Have I been played?
The question passed through Azurine's mind for longer than it should have. Before she knew it, she was laughing, her expression lit up with her amusement at the whole situation. Master Valery was never late, at least not as far as she had seen. Of course it had been a setup the whole time.
"I guess we've both been had, huh?" She shook her head in a bit of exasperation, though she nodded to the invitation inside, stepping forward into the home. She could use a bit of a break from everything that had been going on recently, anyway.
"Snacks sound great, actually. Well, if you have anything that isn't just sugar." Her words came out with a joking tone, but given her species carnivorous diet, it definitely had a hint of more than that after seeing the tray of mostly pastries. She would be fine with one, though, so she wasn't all that worried. Well, mostly, at least. She found herself a seat on the couch and positioned herself cross-legged to face the younger Noble.
The conversation then shifted to herself, and her gaze shifted to the ground for a moment. She had never exactly been the best at talking about herself, usually allowing her actions to speak for themselves. Then again, during her time in the rebellion, ice breaking was almost one hundred percent done with action since there wasn't always time for much else.
"Training has been pretty different than what I'm used to. More formal. On the bright side, I have a couple years of it from before under my belt so I'm not going in blind, but it was much more... uh ... hands on." She struggled to find the right word for the teaching methods she'd been put through before her time in stasis, and that was the best she could do, which made her chuckle a bit. Really, it was more like trial by fire than anything.
Azzie found herself pausing for a moment, her gaze caught by Vera's eyes. She had noticed it before when she'd first arrived here, but hadn't truly been able to let it sink in with the state of her mind. She hadn't seen anything like it.
"You've probably heard it before, but you have some of the most beautifully colored eyes I've seen," she said before she could stop herself in fear it might come off wrong. It was the truth, though, and she definitely deserved to hear it. The way her eyes were split almost perfectly in half with greens and ambers looked almost like a landscape itself, which was fascinating to her.
