the Order are dedicated to its studies and practises, all Force Users in the ACA are a member of it. They:

  • Provide an alternative to traditional Jedi or Sith

  • Value individualism - supportive of new members as they follow their path
  • Blend state-of-the-art technology with use of the Force
  • Each collect and modifies a unique arsenal
  • Include a group dedicated to espionage
The intent behind the Obsidian Order is to give those who choose neither Jedi or Sith and instead wish to place themselves in a neutral party which views the Force as a tool for use as one would use a weapon or a rope. An enhancement to one’s arsenal. Within the Order, there is no perception of inherent Good or Evil in the Force. The Force is a living, flowing entity whose existence is aligned with no one. It is the hearts and souls of the User that determines light or dark. As such, one may encounter all sorts of individuals within the Order. Light, Dark, neither, both, all are welcome and accepted so long as a unity is retained. Personal freedom is valued highly being a part of the Abrion Corporate Alliance, and with such ties comes a number of perks. Advantages ranging from state-of-the-art equipment to a healthy income back the Order and keep its interests from faltering.

At the heart of the Obsidian Order is the idea that the best a man, woman, or anything else may become the best that they can be through the perfect blend of skill, technology, and the Force. With the correct combination built around the individual, a member of the Obsidian Order is capable of incredible and great acts. Whether those acts be to help or hinder, create or destroy, bless or condemn, is all left to the individual; and while honing the individual is a key focus within the Order, the Obsidians work best when united together. Be it on a battlefield, in a knowledge centre, or even developing the next balance of Force and technology, the unity shown within the Obsidian Order rivals even the brotherhood of the Jedi Order(s).

Hopefully this synopsis has grasped your attention. If you are a newcomer to the Force or an experienced User who has been scorned or merely felt that you didn’t belong where you were, perhaps the Obsidian Order is what you seek. Even if you do not seek membership, the Order offers sanctuary to those Wanderers in the Galaxy.

...Strong Alone, Stronger Together...

The Obsidian Order is divided into three Networks (or Nets), based upon the specialisation of the Member. The archetypes are Warriors, Scholars, and Spies. Each Network is represented by a mighty beast as listed below. When referred to in conversation, they are often called “Net Bha’lir” or “Net Taozin”.

Bha’lir Network: The proudest of the three, Net Bha’lir maintains the highest standards of both physical and mystic combat capabilities. Their pride branches from their claim of being the ‘First House’ of the New Order. Stemmed with a warrior’s mentality and accented by their combat prowess, few of the other Networks could match their arrogance and strength. Rightfully so they have little in common with the rest of the Houses and, being perhaps the strongest, it is of no doubt they come at odds with the other Networks the most of the other two.

Zillo Network: Adaptive and progressive in nature, Net Zillo values knowledge and seeks deeper understanding of the Force. Perhaps such is the reason out of all the other Networks, Zillo is the least likely to see eye to eye with Bha’lir, causing several rivalries to emerge from both of them. Often studying and learning, they are by far not the weakest when compared in combat ability. Innovative unlike the other Networks, and quickest of thinkers, this Network contains brilliant strategists. Always several steps ahead of their opponents, they are rarely caught off guard. “Don’t call them bookworms”.

Taozin Network: Shrouded within their own clouds of mystery and deceit, Net Taozin are the elite espionage agents and maintain the largest spy network infrastructure this Order has ever seen -- or rather have not seen. Information collectors would be their practical names and assassin’s their feared name, but they are among the true Shadow Knights of the Order. Masters of the arts of illusion, deceit, and concealment, it is of no surprise that they are the most lethal Knights. When the need to kill arises, they are merciless assassins of whom even the shadows fear. In recognition of their skill and weapons, many would call them “The Blade’s Shadow”.

...Use Every Weapon.

NETWORK DIRECTORS
Each House is governed by a single Leader, the Head of the Network. This Head is known as the Lord or Lady and their primary goal is the due diligence to their Network required to perform to the highest standards for the Order. Another responsibility of the Heads is to bring in new recruits to the Order. While there are no guarantees of Network Membership when a recruit is brought in, the Heads are likely to seek out recruits compatible with their Net. If the Head of the Net neglects their Net or is otherwise incapable of performing their duties, the Lord Commander shall appoint a new Head from any he feels capable of that Net.

The Lord or Lady Commander oversees all of the Nets and their Heads, watchful and present, ready to assure the survival and power of the Order. The Lord Commander is one who not just earned the respect of each Net but as well demands absolute authority over all three. Only with the agreement of all three Network Heads, and with a Majority Agreement of Knights, may the body of the Order demand for a new Lord or Lady Commander. This action would be performed only if the Heads of the Networks and the Order body felt that the Lord Commander is incapable or incompetent in performing his or her duties.

Reaching Knight
To reach the rank of Knight, we have laid out a series of sub-ranks or stepping stones, for you to follow. Please make a thread tracker topic, where you list out all of your topics, that you believe will contribute to reaching the rank of Knight and eventually Master.

Please contact post in that thread and tag your mentor, or the Knights Commander, when you believe you are ready to move up to the next sub-rank.

The exception to this is that for main ranks (Knight and Master) this will be decided by the faction and you will be informed when you are awarded these titles.

Please note, the sub-titles below are specific to this faction and not board wide.

Uninitiate (UNI)
Members of this starting rank, the lowliest of our sacred Order, have just begun their toilsome path in the Force. Once assigned an master, Uninitiates must update an in-depth biography and create a thread tracker. After completing a short introduction to the Obsidian Order in character and completing these steps, they progress to the next rank

Initiate (IN)
Initiates of the Obsidian Order have started to find their connection to the Force. The Obsidian Order gives its members freedom to choose whichever path they desire. At this rank you will be bestowed with a full lightsaber, usually constructed by your mentor. However, to progress from this rank the Initiate must complete a training thread with their mentor on basic Force abilities.

Acolyte (AC)
This modest title is for Jedi who have started to master the basics of the Force. The Obsidian Order expects all of its members to have a grounding in combat abilities, even if a different path is taken. The Acolyte must demonstrate this as part of significant effort in at least one IC thread.

Adept (AD)
This self-effacing appellation is achieved by members who are well on their way towards becoming a Knight. Members who hold this rank have already chosen which path they are to follow and have started to specialise in their training, but note that particularly specialist powers are likely attained further down the line. Adepts must work hard with their mentor and for the faction, displaying their abilities in either a Dominion or Invasion. Members will often build their own unique weapon at this stage. Progression to the next rank requires nomination and a vote among Faction Masters.

Jedi Knight (DJK)
Once promoted by the Faction, the member becomes a full Obsidian Knight and gains a measure of autonomy from their master to follow their own path.
