Not Your Typical Noob

Khrelan Arke

Your Backstabbing Prince Charming
A frieghtor touched down on the Voss spaceport and Khrelan raked long thoughtful fingers through his hair. It was unkempt and mostly tangled into knots. Why? His last job had gone south, way south, and he didn't get the promised credits or anything really. He had to run because someone thought it would be a good idea to blab.

He'd played the wanted ad over and over again, giving it countless thoughts and he even dreamt about the karking thing once. "The Antarian Rangers want you!" It said. And they wanted pilots, young pilots like him. Young pilots with vibrant energy who breathed adrenaline and exhaled fire.

Are you ready for a new look at life?

Eh.

Ready to save the Galaxy?

Again, eh.

Short on credits?

He could check that one twice.

Looking to start a career with guaranteed benefits?

He could say so.

Khrelan pushed himself out of his seat, scrambled around his ship. His blaster was in his holster, he jammed his comm into his jacket pocket then unboarded his ship for the enlistment office. If he didn't like this? He'd simply desert, but he had a strong gut feeling piloting for these Rangers were nothing like TIE fighting for the First Order. He quickened with a renewed excitement.

Auditorium 2A, Ranger Headquarters, Voss

Within one of the auditoriums at Ranger Headquarters, Arisa stood on the stage with several Jedi Commanders and Ranger Officers, all there to provide their own little presentation to the potential recruits about benefits of signing up with Rangers, specifically the navy and starfighter corps. The presenters went through all the usual points about how the Silver fleets were the best and most advanced, how the Antarian Rangers offered great benefits and like. When it came time to make her presentation, she had something a little different to share. As she spoke, her voice would automatically be amplified through a tiny mic clipped around her ear.

She looked around all auditorium for a moment, taking in the faces of all the guests of the day, mostly young adults. For several moments, her eyes lingered directly on one man (Khrelan) until she shifted onto other faces.

"Good afternoon everyone, my name is Arisa Yune, Grandmaster of the Silver Order. In the role, I also act as the Supreme Commander of the Antarian Rangers, the group which you are here to learn about today. So far, you've heard from several speakers about what they find makes the Antarian Rangers so great. Now I would like to share my thoughts."

"I believe what makes the Antarian Rangers one of the best organizations out there is not our technological edge, or our meticulous training regimes, but our empathy. Unlike many militaries across the galaxy, Rangers are not treated as a simply a cog in a machine. I and other commanders care about each and everyone one of our subordinates dearly and plan our operations to limit you all to undue danger where possible. As commanders, we will never ask you do anything we aren't willing to do. In fact, it's not uncommon for us to be out there with you, leading the charge."

"Our care extends beyond the battlefield, making sure that each and every one has the time you need to rest and recuperate and be with the ones you love. As you have heard earlier, our benefits are unmatched in making sure you get what you need as individuals. Be it as patients, parents, entrepreneurs, etc. I recently had the pleasure of assisting one of our Sergeants, [member="Darren Torran"], in helping to establish his own manufacturing firm on Klatooine."

She provided a few more examples of some of the work the Silver Jedi with the Rangers in providing assistance, then brought her presentation to an end on that note, much shorter than her peers as she left the sharing of factoids and charts to them. There was a loud round of applause as the whole event finally came to its conclusion. Following the presentation, she would leave herself open to take personal questions from any of the attendees that joined her own stage.

Khrelan Arke

Your Backstabbing Prince Charming
After the event had reached its conclusions and the thunderous applause which lasted for at least a minute, the auditorium was filled with loud excited chatter and the silent shuffling of the ones who wanted to leave. Khrelan stayed in his seat for a long minute, then two, then three, observing the room with dark eyes and a contemplating look.

There was something odd about how [member="Arisa Yune"] stared at him, a connection of strange energy that had nothing to do with romantics form in that moment before she shifted her gaze to another. He rubbed his eyes, pressing thumbs against closed lids, feeling an impending headache already looming over him. He'd come into the auditorium late to hear one of the Jedi commanders booming through the auditorium about what good their starfighter corps was doing for the galaxy. But Khrelan didn't necessarily want to actively contribute in serving the galaxy, as that usually meant bad for him, but he needed the benefits and the credits and he was willing to at least give this a shot.

About half of the occupants had dissipated by now and he determined it empty enough to stand, making his way past an especially rowdy group of boys who almost hit him in the face (unintentionally) to the stage. He slipped past the crowds easily with agile limbs, seemed to glide as he walked somehow -it was how he disappeared so easily after all- and cleared his throat behind the Supreme Commander. By some will or fate, the person she was talkng to just thanked her and left.

"Hello," he put on his easy smile and stuck out a roughened hand, "What should I call you?"

There were several people that approached her for questions, even some giving her thanks for her past exploits. Many of the prospective candidates had been victims of the Sith and other belligerents and had been inspired to service by the actions of the Silver Jedi and Rangers in saving them.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed one fair haired man approaching (Khrelan) she had picked out from the crowds. The Force flowed strongly through him, she had felt it, which had caused her to linger on him. She had planned on pulling him aside after she left the hall, so it worked out perfectly that he had come to see her.

A few more others, then she was ready to entertain him next.

"Hello there!" she exclaimed as she shook hands with him. "For now, you may call me Arisa, but I imagine in the future you may be calling me boss in the future." A little joke at the end. "So, what should I call you, then? How are you liking it here so far?"
