- The Neyrix stands as a dark monument in the Halequarn District within Lianna City. The pyramid's stark, imposing design rises sharply from its foundation, with its dark façade unbroken by signage or ornamentation. Surrounded by dense urban architecture yet set apart by a secured no-access perimeter, the structure commands both attention and unease.
While the building would ordinarily be accessible via the city's major transportation arteries, all roads and pedestrian routes leading to the area have been sealed off. The surrounding streets are patrolled by Stormtroopers of the Imperial Corrections Directorate [ICD], who enforce a total exclusion zone. Civilians are not permitted within two miles of this structure, and even service routes and airspace above the structure are restricted save for military vessels belonging to the Imperial Confederation.
Though towering and unmistakable in the skyline, Neyrix is socially and physically isolated. Its esoteric, reinforced concrete surface, and absence of external activity lend it an almost alien stillness which is amplified by the overcast skies and almost vacant streets shown in its vicinity. The structure appears lifeless, yet undeniably present.
The Imperial Corrections Directorate [ICD] maintains a strict and impenetrable perimeter around the building, but even they are forbidden from entering it. No personnel, including those stationed at the perimeter, have ever been authorized to cross its threshold. The reasons remain undisclosed, and questions are met with silence. The building appears entirely sealed, with no visible entryways at ground level with only shadowed recesses and smooth, towering surfaces that offer no clues to what lies inside. - Description:
- The Neyrix looks like an impenetrable structure in the heart of the city. It is a pyramid surrounded in enigmatic, mysterious stories about a long lost race of Humanoids said to have come to Lianna during the Four-Hundred Year Darkness. People only know that these aliens once existed because of the monuments that they left behind with no written text or stories (passed on by word of mouth) to explain who they were or why they built such a place. Some academics refer to these mysterious people as The Builders.
It is a place that demands attention but offers no answers as to why or how it is there in the first place- another anomaly of several found across the galaxy that is distinctly different to it's surroundings. The pyramid's towering form rises high above the other buildings in the local district, an austere silhouette against the perpetually overcast Liann sky.
The building's design is esoteric and mysterious with the structure composed of dark, weathered concrete and glyphs of a long lost language nobody knows how to read etched across its walls. The surrounding architecture in the urban landscape is distinctly Imperial in nature, and so the pyramid stands out due to how vastly different it looks to everything else.
With the immense scale of the Neyrix it possesses all the conventional expectations for a building of it's size. It is large enough to accommodate offices, suites and archives which are used or made available for Vūm and the clientele that the organisation conducts business with. There are rumours that the pyramid is in fact the corporate headquarters for the non-profit but these are unsubstantiated.
Upon entering the building one would encounter a dark interior filled with ambient lights which switch colours at random intervals providing an eerie setting which unnerves the unprepared for it's dark aesthetic. The ground floor is closed, with a service desk built into the rock situated in front of large overarching doors which lead into the interior and if you were to look up from this level, you would come to see the esoteric language of the aliens that are rumoured to have built this place etched upon the ceiling in their strange glyphs.
The walls rise endlessly, with no clear end in sight, as if the building has no real upper or lower limits with its scope is both apparently infinite and vast with the exterior of the building providing no clues as to its interior configuration, and the only entrance appears to be the long, open mouth found at the base of the pyramid to the south that is not at first visible particularly to those looking upon the building at long distances.
The ground level is sealed, with only a large, overarching stone door built into the walls suggesting the only way inwards. There are no windows, or traditional entryways otherwise. There is only one only suggestion of a way inside which comes from the service desk. A waiting area containing seats and table of a modern design is situated near the desk for visitors.
Neyrix Ground Floor.
The ground floor of the Neyrix is a large open area found once you enter through the open mouth of the pyramid. There are no signs or traditional walkways. No televisions, holographic emitters or screens of any nature. Ambient lights, which change colours at random intervals, are cast overhead and faintly reveal esoteric glyphs of a long lost alien language.
It is as if those who work here have gone out of their way to make technological scantly found giving it a minimalistic feel among the other inspired feelings of esotericism, eeriness, and tension made by the dark aesthetic of the building itself.
A service desk has been built into the weathered rock. It is metallic and chrome like suggesting it was a new addition in comparison to the architecture of the building itself. The desk contains a seat marked for one individual to work behind and behind them is a large overarching doorway which appears to lead into the rest of the pyramid. Situated near the desk is a waiting area containing seats and a table of modern day.
N&Z Umbrella Corporation Offices and Suites.
Within the pyramid itself are fifty-sevens levels connected by stairs and elevators which were installed after the Neyrix was acquired by Vūm. There is only one entrance into this section of the pyramid with the other points sealed. The emblem of N&Z Umbrella Corporation has been cut into the rock by a talented sculpture exposing that these are the offices of the galactic conglomerate found on Lianna.
Offices and suites designed for business or corporate interests pertaining to the N&Z organisation are found here. Personnel belonging to the N&Z are seen frequently coming or going as they tend to the agendas of the corporation and it's interests in Imperial space. It is not uncommon to find screens plastered with data, information or local broadcasts playing on screens or others forms of technological paraphernalia.
VesperWorks Offices and Suites.
Thirty-four levels connected by stairs and elevators contain offices and suites belonging to the VesperWorks with their emblem carved into the rock to signify that what lays beyond these walls belongs to them. Personnel pertaining to the company are seen coming or going to meet with clientele representing the agenda and interests of the organisation in Imperial space.
Much like the N&Z, there is only one entrance to the V.W area with the other entrances or exits sealed off.
Santhe Corporation Headquarters, Offices and Suites.
Inside this section of the pyramid and it's twenty-seven levels contain the headquarters, offices and suites of the Santhe Corporation following it's revival in 902 ABY. It is here that the company conducts most of it's business within Imperial space. Personnel belonging to Santhe can be seen intermixed with the other entities whom work within the pyramid as they conduct business in pursuance of the corporation's agenda on Lianna.
Vūm Office.
Located at the top of the pyramid itself is a single office belonging to a non-profit organisation known only to some as Vūm. The only access to this area of the pyramid can be found via an elevator found at the northern side of the building itself at it's ground level. Users may request access to the office but would first need to bypass ICD patrols and would require an appointment, certification and passcodes to be given access.
Inside they would find a solitary table made of the same weathered concrete that the pyramid was made out of and a single seat. There is no modern technology to be found anywhere save for the elevator shaft itself. It is a quiet a place and one many feel unnerved particularly by the cold that is found here.
Archives.
Rows and shelves of data are stored at the bottom floors which contain records of Vūm and it's official interactions with clientele, organisations or governments. The things recorded here are stored digitally and could in theory be accessed by other forms of technology belonging to it's partners or the organisation itself. For example a datapad could be used to access these archives.
A long thrrrmmm sound indicates the artificial conditioning used to keep this place cold less the power cells used to keep these digital records alive become too hot and cause a serious accident. The same artificial lights found at the ground level are used here giving this place a tense, esoteric atmosphere.
SECURITY
MEDIUM.
External Security
- ICD patrols are the only tangible layer of protection surrounding the building. They form an unbroken perimeter that restricts all civilian and unauthorized movement within several city blocks.
- The street access is sealed, barricaded by heavy urban infrastructure, and the presence of the ICD is constant, but even they do not approach the building itself.
- No one is permitted to touch the walls. No one is allowed to ask why.
- There are no cameras. No visible defenses. No visible entrances.
- Only silence. Only order.
Internal Security
No alarms. No guards. No turrets.
And yet no one has ever returned from inside uninvited.
- The interior disorients.
- A seemingly infinite amount of levels from within which are only distinguished by the emblems of the various organisations and corporate entities who are housed here.
- Elevators and stairways which require access codes to enter.
- Sound doesn't behave the way it should. Echoes come late. Footsteps sound like whispers.
- The lighting is wrong. There are no fixtures, and yet there is illumination. It comes from nowhere.
- No signs. No directions. No names on the walls. The entrances to other levels are there. But they don't invite you in.
- You feel watched, yet there are no cameras.
- The air tastes sterile, but thin, like it shouldn't be breathable.
- Those who enter feel the sensation of being studied, not by machines or by people. Nobody knows why.
- No force is used, yet intruders turn around.
- Those who've dared enter speak of feelings they can't describe such as panic, awe, or grief. Some report missing time.
- No automated defenses are known to exist. There are no patrols within.
- Intruders would find themselves segregated. In the event of an intrusion the offending level would be sealed. Any personnel regardless of their respective organisation would be abandoned. There will be no trades or bartering for lives.
- Air scrubbers may be turned off which may lead to eventual suffocation.
The Neyrix does not need turrets or soldiers. It doesn't need a visible shield.
It is protected by the unknown and by the fear that stepping too far in will unravel more than secrets.
It protects itself in silence.
It may kill you if you enter.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Before the Four-Hundred Year Darkness there were no records, writings or known sightings of the structure that is colloquially referred to by some as the Neyrix. Yet, by the 835 ABY, it was found in an area of Lianna City called the Halquarn District which suggests that it was constructed sometime during that era all the while the galaxy suffered under the effects of the Gulag Virus.
Academics believe that the pyramid was constructed by an ancient mythological race of aliens that they call The Builders. Their name was given by those who have attempted to research or excavate sites found all across Lianna and other places in the galaxy whom they think to have been left behind by these thought-to-be Humanoids who are believed to have died out during the Four-Hundred Year Darkness. The name comes about due to the only distinguishing markers that could be found to mark them such as their esoteric yet distinctive long lost language marked upon the walls of the constructs that they left behind in the form of glyphs.
Nobody knows their real name and to this day there has yet to be a translation made of their language or the glyphs found on the walls of the Neyrix or other such places like Childhood or A City Lose To Time. They are an anomaly. A mystery that nobody can seem to crack. Not even the Sith, Jedi or Imperial remnants (who have ruled Lianna over the past century) have been able to decipher who built places such as this pyramid despite various attempts to do so.
In 902 ABY it was acquired by a non-profit organisation called Vūm. Exclusive clientele pertaining to various organisations or corporations were then assigned office space and suites to conduct their agendas from in Imperial space. These included N&Z Umbrella Corporation, VesperWorks and Santhe Corporation of which the latter established their headquarters within the Neyrix following their revivification in the early ninth-century.
It was here in this pyramid that the Order of the Sith Lords solidified their presence and subsequent influence across the multitude of corporations who possessed offices or headquarters within the Neyrix as well as in Imperial space.
