STANDARD FEATURES

ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Strengths:
  • Waka Mole: It's rail gun like bomber launch bay is capable of flinging high explosive payload at high speeds to what ever target it is current over the head of. It can drop only a few if the target is small, or release the entire payload to obliterate larger threats.
  • Smaller Fire: Though considered standard and a little below average the 3 laser cannons on the NH-VY allows it to act in a reduced fighter role once it's bomb bays have been exhausted, its decent speed able to keep up with other standard fighters
  • Decent Speed: The two large sub light engine on the side of the craft help negate the mass of it's pay load meaning it does not suffer from any lack of speed, allowing it to complete missions faster compared to slower bombers.
Weaknesses:
  • Slow Turn: Due to the use of a rail force bombing system and powerful, but bulky engines the NH-VY isn't the most maneuverable and can take a bit to turn around, thus it's not the best craft to use in prolonged dog fights as most fighters can easily get behind it.
  • Lighter Armor: Most bombers tend to have thicker plating and extra shielding to protect their explosive pay load and keep them safe on bombing runs. This is something the NH-VY lacks and thus can be taken out of the sky like most other star fighters.
Description:
The idea for the 'sometimes names Y wing' was to take a already existing ship design and change it for different uses, that being taking the flat straight Y wing bomber and changing it slightly to resemble another fighter craft while keeping it's bombing abilities present. Over all the NH-VY is a standard light bomber of the line, able to carry it's bombs where they are needed, drop them and help out other pilots if need be. Simple to the point and versatile, while being affordable to most buyers, big or small.

Operational Use:
Any sort of bombing mission can be carried out by the NH-VY, be it ships or ground targets, it's somewhat decent speed meaning it can stay on par with other fighters, drop it's payload and get out quick, reducing long sorties and the need for other pilots to cover them as much. Such means hit and run tactics can be used by this and to devastating effect due to the decent payload of bombs it can carry. Lastly if need be the ship can act as an auxiliary fighter in desperate events, or to just back up a squadron due to the trio of laser cannons on it's wings and the over all 'fighter' atheistic the craft carries.

Defenses
The adherence to keep speed on average with other fighters while making it's pack a paunch has left a desire for better protection, the NH-VY not being as sturdy as other bomber like the Y wing and so on. Speed along with somewhat ability to fight back against enemy fighters is the crafts main form of defense as enemy pilots will think twice before going after a ship that isn't as slow as old harry and could potentially fight back similar to most standard fighters. Not that a user of the NH-VY should go looking for dogfight, but if there is no other way such is a viable option.
