SPECIAL FEATURES

The Nightbrother Arbalest Set consists of both The Arbalest, a heavily modified Nightsister energy bow mounted on a stock with a 4X Telescope and an electrostatic pavise, based off of gungan energy shield tech. The Arbalest provides extreme range and heavy stopping power, while the Pavise provides cover to hide behind while reloading. The Arbalest is highly accurate but must cool between shots. And reloading is a cumbersome process The arbalest comes with a tripod, and the pavise contains a small opening from within the center of its shield that allows the Arbalest to be fired through.

Strengths:

High Range: The Arbalest has excellent range on the battlefield, though not the range of a true sniper rifle, and when the battlefield is especially chaotic, something nearly silent, rivaling the power of an anti-material rifle in its ability to pierce standard heavy armors and plating on vehicles, combined with its near silence make it a force to be feared

Armor piercing: This weapon has great armor piercing potential. It is capable of going through very dense metals with its high powered bolt, such as titanium or Vanadium. It would almost be within Anti-Material rifle category, were it not for the fact that only a combat vehicle with the thinnest and most cursory armor would be at risk of penetration. But armor worn by sentients is at greater risk, though its penetration of armor is not a foregone conclusion, even of light armor, provided it is of sufficient quality

Cover: The electrostatic pavise the arbalest is found with is based off of Gungan electrostatic bubble technology, and acts as a sort of portable tower shield that can be mounted and set up to form cover for the shooter while they reload the crossbow. The Pavise has great damage absorbtion capacity, able to take has many as forty blaster rifle shots or twenty heavy blaster rifle shots before its battery needs to be swapped out. In addition, a specially designed partition allows the Arbalest to fire through the Pavise.

Near Silent: The weapon is very quiet when fired, even at very close ranges. This is due to the alterations done to make the bow compatible with the DC rifle it was jury-rigged to. Both the alterations to the bows electrical components as well as how the parts of the blaster rifle helped process the gas result in an effect that is the result of a combination of factors. First as the bows power is increased being attached to a custom stock, the frequency pitch of the sound it makes is altered significantly, lowering the noise the bolt makes naturally. The other major factor is the way the gas is processed and refined to create the energy crossbow's bolt causes the noise to be reduced similar to other blaster rifles with specialized gasses to make the bolt nearly silent, though it should be stressed this is a combination effect from combining two radically different approaches to energy weapons, not the specialty refinement solely of gasses

Heavy damage: The bolt is capable of penetrating deep into a target, though the bolt disapates quickly afterward. Consequences of direct hits can include perforated organs, flash cauterization, and severe pain, though these are not guarantees that the damage will be an equal combination of these.

Extreme Accuracy: The Arbalest functions essentially as a high powered sniper rifle. Its accuracy is nearly unrivaled. In addition, its frame also sports a tripod, enabling proper stability when firing prone.

Stun function: The Arbalest provides perhaps its most unique function for an energy type sniper weapon, the ability to stun a target a very long range. The energy required to render the bolt non lethal consumes most of the clip, but is capable of heavily stunning the victim if it connects, though factors such as quality of armor and the target will determine if the bolt could knock someone out.

Can hold the bolt longer: Even the best longbowmen can only keep a bolt drawn so long. Once the Arbalest is drawn, the heavy bolt remains in place for considerably longer. If held too long, its energy disappates harmlessly, wasting ammo. The bolt will last a maximum of five minutes knocked before the internal safety mechanism forces bolt disappation.

Take off muh trainin' wheels: The cross bow historically has always had an edge over the bow: It requires far less skill to learn and shoot and its easier to master than the traditional bow, which usually requires years, if not decades in a culture that fosters it. The same proves true here.

Weaknesses:

Bows were not meant for that anyway: While the bow has become far more powerful, with the plasma string used to fire the bolt increasing the harm it can inflict thanks to the power coursing through it, the cumbersome modifications prevent it from using as such like a traditional energy bow.

Almost...there...: The modifications done to this bow require a type of "Magnetic Windlass" to draw the plasma string back, both to draw the powerful bolt back and charge it at the same time. This windlass requires considerable effort to crank and is mounted on the side. It requires nine slow steady cranks to draw the bolt back for firing. This is what necessitated the pavise in the first place.

I'm 'wait-ing': After firing the bolt, the firing mechanism must cool for fifteen seconds to ovoid overheating the jury rigged bow components.

Tracked shots: The weapon may be silent, but the bolt can be traced back and the area it came from pelted with either artillery or return fire. Thus if someone saw it coming, they have a good shot of dodging.

Heavy: The modifications have rendered the weapon heavy and cumbersome, along with the heavy duty pavise, which must be carried on the back when not in use.

Long reload: Once the gas canister is exhausted, the weapon frame must be vented on one side for ten seconds before releasing the expended cannister mounted on one side.

Low ammo capacity: The cannister uses tibanna gas, and have jury rigged the bow to accept this ammunition type, though doing so also causing the plasma string to require more strength to draw the bow, necessitating the stock and windlass in the first place. Also contributing to the low ammo is the size and weight of the gas cannisters themselves--only two can be carried in reserve.

Shield cannot be used in melee: The cumbersome weight of the energy shield, along with its nature as portable blaster cover prevent it from being effectively used in melee, and it goes almost without saying anyone using this equipment would be vulnerable to flanking.

High recoil: The heavy mechanism required to draw the bow leads to heavy recoil when the bolt is fired and released. Shooter must be trained to take high recoils, hence the need for specialist training.

DESCRIPTION

Gholod The Nightbrother was the best sharpshooter in his clan, but despised the Nightsisters most thoroughly, and eventually decided to flee, killing a nightsister in the process. He used a heavily modified energy bow from that duel, jury rigging it to the custom frame he created with heavy blaster components and stock from a DC-15 blaster recreated for modern times that had once belonged to a gun collector from whom he had stolen. Obtaining a gungan energy shield and also heavily modifying it, he escaped his servitude and sold his skills as a mercenary. His nearly silent signature weapon earned him a reputation on cluttered battlefields a decade ago as "The Red Spike of Death." For though his large red bolt was seen traveling, it was rarely heard unless at very close ranges of two meters, so it is not completely silent. Carrying an energy shield helped make up for whatever shortcomings his deadly accurate weapon possesed, but even the weapons magnificent power and his mighty shield could not save him from the horrors of Darth Maranon's tomb, where it was placed in one of the stasis vaults of the treasury section. Gholod's Arbalest, despite its pieced together construction, the weapon is a sturdy example of a custom firearm. It has immense power and range and comes with a portable deployable cover and tripod. But its niche specialties, lengthy reload and slow rate of fire means this is a highly specialized one shot one kill weapon, but the custom hydrostatic pavise provides at least in theory, some cover to reload the deadly crossbow during pitched battle. Its a weapon best utilized by a specialist, however.

Since you don't have an actual image in this submission, this can be left as an "N/A"

Since you have a primary source and a description of the appearance, these are rather unnecessary.

Maple Harte said:
The arbalest comes with a tripod
You understand this cannot significantly reduce the recoil.

Maple Harte said:
Anything not in lightsaber resistant armor will be heavily injured or killed,
This will not work. You cannot dictate the result of your weapon ending in a kill. Also, this is not a lightsaber so lightsaber resistant is not a correct level of defense.

Maple Harte said:

What makes it silent?

Maple Harte said:
One must be wearing heavy armor to have a good shot at surviving but they will need immediate medical attention.
Again, you cannot dictate another person's injury. Be sure to use words such as "Capable, can, and designed to." It makes it seem less like you are implying it is something you can't defend from.

Againx2, dictating certain damage. Please clear the submission of these types of phrases and absolutes.

Sorry for the wait, [member="Adron Malvern"].

I edited the stuff so its more along the lines of what you suggested, and hopefully I altered the wording enough. If there is anything I missed, let me know.

Keep in mind the Clone Wars was hundreds and hundreds of years ago. So unless the creator of this actually made it DURING the clone wars, this will not conform to the standing timeline. Is this intended to be a weapon that was made back in the clone wars?
