Not Yours

Kay-Larr

Kay didn't quite know how to handle that news. It was bizarre. But there was still work to do, slaves to free. And there was still the Jackals to deal with. Thraxis was still one of her biggest rivals.

As [member="Kaster Sane"] presumed to know what she was feeling and why, she propped herself up on an elbow. "That's not why. I don't think of you as a thug, no more so than another hunter that also sought to turn me in, but now protects me whenever we are in the same region together." She sighed. "I'm a widow, so I push everyone away. The work I do and the enemies that I gain would put everyone around me in danger. I already lost one husband to a powerful enemy because of my defiant nature. I don't want to go through it again. It just wouldn't be fair to those around me."

[member="Lady Kay"]

"Then you Lady Kay are selfish. To push others away because of a loss. It should be the choice of those who choose to be around you as to whether they regret the possible consequences.....Not yours! He wasn't trying to be rude to his guest, merely stating his opinion of the situation. " Do you think me a fool for being here...with you? For not just killing you on Kwenn? For merely liking your company?

Kay lay down on her back again as [member="Kaster Sane"] accused her of being selfish when she was merely trying to protect them. She furrowed her brows as she remained silent, thinking about what he had said. No one had put it into that kind of perspective before. At least they never expressed it. "I...I never thought about it that way. But couldn't I also be accused for being selfish for putting others into harm's way?"

As for why he kept her alive, she figured that the bounty was higher that way, so it was all for the credits. That was how it usually went anyways. "No....no you're not a fool. Though it sounds like I am. I'm just blinded by my missions too much, so I can't see the big picture."

He chuckled at her question before answering. "Do you hold a gun to their heads and make them be near you? " His tone sounding sleepy as he spoke. An almost happy smile finding his lips as he turned to her once more and asked.... [Color=ff0000] "And what is your mission Kay?" [/color ] Something about saying her name made him feel at peace for once in his life.

She shook her head. "No, no of course not. Most that help me do so because I pay them. It's their job, so I don't feel as bad if they are hurt."

As for his other question, she just stared at the ceiling. Her voice must carry that kind of tone that puts some to sleep. That was okay though. "My mission is to free people from slavery and oppression. No one should have to live that way. My husband died while trying to protect us from a Sith Lord that wanted him under his control. But we were too defiant for too long. So we paid the price for it."

He could sense her pain as she spoke and he didn't like it. Though he'd been the cause of so much pain and suffering it had always been just business.....Never personal. "The Sith are vile creatures, What happened to you is terrible but it still doesn't mean that you can push everyone else away because your scared for them Kay"

She frowned a little. Not so much at what [member="Kaster Sane"] was saying, but more so upon herself for the way she had been treating others all these years. It wasn't as though she had meant to hurt anyone. She was just trying to protect them. Kay kept her eyes on the ceiling as she spoke, "Maybe you're right Kaster. But anyone that does choose me would have to understand and respect that I'm no conquest to be had. Nor would I accept disloyalty. I already had one attempt to get a one night stand from me as he had done with so many others, but unlike them, I refused him. It may be snobbish, but I have a higher respect for myself than that."

"Now now Kay, don't go trying to get in my pants darlin.....I'm a classy guy" His playfully sarcastic tone came from over on the couch as he listened to her. He knew how she felt, But being himself he just had to joke. Though he did get a laugh at the fact that the beautiful [member="Lady Kay"] now lay in his bed less than a few feet from his spot on the couch.

Well at least his humour made this easier. She felt a little less of being attacked for her choices. Kay just smirked at [member="Kaster Sane"] and rolled over, tucking her arm underneath her head. "Oh you're classy alright. And so are your jokes." She closed her eyes, not sure if she was going to be able to fall asleep, or what her situation would be like when she wakes up.

"I'm practically royalty dea...." His words droning out into soft breathing as he slips off to sleep, Hoping that his guest doesn't kill him in his sleep. As his mind drifted listlessly through his dreams his body relaxed more and more until he began to snore softly.

Royalty indeed. She rolled her eyes a bit, even though they were closed, yawned and then drifted off to sleep as well. For the most part she slept well, but she did wake up a few times and had to keep reminding herself of where she was and why.

Finally Kay just woke up and couldn't go back to sleep, though she remained curled up in bed with her eyes closed. Her mind was just racing too much. She had work to do and plenty of it. Being a Senator brought with it a lot of responsibilities. And she couldn't accomplish those tasks while being trapped on a ship or stranded without a means of transport.

She needed some tea to help calm her down. So Kay sat up and slipped out of the bed, heading over to the door. Was it still locked? Only one way to find out.

The door to the quarters would slide open at her touch allowing her to exit the room and explore the ship while Kaster lay snoring on the couch. Soft groans escaping the man as his dreams once again turned to nightmarish scenes of horrible violence and terror. Soon he was tossing and turning, A nearby lamp falling victim to his thrashing legs.

It was a good surprise to find that the door was no longer locked. She went to her satchel and picked out her cup, tea leaves and kettle before making her way into the hallway. Kay had been in the kitchen before, so she had the general idea of where it was. As soon as she got there, she set her items down and filled her kettle with water.

Minutes later as she was taking her first sip of tea, she heard the lamp breaking. It caused her to jump and nearly spill her tea. She placed the cup on the counter and then made her way back to [member="Kaster Sane"] 's room in a hurried walk, only to find him having some kind of a nightmare. She's seen such behaviour before and knew to keep back, lest she be struck too. So she simply turned on the light.

"Wake up Kaster! Kaster, wake up! The prisoner has escaped!!!" A lie of course, but that should trigger him to wake up.
