No Rest for Durani (Open, Casino Heist)

Mayagil Sector
Outer Rim

There were larger casinos in the galaxy. Richer, fancier-

Hell, easier to GET TO.

But Durani's Rest had something the others didn't. Well, two things really.

First, it was away from planetary influences. No local law enforcement to show up and make a fuss and everything more difficult than it had to be. Sure there was private security, but that didn't have the same oomph. Not these anyway.

But second?

A readily accessible clear exit and way to zip right off into hyperspace once they were done. No atmosphere to go through, no running through the streets. Just in, hit hard, and out with all of the cashy-monies one could shove in their grubby pockets.

Sabetha deeply disliked hitting places that involved a lot of transit between point a and point b. If she couldn't bring her ship in directly, honestly kark the whole thing. Even better when it was a place like this that expected a lot of traffic in and out, and the freighter the pirate used would go unnoticed.

Just like with the raid of the Tython Pearl and the attack at Prakith, Sabetha reached out to her underworld contacts to round out the crew she'd bring with her. Oh, she knew about the bounty newly placed on her head- she was a little amused it had taken them so long to figure out who had orchestrated those two hits. But she wasn't duly fussed. They'd have to know where she was going and by the time someone heard about it? They'd be long gone.

She wasn't counting on someone tipping off a hunter they knew. She certainly wasn't counting on that hunter being a big-mouth.

And she absolutely wasn't counting on it becoming common knowledge exactly where she and her crew were going to be that day.

*****

The group of pirates blended in fairly well if she did say so herself. They looked more like mercenaries, which weren't that rare on Durani's Rest. They had managed to land in the docking bay closest to the Casino and when they swaggered in, it just looked like a group with money to burn after a particularly good mission or three. With the amount of upheaval in the core, there were a lot of groups just like them all around.

"You wanna do your thing and get the party started?" Sabetha leaned over and murmured with a smirk to Hira. "Give 'em a scare and then I'll get 'em organized."

OOC Thread

Myles was brought on a few days ago by the CEO of Durani's Rest Casino, in order to analyze their security protocols and to determine their risk level. As usual, Myles brought in his team of three (excluding himself) to run basic operations and to conduct surveys on the casino. Casinos were more of a mysterious woman to him, as he didn't get many casino jobs but when he did it was usually for good reason. The CEO was sure to hire Myles and his team while providing room & board along with some complimentary meals.

Their stay was rather routine and before too long they would be finished with their contract. A normal risk assessment job took 5-7 days, depending on key factors like the size of the structure/property, locales, etc. Myles had Raven Squad positioned throughout the casino. Isaac Hawkins was in the surveillance room to monitor cameras, biometric scanners and various comms equipment. Lukas Hale was inspecting the Armory/Security Depot to ensure casino security was as guarded as possible from potential risks. Leo Parker was somewhere on the main floor, people-watching. Leo preferred to be a 'gray man' and blend in with the environment. If anyone could detect threats in public, Leo would be a good contender.

All seemed well in the casino, and to be honest Myles wasn't sure what they would be fearful for. Certain factors would play out the duration of their stay that would make the grizzled veteran fully understand the situation that would come to pass. Myles radioed his men for a status report.

"Alright, Raven Squad. Gimme a sitrep"

"Hale reporting. Arms are good and security is nominal. Over"
Alright, that's good.

"Hawkins reporting. Scans are clean and everything looks clear boss. Over"
Excellent. Alright Parker, what do you have?

"Parker reporting. Guests are having a good time and I just danced with a beautiful woman"
Alright kid, knock it off. Blending in is good but come on.

Of course Myles would respond to each report acknowledging their hard work but sometimes his thoughts would interrupt his true response.

"Alright team, good work. Keep it up and we will be outta here in two days. Report when necessary. Out."

Myles walked back into the office of the CEO and informed him that everything was going according to plan. All that was left was to look over the casino's vault for security risks and potential breaching. They would review that in due time. The casino was pretty popular among spacers looking to burn some credits which may pose a different threat in it's own. A lot of traffic could provide decent cover for a heist team or potential pirates which made him feel uneasy. Despite things going so well, it made Myles itch to the bone thinking that something big would happen.

Hira Mitsae

Ain't No Rest For The Wicked
There was such a thing as being inconspicuous and flying below the radar.

Hira never got that.

Live hard, die never. She wasn't great at all the brainy plots Sabetha concocted so they could get rich. Too much thinking, plotting and scheming. Just give her a blaster and point her at a target. That was what she lived for. In the beginning that made for some tension between them. You never really knew if (when really) Hira would suddenly erupt into a parade of violence.

This wasn't the beginning anymore though.

They had been at it for a while now.

"Hmmm, I do enjoy that kind of theatrics." Hira murmured back. From the moment they had stepped into the casino, her eyes had darted back and forth. Localizing potential problems- security officers, droids with defensive protocols, turret hard-points. You had to have eyes on everything, if you didn't want a blaster shot in the back. "Alright... here... we... go."

At go Hira leaned in.

Cybernetic arms latched onto a security droid... and threw it through the bar, before her blaster reared up and shot a guard in the shoulder.

Warning shot. The only one they got... and even that had been tightly negotiated beforehand.

"Listen up, ladies and gentlemen!" Her voice amplified by another cybernetic implant. Very hand, that. "This is a robbery, but if you remain calm nobody has to cease existing just yet." She had gotten herself a dictionary a few months ago. Trying to freshen up on some fancy rhetoric after the last heist. Trying to explain to a Verpine they were getting robbed was really difficult, when you barely knew your way past 'hey', 'kark you' and 'get me a drink pronto' in your own language.

It was nice to try fancy tellings, while threatening people.

Almost made her feel part of high society.

"Credit chits and valuables in the bags being passed around. And please, do give me an opportunity to crack a skull. I haven't killed anyone in hours."

More like a week and a half, but who was counting?

Startorn followed in behind Sabetha and scanned the area, he had gotten a message that she was planning a heist and normally he would've gone in and collected the bounty on her but she had a crew and he didn't, so why not join them for a job? Easy money, he sat down at the bar and waited for things to go down

"My sincerest commiserations fellas, but it looks like old Lady Luck is tipping her hat to me tonight." The Corellian splayed a hand down on the table as he spoke, not even bothering to hide the smirk radiating out from the cigarra in his mouth at the collective groans and curses escaping the other players. The Idiot, the two of flasks and the three of sabers; an unbeatable hand to round off the evening's already solid streak of victories. Granted, most of them had been achieved with a little... creative work on his part, but that was beside the point. Everyone at the table was as crooked as the Tatooine day was long. It's what made victory so damn sweet. They couldn't risk calling him out without tipping their own hand. "Read'm and weep."

Oh, one of them actually did. Awkward. Nothing worse than seeing a grown Rodian cry.

"Well, I'lll... I'll take that as my cue to leave. As my pappy is want to say, always leave them wantin' more, eh?" A blatant lie, but not the first of the evening. Zef Halo was nowhere near articulate enough to produce anything worth quoting. Not that they needed to know that. Rising, he flicked a chip to the dealer with a wink. "I'll trust you to cash me out, darlin'. Galactic Standard's fine, but if you got any Rekali Wupiupi on hand, I'll take half and half."

Nothing like a bit of Mandalorian backing to keep a currency stable. The value of Galactic Standard was fluxuating as fast as Coruscant changed hands these days. He estimated that tidy little sum, some thousand or so credits, would fetch him a couple of days downtime in the lap of luxury. Longer if he didn't mind that lap being a little second hand. "Gentleman, I'd say it's been a pleasure, but I think we all know that it was solely mi---"

The form of a droid sailed past his head, whipping his hat almost off his head before he pressed it down with a free hand. The cigarra hanging haphazardly loose from the corner of his mouth as his gaze instantly tracked the source of the impromptu flight. Feth. So much for Lady Luck. Who the kark were these jokers when they were at home and why did they look so gosh darn familiar?

The cigarra flared. Once, twice. Three times before a thoughtful puff of smoke was exhaled slowly.

"Weeell, heeeell." Mav drawled lazily, his accent thickening as his hand brushed the edge of his long coat back behind the holster strapped to his hip. Making no move to draw the piece, merely letting the display stand as a statement. "Ain't this shapin' up to be a fine t'do."

Startorn spun in his seat so he was facing the crowds wondering what he wanted to do, sure he was technically here to rob but never signed a contract, heck, he didn't even ride with the crew, *not to late to get a bounty* he thought, he rested his hand on his gun and glanced at the Corellian, he had do give credit, them Corellians had guts, he decided to just wait to see what happens.

Myles wouldn't get too far in his thoughts before a potential security hazard popped into his sights...well not his, but a member of Raven Squad reported a violent outbreak on the casino floor. Hawkins viewed the data feed from the security cameras and sent the report in on open comms so everyone in Raven Squad could tap in.

"Don't hold your breath. We have a potential robbery in effect that threw a security droid clear across the room. Exercise extreme caution, as potential cybernetics may be the cause for such brute strength. I'll scour the HoloNet for identification."

The report made Myles jump up and head out to the main catwalk that many personnel would use to overlook the casino floor to ensure that guests were having a good time and to make sure that no one was cheating.
A barking of orders came from this particular individual who Myles would pinpoint as a leader or potential brawn of the operation. Surely this individual wouldn't come up here without backup?

"Keep your eyes peeled, there could be more. Parker, scout out potential threats and mark them. Hale, get your karkin' ass out here with security; the situation is evolving fast into a potential hostage scenario"

Holding his carbine at the ready, Myles leaned his body against the railing of the catwalk to give him more stability.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Lukas Hale slapped a fresh power cell into his Heavy Repeating Rifle before looking at the rest of the security personnel, almost taunting them.
"You gonna let a heist prevent you from doing your job? Get up you meatsacks and let's make sure no one gets killed"

That was the goal anyways. Hale left them behind due to impatience, and made his way to the casino floor but his path was blocked by several guests and partygoers who were stopped dead in their tracks. Shoving them aside, Lukas stepped more into the fray as casino security caught up to him and made their way forward, combing the casino floor.

Hale was within Myles' FOV so he could provide overwatch if need be. This would be a hairy situation and Myles treated it with utmost urgency.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Leo Parker was wearing formal attire, as to prevent him from looking like a private security contractor. It was part of his job to blend in so proper tests could be done. Leo was able to spot a few people who looked 'out of place'. An individual wearing beskar much like a Mandalorian would, could be spotted. There was a man who was done gambling that looked like a real straight-shooter, he couldn't tell if he was just a gunslinger or if he was in on the heist as well. Then there was a red-headed woman who for the most part, stayed out of sight but Leo almost knew better. He had seen her face before....somewhere, perhaps on a bounty board or something equivalent.

The team was in full view of Myles, except for Hawkins; who would stay in the surveillance center, providing eyes and ears for the operation.

"Got it! The individual barking orders is someone named [member="Hira Mitsae"] , who is a known accomplice to the many crimes of [member="Sabetha Tag"] . Sabetha has a bounty posting with the Bounty Hunter's Guild, so they are the real deal. This is the only information I have so far. I'll keep digging and I'll initiate the lockdown for the casino."

Myles nodded as if Hawkins could see him through the camera feed. So they are dealing with somewhat professional pirates. This will make for an interesting day but Myles didn't want any casualties. He flipped the firing settings on his Carbine to STUN. The bounty meant nothing to him, his job was to assess the casino for threats. They didn't necessarily hire him to protect it--only to tell them how to prepare for situations such as this. So either way, the feedback on his behalf wouldn't be negative. His company and standing would still retain their integrity and reputation.

Hawkins must have enabled the casino lockdown as various metal shutters slammed down on entry ways, preventing or at least barring escape and further breach--for now at least.

The room fell quiet as the pirate made her statement. The tension was palpable. Hesitation and a modicum of fear swept across the room as the eyes of the casino's patrons turned onto the cyborg that had disrupted their games. A blaster shot, a thrown droid -- were things really getting serious? Confusion and low chatter might've been caught by the keen-sensed ones in the room. Nothing happened for a few moments...

And then some madwoman cut the tension with a cackling laugh.

It was like that one crazy woman in the crowd of a laugh track for a sitcom. The one that would laugh at nearly anything, but the very exclamation seemed to allow everyone else to enjoy the moment, to relax, despite the unnerving laugh emanating from someone in the corner of the room someplace. It worked like a charm -- the various patrons of the casino seemed to relax, if only slightly, many joining in with the laughter. It was all a joke, a sham, a show, right? No one else would be foolish enough to actually try robbing the place.

Kelsie grinned as she finished laughing, easily meandering over to the pair of cuties playing pirate. She easily swung her arms around the pair's shoulders, pulling them into a friendly side-hug as the rest of the patrons began to go back to their games. "Ladies, ladies, you two need drinks. I'm buying. Let's go." And she began to guide them over towards the bar.

Of course, not all the patrons went back immediately -- the eyes of bounty hunters and undesirable types lingered, some vaguely remembering the profile of a bounty recently posted. That was what Kelsie found so hilarious; these amateur robbers attempting to take money from armed and armored low-lives, entirely ignoring the fact that their crew was tiny in comparison to the station's security detail and population. Moreover they didn't even target the actual dealers or find where the credits were stored on the station, they were content with taking pocket change from people who were already here to lose their money to the casino.

She plopped herself and her two new friends down at the bar and quickly ordered some Corellian Whiskey for the three of them, still with a slight grin on her face.

---

As Hawkins attempted to enable the casino lockdown, a blue face popped up on his screen.

<<"I'm afraid I can't do that.">>

Oh, Kelsie had come prepared. Missy was already eight steps ahead -- there would be no panic on Durani's Rest today.

Sabetha Tag. According to a bounty she was charged with piracy and had the Government of Prakith and Interstar Liners Limited on her tail. However despite the fact that a bounty had been issued against her , Maracel Yorkell and the Directorate had interest in the young pirate for a special operation in the Unknown Regions they had been planning for a long time and would allow such an operation to function more easily. So in order to recruit those Pirates , Maracel instructed James Cerensp to find these Pirates and contact them as a means to have them join the Directorate for a special mission.

When a robbery was reported at Durani’s Rest and it was discovered that Sabetha Tag was the culprit , Maracel immediately sent James Cerensp one of the best Agents within the DIA to recruit her and to make sure that the bounty on Sabetha’s head would be cleared without revealing his ties to the Directorate. As Cerensp’s ship the Eye of the Director neared Durani’s Rest , Cerensp ordered his ship to stay near the Station and on board a shuttle departed to the Space Station with 4 Directorate Supercommandos armed with Vibroblades and pistols and wearing Armor made out of Phrik and possessing personal Cloaking devices. As the Shuttle landed Cerensp ordered his men to activate their Cloaking devices and to head to a seperate corner of the Casino while Cerensp went to the bar largely avoiding Sabetha and sitting down to order a drink willing to evaluate on how the Directorate could use such a Pirate for it’s future operations and on his next course of action.

Startorn is not new to this kinda thing, and honestly he thought Sabetha was doing a pretty sloppy job, so unless she had some ace up her sleeve she wasn't gonna last long, he saw a man enter and sit at the bar just a few chairs away, something's not right, that's when things got weird.

He looked off to the side and could of sworn he saw the air look weird, like....cloaking? He turned on heat vision on his helmet and saw anomalies that shouldn't be there, they were different so in a way they stood out in the crowd, he turned it off but nothing was there, this could end badly, he figured they just came in and considering that the other man did to just maybe "wanna tell me what this guys in the corners are for?" He asked quietly as he sat down next to Cerencp hand on his gun, just in case.

After receiving his drink Cerensp was approached by a Bounty hunter by the name of [member="Startorn"] who sat down right beside him as asked him about the Supercommandos Cerensp brought with him. For an instant Cerensp thought of taking his cortosis blade and attacking the bounty hunter or even having his Supercommandos attack him from behind but eventually he decided on a slow approach. "Who are you and now do you know about my men in the corners. Nevertheless i cannot give you any information and i would not suggest taking out that blaster. I have Armor made out of Phrik on me and shooting me would do no damage." Meanwhile as he said that , Cerensp reached in for his vibroblade , just in case the bounty hunter made a move.

Meanwhile the Supercommandos headed to their assigned areas and looked around. One of the Supercommandos immediately saw [member="Kelsie Sylvan"] who had led the Resistance against Directorate forces at Brentaal IV an enemy of the Directorate and a possible threat. With his boss corned by that Bounty Hunter and Kelsie near him things were about to get awkward. The Supercommando immediately notified the othr 3 Supercommandos and they all headed towards the bar intending to defend their Leader shall he ever get attacked.

Startorn saw his hand move towards the blade but stayed relaxed and said "your men aren't the only ones with high tech armor, they're heat signatures stand out in this crowd" he glanced around and flashed his heat vision on and saw them moving towards him "also from what I can tell between that knife and your Solder's your making all the moves not me, I just want to know what, or who you want from this station"

"Who's the target?"
"Sabetha Tag."
"Got any leads?"
"Vessel identification and tracking listed her somewhere in the Mayagil sector."

The first stop was Durani's Rest, and as it would turn out the most convenient. The Mirage had handed Valentine a Luxury Pass for Durani's Rest allowing him unprecedented access to the casinos facilities usually reserved for high rollers and social elites. The King of Foxes had situated himself in a penthouse suite within the casino while he contacted agents and allies in the sector, gathering information on the bounty. Among his allies he had reached out to was Tanaa Val, a smuggler from Terminus who owed the bounty hunter a life debt.

"-And how did you get this?" Tanaa said with keen interest as she twirled the luxury pass between her fingers. Julian eyed the smuggler and gave no comment, he wasn't going to entertain her prying thoughts. The Mirage were very specific on the consequences of leaking information of their existence. Some may consider it a fate far worse than death, and not only that, Julian Valentine respected the Lysle of the Hydian Way, so he was not of a mind to start discussing what he knew about The Mirage, the ones who gave him his access to the casino.

"Okay, I get it, all a big secret with you Valentine, always is," she teased him and sauntered over to her bedroom in the apartment. With a quick snap-hiss the hydraulic doors to her room closed behind her. For a moment the silence was welcome, until he heard something. It was a loud crashing that broke the dull drone of the casino floor. He spun in his chair and eyed the monitors he had established in his room, insect-sized cam-droids had been placed throughout Durani's Rest feeding him visuals of the casino. "Tanaa!" Valentine yelled, and she barked back, "What do you want?" as she left her room in a fuss. "Get your blasters."

Julian Valentine quickly manned the controls and watched the feed as someone began to make demands, inaudible with the poor quality of the cam-droids. He punched in commands and the feed began to reverse, the group that had walked in causing problems backtracked through the corridors, sometimes vanishing along hallways that did not have the cameras Valentine established, only to resurface again in another location. Valentine finally paused the footage when he saw where they had come from. He watched them depart from their vessel as the footage began to move forward again, as they made their way back through the casino.

"While you're at it," Valentine said to the retreating back of Tanaa, "Bring a duffel bag of thermal detonators, we've got a ship to sabotage." The Togruta flashed a fanged smile. Valentine stood from the controls and moved for his own room, quickly hauling his bandoleer over his shoulder and donning his iconic Hammerhead helm. The same man had trained Ghorua in the art of bounty hunting, and if he was Ghorua the Shark that made Valentine The Hammerhead. A deadly combo when operating together, but not this day, this day Valentine hunted without his closest ally.

Julian Valentine and Tanaa Val left the apartment and took the nearest turbolift to the hanger.

The metal shutters that were once active moments before, had retreated and went back to "Inactive" status. Myles goes on the comms and reported further situational findings to his team.

"Hawkins, what the kark is going on? Get those shutters re-activated. We need to assess the threat."

Isaac was baffled in the security office, not sure what the hell was going on. It was like someone used a computer spike to override his previous command to enable casino lockdown.

Kelsie Sylvan said:
<<"I'm afraid I can't do that.">>
"Sir.....someone is using a backdoor to gain access into security systems here in the casino. I got denied entry and I am locked out of further lockdown procedures."

Someone was using a backdoor? Splicers are in the mix too? This casino just earned itself a hefty price for security assessment.
Readjusting his plan, he could see that an individual calmed the commotion down and walked the suspects in question over to the bar. This was a great time to run interference and run contingency plans.

"Alright, Hale. Post some security guards at all exit points. We need to monitor foot traffic and stay secure there. In addition I want you to stay in the back with the cage personnel as well as the Vault. "
"Parker. Stay blended in, you haven't been compromised and may see something we don't. Resume normal recon."

"Hawkins. Find out who the kark locked you out and trace them. Let's see who is playing sabacc at my table tonight. I wanna know all the players."

They all replied with "Copy"

His orders ran like clockwork as he could visually see his men respond accordingly. He kept his eyes on the trio at the bar, getting drinks. Perhaps they were discussing something more intimate in nature, he did not know. What he did know was that he could send Leo to chat up the three women but that might complicate things. It was now or never.

"Leo. Work your way to the bartender and observe the three ladies. I am sure you can handle that right?"

Giving a brief chuckle, Leo would respond on comms accordingly.
"Copy that sir."

Alright, a brief plan was in place. Now he just needed to find out what else to expect and run interference in any dastardly plans.
