NFU Dominion Planning: Terrijo

Status
Not open for further replies.
Ladies and gentlemen, if you have not read Corvus's announcement here, I will be running the upcoming NFU-oriented dominion.

I'd like to take this opportunity (since we have the spotlight) to maybe flesh out some of organizations or maybe even start them (I'm looking at you, GRIM), but also to potentially start developing some longer story arcs between our characters, if people are interested.

Is there anything that people would particularly like to see or do in this dominion? Any suggestions?

Our dominion will be aimed is Terrijo, which is pretty much a blank slate. So for the dominion, the following will be our playground.

Description: Terrijo is a world of vast, lushious jungle only broken up by the occasional rise of stony mountain peaks and five massive oceans. Thousands of species of wildlife live in these jungles, from the obnoxious but vibrantly colored Del bird in the upper canopies, to the packs of predatory Gurrcats on the jungle's floor. There are three continents: Binior, Gessbenna, and Sulia.

Binior is the largest of the continents. Thousands of years ago, it was colonized by adherents of the Pius Dea faith fleeing from the Alaskan conflicts in a highly damaged cathedral ship which crash-landed in the nearby Ruias Ocean. These adherents have survived to start a civilization of their own, which retains an unusually high level of xenophobia compared to galactic norms. They are ruled by a council or religious elders in the great walled city of Raydu. Although their own technology is just getting past the feudal level, they have obtained some high-end technology by trading various hardwoods, fruits, and creatures with offworlders. Blasters are a status rank among them, but most of the locals wield old-fashioned blackpowder slugthrowers. There is a group of "heretic" reformers on Binior who are interested in overthrowing the Raydu Council. They would like to establish a Republic-friendly government, oand maybe even join the Republic. The Republic has learned this from several of the offworlder traders who frequent Binior. Some of the reformers who are going to attempt the coup are actually motivated by noble reasons (more personal freedoms, connection with more people in the galaxy), while a good number of them would just like to have access to modern galactic technology and become part of the galactic economy. Recently there have been rumors that the Raydu Council has obtained several starships and airspeeders through trading, through which they intend to carry out raids on the "heretics" of Gessbenna.

Gessbenna is the smallest continent, and located almost on the opposite side of the world from Binior. Several hundred years ago, it was colonized by Sullustans working for a subsidiary of SoroSuub. They predominantly live in underground cities that at one point were mines that supplied raw materials to SoroSuub. The sullustans there now operate factories for Gessbenna Corp, which is both a company and the continent's government, to make various low-end items for nearby but wealthier worlds, such as cheap clothing, mechanical components, and basic refined materials such as duraplast. While relatively sleepy on the outside, Gessbenna is a hotspot for sector crime, with many Gessbenna executives and enforcers looking the other way to visiting smugglers, pirates, and other fugitives for a bribe. Some of the more corrupt Gessbenna officials even work with these criminals in exchange for part of a cut of the criminal's profits. One of these groups, the Bloodcrest Pirates, has started to raid shipping from several Republic worlds, including Cyrillia. It is thought they might have a connection with the Hutt vessel captured by Republic forces there.

Lastly, the continent of Sulia lies at one of the halfway points between Gessbenna and Binior. It is primarily uninhabitated, though there are persistent rumors that it is home to a sizable shadowport, but there is no outside confirmation of this yet. The few probe droids sent to the continent by bounty hunters and government astrographers alike have never reported back. Sulia remains a mystery to the outside world

the pirate connection makes the most sense for our reasoning to be there. With maybe the intention of connecting with the people of the world itself.
I looked over it again, and suddenly realized that I left out part of the plot for the first continent. ;)

There is a group of "heretic" reformers on Binior who are interested in overthrowing the Raydu Council. They would like to establish a Republic-friendly government, oand maybe even join the Republic. If people are also interested (and this would be entirely optional), I can also run opposition via PMing an opponent's actions, not unlike a dungeon or game master. I would write it in posts if I could, but that would cause problems with the new Dominion rules about writer participation.

This idea is awesome and it does allow opposition to respond without killing the post count for anyone.

I can assist with the coup if it doesn't conflict with the Terminus campaign.
Sounds like a plan. I think a lot of us will be involved with the Terminus campaign, so you won't be the only one in the same boat.

I'm going to start grouping people by plot interest at the intro post. Post below if you want to be added to a certain plotline.

I wouldn't mind being apart of some type of plot. Not very picky on which one it is, as long as it involves killing and not being in space (for very long).

[member="Dazuto"]

That is entirely up to you.

The Raydu Council does have a few starships and airspeeders to dogfight in the atmosphere if you're interested.

But I don't think that Archive or myself are going to mind your presence in space either. ;)

I think the coup/revolution on Binior is probably going to be the best place for pure ground combat, if that's what you're looking for.

If you're looking for more of a subterfuge or special ops thing, the pirates/corrupt Gessbenna executives need to be captured and put on trial, or alternatively "persuaded" to cease some of their activities.

Angels action!? Come on what's the word? Porkins needs a pet red tiger like creature!

Kiyron's a good fit for scouting the mysterious continent. Forested sneakiness and recon is his original specialty.

I will assist troops in the Coup. I would like to use a small group (Company sized) of standard GR troops. I plan on making an NPC unit later down the line following the Terminus Campaign, this, and maybe a few other Dominions/Invasions.

I've updated the list of people and plots, but people should feel free to join any of them at any time in the future.

I like the idea of the coup/revolution on Binior.

When is this dominion likely to take place?
The Dominion will be posted sometime this weekend. I will tag everyone who's showed interest in it so far in the initial post. And it's never too late to jump in on a plot later if you're busy right now with other things as well.
