Not Another Sparring Session

Sochi had made her way to the Combat Training Center. She had been wanting more practice in form II. She always exuded patience, and had a professional aura about her when it came to training. She wanted to be the Jedi that upheld the code at all times. Thus was her sudden thirst for training, to become better, and seek out more knowledge. Combat wasn't really her thing, but she nevertheless wanted to be proficient enough so that if the need arises, she was more than prepared. She entered into a private room, hopefully awaiting the arrival of another Jedi that she could spar with. She had made it public a few days before that she was in need of a sparring partner. She was always about business, and the task at hand, but she wasn't against getting to know others. It was hard for her to connect, as she was always quiet, and when she would speak it was only a few words at one time.

She went to the center of the room, and began to meditate while she waited the arrival of another. She sat down in a Indian position, back facing the door. Her eyes were closed, and she began to strengthen her connection to the force. Trying to enhance her focus for this upcoming event.

Training never hurt, to be truthful. Which was why Flint signed up for a practice duel against a fellow Jedi at the training center. Wearing his typical Jedi tunic along with a brown robe, Flint entered the room to see a Togruta female meditating. She would be his practice partner for the day. He didn't really know who the Jedi was, but Flint thought he recalled her being knighted fairly recently.

"I am sorry to interrupt you in your meditation..." Flint began speaking as he entered the room. "My name is Flint Dexen, nice to meet you. I believe you were looking for a sparring partner? he said, putting out his hand for a handshake. Both Jedi Knights would gain valuable experiences from practice sparring.

Sochi could sense the arrival one another. That and she heard the door opened. She was hoping that it was her sparring partner. She just couldn't wait to work. She slowly opened her eyes, and turned her head only slightly to so that she could see who it was that had entered. Seeing the silhouette of another, she turned her body along with her head this time. When she came around she had laid eyes on the one she hoped it would be. A subtle smile cut across her face.

Sochi stood up, and caught her lightsaber hilt in the process. She ran her hands along her robes, and long skirt. To straighten it out, and possibly get rid of any wrinkles that might have found a home there while she sat in meditation. She looked back up, and took a couple of steps towards the man. Wanting to show respect she bowed before him. Sochi had her hands in front of her, near her waist, interlocked.

"Oh don't worry, you weren't interrupting. It's nice to meet you Flint Dexen, I am Sochi Ru. I'm grateful for your participation today. I hope it wasn't much trouble attending, I could only imagine how busy you are." She said softly.

It appeared as though his fellow Jedi Knight wasn't exactly looking for a handshake. Withdrawing his outstretched hand, Flint returned the bow that he had recieved. Flint wasn't very much into formalities, but he did not want to appear to be rude. After all, all Jedi deserved some level of respect.

"You're welcome." Flint said with a nod of repsect to the other Jedi's statement. "I am always more than happy to help out. I've always got time to have a practice sparring session with my fellow Jedi." he said with a polite smile.

(I am so sorry about that! I completely overlooked that part :( )

She nodded, returning the wariness with her own smile. His personality was definitely one she hadnt any trouble being around. she had only met him and she felt like he would be someone she would continue to assosiate with long after this training session. she would only hope he would began to see her the same within time of course. She motioned over to the area where they would indeed draw their blades, "I'm assuming we should get right to it then? Hm?" She said walking slowly to the opposite side of the room. She was going to be practicing Form IV: Ataru, and probably practice Form V: Shien. She didn't wanna waste any more time, that would be viable for them both to learn and gain experience from.

She shot him another smile from where she was standing, "Im hoping you don't go easy on me," she said softly, trying her hand at some humor, though that really wasn't her thing.

"Certainly, lets do this." Flint said with a nod. He wasn't entirely sure what his sparring partner would utilize against him, but Flint knew he would simply going to use Soresu for defense and some Shii-Cho moves. Many considered Shii-Cho to be a training form, but it would be underestimating to assume that a Shii-Cho user was not deadly. He had Soresu and Shii-Cho to be the best combination of forms suited for his style.

He smirked slightly at Sochi's remarks about not going easy. "You won't have to worry about that." Flint replied with a grin. He walked over to the opposite side in the room, and activated his cyan blade. "Ready when you are, Sochi." he announced, positioning himself into a Soresu defense stance.

When she noticed his smirk, she was sure her attempt at humor had succeeded. It was sort of a relief in fact. Out of everyone she socialized with she was the only one with a subtle sense of humor. Hmm but that was a topic for another time. Upon seeing the activation of his blade she slowly bowed before him once more. She felt it necessary in any training situation to show respect before the fighting had begun. As she came up, it was almost simultaneous with his statement talking about him being ready when she was.

He was a Soresu practitioner from the stance he took, but she didn't assume that was the only form he would utilize of course. Nevertheless she ignited her lightsaber holding it in a balanced two-handed guard, vertically with both palms on the right side of her body. With a little time she began to utilize the force technique Force Channel. With the boost in her connection to the force hopefully she could sustain her force enhanced acrobatics a little longer than usual.

After feeling the force flowing through her body she enhanced her speed through the force, closing in on her opponent. When she closed in she launched herself in the air, performing an front flip, and came down with considerable force behind her attack. Expecting him to block it, she would hold her blade against his in a clash.

Flint, along with Sochi, deepened his ties to the Force for the time. He would not underestimate the female Jedi before him. It wasn't everyday that he got to practice dueling a fellow Jedi Knight, and he was going to take every advantage of the experience.

He tapped into the Force, the Force fueling him. Flint felt calm, reassured, and ready above all else. "Nice." he said with an approving voice as he raised his lightaber in defense against Sochi's downward strike. It was admirable how the female Jedi had used her agility to her advantage by adding power to her attack. Flint decided that he wouldn't be utilizing Force attacks in this duel, after all, they were here to practice lightsaber skills not show off each other's Force powers.

The male Jedi Knight was going on defense utilizing Soresu, minimizing energy needed to fend off each attack. For the time being, however, Flint was holding out in a direct clash against Sochi's lightsaber. He parried away the strike at one point, waiting for the Togruta Jedi to continue her attacks.

Her attack at least proved successful in the sense that it was performed correctly. Form was something she payed attention to as well. Her lightsaber clashed with Flints for a time, it seemed like forever but it only lasted till he parried it away. With her taking a step back from his maneuver she followed that through with a spin, that would bring her blade around her body and horizontally across his if it wasn't blocked. But knowing the form Soresu personally, she figured he wasn't going to let an attack such as that break through his defense. She had to plan ahead to which she began. She was aided by the the force, which sped up her attacks. The fatigue she would feel was inevitable, but hopefully before that she would land an attack; wasn't that how most Ataru user thought in combat.

Flint somewhat admired the spin that the Togruta had utilized in performing her next attack. Any Soresu-user, ofcourse, would not allow such a move to be successful. Pushing out his blade to meet the incoming attack, another clash of lightsabers reverberated across the room.

It was interesting to observe how Sochi was speeding up her attacks with the assistance of the Force. Even if the Force fueled her, there was no escaping of the fatigue that would eventually settle in. The question simply was of how long the Ataru combatant's stamina was. Flint parried away the clash again, trying to make sure that Sochi's blade was parried far away from him so that it would be hard to go in for a close range strike again. Instead, Flint would let his fellow Jedi Knight focus on more long-range attacks. After all, close range was often difficult against a skilled Soresu user.

Her blade was parried away, this time it had swung out further than before. She decided to use that to her advantage. Quickly opting out of using Shien as her second for she decided to bring in Shii-cho. The basic of all forms. Incorporating this form would indeed allow her to perform wide strikes, and sweeps; attacks she would need to be extremely close for. At least with this strategy she would be able to fight at a distance if this occurred again, where she wasn't lose enough to land an Ataru attack. She would never understand why most Jedi didn't realize how useful the most basic of the forms was.

Quickly switching forms for the time being, she regained her posture, and used the momentum from her blade being parried to flow right into a large sweeping attack that would come done diagonally across his body if it made contact. She was hoping to clash once again, so that she would be closer to switch out forms once more. She was trying to think ahead.

"Thinking ahead, I see.." Flint said with a grin as he shifted his lightsaber into almost an awkward angle to block the attack that Sochi had used against him, fueled by the momentum of his previous parry. Flint shifted his feet so that he could withstand the clash that followed. Once more, sounds of two lightsabers in contact rang out as he blocked the incoming diagonal strike. Perhaps it was time that Flint stepped up his game from defense to offense.

Sochi had shifted her form back to Shii-Cho. It seemed as though she had spent some time in developing each form. Flint parried off the clash once more, but instead of waiting for an attack with Soresu stance, Flint switched to Shii-Cho stance as well. He surged forward not giving Sochi much time to go in for another wide attack. It was not necessary to utilize Soresu against Shii-Cho, Shii-Cho against Shii-Cho would work fine, and would definitely be an interesting combat experience.

Flint went forward for a vertical strike at his opponent's legs quickly followed by a horizontal slash at Sochi's shoulders.

She smiled at his comment, it appeared along with his grin. Her blade came in quickly as they clashed. Flint was definitely good at defense, she could only imagine that he equally good in offense as well. She wasn't sure if she was going to get to see that side of him during this duel. Though it did seem inevitable that he would throw a counter at any moment. She had to prepare for that. Their blades separated once more, when she noticed that the distance did partially close she figured she had enough time to switch back to Ataru. She was proven wrong when Flint made his first move on her. She brought her blade up horizontally to block his attack. She was definetly surprised. Though she had thought about it she didn't think his attack would come this soon. Well that was combat.

Now it seemed as though he switched to a more offensive form. She didn't seem to be the only one switching forms. Then he moved again. This time striking at her twice; one vertical strike at her legs, and the other a horizontal strike at her shoulders. Sochi reacted quickly, she quickly twisted her wrist brought her lightsaber down to block her legs, and bat away his attack. His next attack came quicker than the first and she reacted once more. Bringing her blade back up, and holding it vertically pointing down at the ground, parallel to her shoulder. When his saber clashes, she held it there for acouple of seconds before batting it away. His attacks were quick, the latter especially.

After they disengaged, she quickly spinned around, lowering her body about waist level to his. She brought her lightsaber around quickly in one long sweep, striking horizontally at his stomach. Then she flowed right into her next attack, holding her blade in a reverse grip she brought her lightsaber up in a diagonal strike going from the ground and up across his body.
