Spies, assassins, and saboteurs, the New Imperial Security Bureau aka: The NISB is the primary Intelligence network for the Empire of the Lost. The NISB works both within the Empire and without, ensuring the sanctity and security of Imperial Citizens by rooting out dissident thought, as well as working against foreign actors. The agents of NISB specialize in intimidation, manipulation, and assassination of key targets. Even though they prefer to operate from the shadows, when pressed into combat, NISB agents possess an array of skills ranging from elite weapons training and hand to hand combat. As such, an agent can be more than a match against a Jedi and a Sith in a one-on-one confrontation.
The NISB is one of the most feared and deadly Intelligence organizations in the galaxy. Revamped under the new Emperor, the NISB are masters of reconnaissance having spies all over the Galaxy. The agents are great at adapting to tough situations and are fiercely loyal to the Empire and Emperor to the point where they are willing to die rather than spill the Empire’s secrets. Agents are often prepared, having multiple back up plans in case things go awry. They pride themselves in doing the dirty work for the Empire, knowing full well that to keep the Empire afloat. Someone needs to be willing to do what’s necessary to make sure that the enemies- Foreign and domestic- are taken care of with ruthless efficiency.

Trainee- NISB personnel in training, they undergo a rigorous six month training program before they are set out into the field. Approximately three-fourths of trainees drop out by the end of the six month program.
Agent - NISB Agents are rank-and-file general personnel of the NISB who have graduated training but remain without a specific specialization. They are often used as security at sensitive installations, criminal patrol personnel on Imperial Streets, and muscle supporting the arrests ordered by investigators. They are not tasked with intelligence gathering specifically, but are expected to report suspicious activities to the Investigations branch. Unlike common planetary security personnel, NISB officers are the equivalent of the most elite police units, such as SWAT teams with advanced training.
Senior Officer - NISB Senior Officers are Officers who obtain seniority and promotion without taking the specialized training needed to become an Investigator or Agent. They will often command groups of officers at sensitive installations, and will direct officers during riots, perimeter cordons, large arrests, or in support of Field Agents who request high-skilled muscle to support their field operations.

Investigator - When Officers choose to obtain a specialization, one of their options is to train as an Investigator. They are primarily tasked with analyzing data or ordering arrests and conducting interrogations of the Empire’s enemies, foreign or domestic. They do not typically conduct intelligence gathering operations, nor do they make assassinations or conduct sabotage. They are primarily analysts and interrogators who go to work after Officers make arrests, or Field Agents collect data in the field. Investigations can be conducted on threat-force nationals or upon suspect individuals of the Empire’s own populace.
Senior Investigator - A Senior Investigator commands multiple Investigators during a large investigative endeavor. They coordinate with Agent Commanders to take actions based on what large investigations may uncover or need to uncover. Large Investigations can be conducted either on threat-force nations or upon suspect portions of the Empire’s own populace.

Junior Field Agent - Usually working with a more senior agent, Junior Agents are learning the intelligence craft on the job, and provide valuable support to field operations. Even though they have junior status, they possess the full panoply of specialized intelligence craft training. They simply have not accumulated much real-world experience, yet.
Field Agent - Sometimes leading their own field operations, and sometimes working with other agents, Field Agents perform actions in the field ranging from the physical collection of intelligence, the capture of desired persons of interest, the elimination of enemy operatives, or to the sabotage of enemy assets. Field agents are the tangible force the Empire exercises in response to Investigations.
Field Agent Commander - In charge of several Field Agents and their subordinate Junior Field Agents, Agent Commanders are the primary point of contact for Senior Investigators when conducting Large Investigations. Investigations are reliant on Agent operations, either to collect intelligence for analysis by Investigators, or in response to an Investigation once a course of action has been selected by a Staff Agent or their superiors.

Staff Agent Commander - Directing all of the Staff Agents on a particular world, they may coordinate multiple investigations against multiple parties at any given time.
Staff Sector Commander - Directing all of the Agents in a particular Sector, the Staff Sector Commanders manage a vast number of operations that may number in the hundreds, spending their time sifting through endless reports and choosing the general direction of their Sector’s investigations and activities.
Staff Deputy Director - The personal assistant of the Director, they may be sent to problem Sectors or important operations to oversee them and ensure problems are resolved adequately and that ill-performing members of the NISB are properly motivated.
Staff Director - The overall commander of the NISB, the Staff Director reports directly to the Emperor, and is responsible for assuring that the combined action of the NISB conforms to the Emperor’s will and expectations. If there is an intelligence failure, it ultimately rests on the shoulders of the Staff Director.
