Intelligent and Educated: Nicodemus is considered quite intelligent, able to pick up things and act on them rather quickly. This helps a great bit both in his studies and in running his buisness. Secondly, due to attending the Coruscant University as well as studied a great many things Nicodemus is knowledgable on many subjects. It having been the focus of most of his studies, Nicodemus is ecspecially knowledgable on the Force and it's applications. Though he is not force sensitive himself, Nicodemus has studied countless Force-centered beliefs, cultures and abilities. He likely knows more about the Force then many lesser Force users themselves.
Patient: While Nicodemus certaintly has goals and ambitions that he thinks of constantly, he is a patient man. He is willing to wait to do something in order to do it right. However, he is also confident that in the end his patience will pay off.
Selfish: While he may, even in long term, show that he cares about those around him, he rarely does. He is interested in how he can further himself and his goals and little else. However, if helping others will help himself in the long run he, of course, will.
Power hungry: While patient and capable of waiting for his power, power is almost always Nicodemus' goal. This is one reason that Nicodemus was always extremely interested in the Force: At it's strongest it is ultimate unquestionable power.
BIOGRAPHY:
Nicodemus' father, Reil Thaal, was a powerful figure on Bendali when Nicodemus was young, supporting the spice trade revolving around Death Mugs on Bendali. As one of the most powerful figures on the planet, Reil had a wide assortment of goverment officals either on his payroll or supporting him fully- leading him to become a great sucess. However, despite the fact that Bendalian authorities weren't likely to ever turn against him, it was still important to keep up appearences to the rest of the galaxy, where the Death Mugs he produced and sold were distributed and illegal. And so, Reil had founded ThaanCorp: A company supposedly focused on pharmaceuticals and growing Bendali's local Gor Stalk for medicinal purposes. This served as a suitable front, and Reil's buisness thrived. Reil's great sucess on Bendali allowed Reil to send his young son Nicodemus to the University of Coruscant for education.
Nicodemus did well at the University and it was there that an interest he had as a child, but was always discouraged, was brought to the surface again: He wanted to learn of the Force. The Force was at the center of thousands of wars in history, those that could use it were either the protectors of their goverment or the destroyers of others. They weilded absaloute power. Even the weakest of Force Users could move objects and affect the enviroment without even moving: They could do so many things simply wth their mind. And the things the strongest Force Users could do were... amazing. There were both stories and actual historical events documented and taught at the University of the great feats Force Masters could accomplish. Creating black holes, pulling entire ships from the sky, killing a man with a simple thought. Amazing power. However, Nicodemus was tested quickly, and he was not Force Sensitive.
Despite that, even as he left the University of Coruscant, Nicodemus did not stop studying and researching the Force. However, rather then dedicate his full time to learning as much as possible about The Force, Nicodemus was required to return home to Bendali and assist his father with his 'buisness'. While his father managed the spice trade ad production, Nicodemus was the face and president of ThaanCorp, running the legitimate side of the company and producing enough pharmaceutical products to make it look like a completely normal and legitimate buisness. Nicodemus made a point not to get involved in his father's side of the company, the Death Mug production and trade. And in the end, that turned out for the better for Nicodemus.
Despite growing older, Reil grew no less ambitious in his age. Believing that his already extremely powerful and profitable spice trade could grow even more lucrative, Reil attempted to expand his export to Nar Shadaa; a massive hive of spice dealers and all types of criminals. From there, he would essentially double his income. However, of ocurse, the local Crime Lords and Hutts of Nar Shadaa weren't terribly happy of another Spice Lord selling product on their territory. And it seems that Hutt-hired bounty hunters are typically quite good at their jobs. Reil was killed shortly after attempting to expand to Nar Shadaa.
This didn't phase Nicodemus, much, however. He never particularly cared for his father nd all of his father's assets, including the company and it's facilities and Reil's vast wealth, were left to him. Since Nicodemus was never directly associated with his father's spice trading, the small-time crime lords on Bendali looking to fill a power vacum nor the Hutts on Nar Shadaa saw any reason to bother Nicodemus. Despite the fact that he inherited the 'company' and it's facilities as well as his father's growing feilds and processing plants to continue producing Death Mugs, Nicodemus left Bendali. He had no interest in continuing his father's buisness or the front corporation that he had run for decades. He returned to studying the Force.
Nicodemus' studies were much more broad then they had been when he was younger, however: There were many amazing things in the Galaxy besides the Force... The Shi'ido's absaloute shapeshifting, the force-blocking technique of the Ysalamir, Gen'dai's instant reflexes and amazing regeneration. The Galaxy had many powers that were only given to a few, not just the Force. However, they were genetic, biological. They could be replicated if studied well enough. The same, Nicodemus came to realize, might be said for the Force... Everyone was connected to the Force in some way, according to most beliefs, but science had shown that you could only utilize it if you had enough midichlorian microbes inhabiting your body. Why couldn't they be reproduced, somehow?
Nicodemus had many ideas, concepts to be tested, theories to be analyzed to see if his goal was really a possibility. However, that would require huge amounts of credits and though he was still extremely wealthy, he would need a steady income to fund such studies. Hw briefly considered returning to his father's buisness, it was always a steady income and could likely support his research... but it wasnt stable. His father had ruled his little empire through fear and bribery, which meant it could easily be toppled by someone else who generated more fear or had more money- such as the Hutts had done. He would need a more stable income from a more legitimate source. Nicodemus returned home.
More to be added.
