Ay kept her usual emotionless face up as she left the cantina, gun sword strapped to her belt, energy bow on her back and what few belongings she had in her position in a small backpack. The question was why was she leaving? did not the woman in the cantina have a job lined up for those playing 20s? Well she did, but for Ay the additional interference from the man wanting a favor in return for helping did not sit well with her, to many unknowns, to deal with, not the mention the dark side radiating of said individual. The last thing Ay wanted to do was work for a Sith, her skills be discovered and taken away to some Sith laboratory where she would be used as a tool, but that was not everything.

To top it all off, she had lost at the game, really badly, where the dice loaded, or what is just an improbable set of outcomes from the 1 in 6 dice rolls. Who would know, all that mattered was the outcome, with said outcome being betting herself and losing to [member="Gatz Duolingo"], another player who had decided to not join the party for whatever reasons. As such, Ay found herself following said man back to his place for the nigh, or ship, she had yet to know just yet, but from her earlier analysis Ay had concluded he was a smuggler of some sorts.

Gatz still wasn't sure how or why this was happening. One minute, they were playing a game of dice, talking about some work. And then the next, he had some kind of robo-sword ninja following him to his ship. As handy as she was sure to be in a fight, Gatz had just met this woman, and wasn't sure how much he could trust her. Would she sneak up on him in the night, intending to strike a killing blow? She definitely looked like some sort of assassin. If Gatz hadn't spent time on Nar Shaddaa, he might have been giddy at the idea of having an assassin on the ship. But, if the Hutt moon had taught him anything, it was that people like this "Ay" were usually more trouble than they were worth.

Good thing, then, that Gatz liked trouble.

"So, uh, I'm still a little lost here," Gatz admitted, "why exactly are you signing on with me? I'm just a small time smuggler. I don't really run into life or death situations... well not often-, okay, not every day."

As he waited for Ay's answer, Gatz pulled a comlink from his jacket pocket.

"Arfour, get the ship prepped for take off. I wanna get off this rock as soon as possible."

Ay gave Gatz a bland look, wonder why he came to said conclusion, "Answer, the newer individual that had approached the table introduced to many unknown factors into the mission proposed by the woman, as such I calculated that it would be unwise to accept employment under her at this current time". "In addition to said predicament I lost the gambling bet to you, and as I stated before the game started I was not going to use any physical violence to escape debt, as such, since I lost, you are designated as my new owner".

"If more information is needed about my decision, I am also lacking any prime mission directive at this time after going rouge and escaping my former owners, you will for the time being fill that and as such I have self designated my current task in protecting your life from any immediate threats... does that satisfy your curiosity". There was still some information about wanting to stay on the move and off the radar, but Gatz did not need to know that, unless he specially asked, but for now that information was classified.

R4 beeped something back over the comm, that was better left unsaid. The droid was long overdue for a memory wipe, and because of that, the astromech had expanded his vocabulary to include very colorful words. Gatz had to bite his tongue to keep from giving his droid an equally scathing remark. It wouldn't do for Gatz to light up the streets of Port Dameron with wild language, nor would it likely do anything to reassure Ay that he was a totally respectable smuggler.

Gatz listented to Ay intently, more interested in her explanation than anything else. But he almost blanched when she called him her "new owner."

"Woah, woah, woah. Let's get one thing straight. I'm not your 'owner,' and you're no slave. You're a member of my crew, which means you get paid. I don't do indentured servitude or slavery; they're both disgusting concepts."

Captain Duolingo didn't have many lines he had to worry about crossing. He would deliver bombs, guns, chemicals, and he would even smuggle refugees off of their homeworld. But the one thing he refused to take part in, was the slave trade. Maybe it was because of his Alliance upbringing, or maybe it was because he wasn't alley scum, but that was where Gatz drew the line.

"You're a free person. You can leave whenever you'd like. I'm not gonna hold you against your will; wouldn't dare try."

AY listened to the heated conversion between Gatz and his astromech, sure some people did not always understand the binary way that droid with my synthetic vocal box talked, but Ay did, though not through the normal ways of learning, more like sub memories that had been implanted into her mind during cybernetic augmentation. 'note, R4 class astro mechanical assistance droid, self-developed personality from lack of memory wipes, classified as rude and annoying'. Technically speaking they were not personalities, more that the code and algorithm that the droid employed learned over time, picking up speech patterns and other manners of carrying out its tasks, most likely this R4 unit had been present at many vulgar confrontations between organics.

"Statement, I have never been a member of anything, during my former designated missions I always worked alone, to my overseers I was nothing but a tool for use, I am sorry if my term of speaking has upset you". To Ay, having a master or owner was the only way she had lived, in her encoded mind it seemed normal, but also, she knew that the term of slavery had a different meaning in the broader Galaxy due to the slave trade. "Clarification, when I refer to slavery I am defining it as a term of employment where one is not paid, most commonly in the case of working off a dept., not the way most commonly known as a condition of having to work very hard without proper remuneration or appreciation".

"Statement, I will accept any payment you give me, though I will tell you now I have no intent of leaving anytime in the near future", again for reasons of staying on the move, perhaps one day she might leave for another crew, or when the theoretical heat on her died down. Though statistically speaking, rolling with some not well-known smuggler with a minimum crew will greatly lower the odds of being caught.

As far as Gatz was concerned, what Ay had just described was slavery. Any kind of work without pay was slavery, or at least he thought so. Regardless, he was glad to hear that Ay would at least accept payment from him. He'd expected more resistance from the girl, but maybe he shouldn't have. She had, after all, signed on with him and followed him without so much as a complaint. He supposed that she was just a very compliant person. He could work with compliant.

"It's not so much that it upset me," Gatz paused for a moment, trying to find the right words to express how he felt, "it's more like concern. You seemed awfully willing to sign away your autonomy. Thats- don't do that. Free choice is what makes us, well, people."

He would have said a bit more on the matter, but he was cut short by the bay doors that opened up in front of them. With the metal barrier now out of the way, Gatz's ship, The Shooting Star, was in full eye's view, sitting in the middle of a landing pad. Her metal hull was scratched and worn, and the painted highlights that were once a vibrant red were now a dull brown. All in all, she looked like she got around, which she did.

"She's not the prettiest ship in the world, inside or out, but she's home."

It was a poor defense of his lack of care, but he said it nonetheless. Besides, Gatz liked the worn look of his ship.

A small metaphorical switch flicked inside of her mind as she got what Gatz was saying, probably there where many people that would have taken advantage of the way she acted and probably willing to do almost any task within her power. Of course, that was not the case, any one like that would be a calculated risk and as such Ay would take precaution to not do anything that would physically harm or affected her for the worse. "Clarification, I assessed your mental reasoning and way of thinking from your action and words, as such I drew a conclusion that you yourself would not ask anything of me that would put myself in danger, sexual acts are placed into that same charlatanry if that is also a present concern".

She continued to follow Gatz into the hanger, but now curious on what he also said, about free will, he had no idea what her past life was like, the changes she made just get enough reasoning to escape her old confines. “As for what else you said, what make us people... I am not a person, more a droid with human parts, I do not feel emotion, I chose my actions based solely on statistical calculations and probable outcome... would you call that person human"? She looked back at the ship, it was old, battered, but if it flew fine by her, luxury was not really a factor in accommodation, a bed, and draw was all Ay needed, "Statement, your ship will do fine as long as it functions properly".

As he waited for the boarding ramp to lower, Gatz silently listened to Ay's explanation. At first, he felt himself be put at ease. At least, until the whole "no emotions" thing came up. His brow dipped at that. Ay made a very excellent point, one that he didn't want to think too deeply on, but now he had to nonetheless. Could someone who lived without emotion, an underlying basic train of humanity, truly call themselves human? Gatz didn't know. The Jedi denied emotion, claimed that there was nothing but peace for them, but Gatz knew that was a perception of the Truth, rather than the Truth itself.

"I wasn't concerned about sex, actually. What you do with your body is your choice. But that does bring up a question: you claim you don't feel emotion, that you're impartial to anything that doesn't give credit to calculations. If that's the case, then why do you place sex among things that could place you in danger? I can tell that you're more than capable of taking care of yourself. No one could force you into anything. So, does that mean that you just don't want to take part in sexual activities? Because that underlying lack of desire, would come from emotion."

It was funny, Gatz thought, that he was arguing with someone over what they felt. Stupid as it sounded, he felt determined to prove to Ay that she was human, even if it was through illogical fallacies. His mom always did say that he was an ornery kid, growing up. Or maybe, he just didn't like things that didn't make sense to him.

Ay already had a counter argument for Gatz at his little rank, and though not attuned to vocal change to express sarcasm or humour she could still easily pick up on it, though the way Gatz talked was kind of a condescending tone, like he had caught her something, like a lawyer catching a lie in a witness testimony. "Informal statement, for the moment conducing sexual acts and favours for people has been allocated to its designation is due to my limited research into the matter. From what I know a woman experience pain during their first sexual encounter that involves intercourse, in addition the risk of STD or pregnant and following common traits come with would most certainly affect my combat capability, and thus put me in danger".,

"Depending on how my research goes such sexual acts may change from designation of 'danger' to 'distraction' as such acts are meaningless to me, though if useful for any reason that I or yourself find I may add it to my list of current skills". In truth, it was also to make Gatz feel more comfortable with her presence, though of legal age, her more younger and short physical appearance would probably make for a rather awkward time if she was to engage in sexual activities, and Gat did not seem to be that sort of person from her current observation.
